I would love to hear more about Grandma Ok's childhood and how Korea has changed since she was a kid. I'm also interested in her opinions on Korean reunification and what the postwar era was like for her. (From 1945-1953. I know she was very young then but I'd still like to hear about her experience.) Edit: My comment was poorly worded. When I said postwar I meant post World War 2, aka the Korean War era.

This was so interesting! I love listening to the stories of elders. They have so much experience and wisdom to share. Would it be rude to ask about Grandma Ok’s experience during the civil war in the 1970’s? Here in the US, we only get the US version of this terrible time. If it’s rude, please don’t ask her. I wouldn’t want her to be sad. The only thing I really know is how to make Army Base Stew!

One thing to note. The textile/clothing industry in the US began to move to Asia in the late 80's and speeded up during the 90's. That meant that fashionable ready to wear clothing was developed closer to South Korea. So the style gap between the US and South Korea would have narrowed considerably.
