This is my go to breakfast now. I purchased 3 of the little pans on Amazon which were pretty cheap. Generally the only hard part is deciding whether to use a strip of bacon or cut up bacon in the recipe. If I have no bacon I'll add some extra sugar or slice down the middle and add a bit or syrup or honey. It tastes like pancakes in many ways. I can leave these in the fridge and pop 1 or 2 into the microwave when it's time to go. Generally this saves me so much time in the mornings instead of having to buy it on the go or cooking it then. Wrap the mini-bun in a paper towel and eat it on the way to the car or at work.

I've made Maangchi's version of Eggy bread 4 or 5 times now. I love it. I usually double the recipe, use a bigger loaf pan and use an entire cutup cheese stick instead of just a 1/3 in each loaf. The time on cooking changes to about 25 minutes for well done and about 20 for runny. Totally recommend it. [edit] You really need to try it with mozzarella... it becomes the highlight of the loaf... it's delicious.

Right? I’m from Sweden and I “invented” (lol) this recipe many years ago where I made something like a pancake batter but put it in silicone cupcake moods and baked it so that it puffed up. Took me a few months before I came across Yorkshire pudding and realised that I far from invented anything and just accidentally made a version one of Britain’s most beloved comfort foods... 😂 Really, really good stuff. As far as I understand you brits eat them as part of dinner, but I enjoy them with a bit of jam as a snack. Delicious.

My sister and I ate so many of these when we were in Seoul!!!! It is one of the Korean foods I miss the most. They were amazing and so cheap! We loved them so much, we even bought one for another tourist lady who was standing by the stand trying to figure out what it was. We told her how delicious they were and bought her one. I know there is no cornmeal in the batter, but it tasted almost sweet and corn bread like.

Emmy, it's such a joy to watch you enjoying food! You are so right, everybody has such different texture and food preferences. Many people combine egg & ketchup, it must be a lovely combination. Interesting how the egg with cheese still tastes like mac & cheese. I like how these are served hot, so the egg is still fresh and moist. I am glad you pointed out that the bread is like a bao in texture, it sounds more appealing that way.

I made it! SOOOOO wonderful! I say if you're gonna add a little meat to it though, add ham/bacon. I sprinkled a tiny bit of Chicken I had to mine. It got lost in the batter, though you could texturely taste it. I also think finely diced Spam or canned ham would be wonderful! I omitted the baking soda/powder & used self-rising flour. The egg in mine were more along the line of hard-boiled. I added cinnamon/sugar to the top. I also think a tiny sprinkle of Corn Meal would add an interesting texture/crunchiness. Overall 10 out of 10! Leave you a TON of room to perfect & make your own. Be warned however: EXTREMELY filling!!!

Gorgeous! Thank you! Something like Portuguese custard tart? While I'm not so OCD as to stick my finger into an eggshell to get the last scrap of white out (just use a large egg, if that matters!) I am so very glad to see a rubber spatula come out, to clean every morsel out of the bowl. So many videos, a third of the batter or whatever ends up stuck to the bowl, driving me mad. Making we wonder about all that measuring and weighing, if its ok to leave half of it behind! Re: caleza (sp?) some eggy recipes you strain the batter, presumably to get that out. So much simpler to do it when the egg goes in? In a soft baked product, it can become hard. Eating a chocolate mousse cake once, all those eggy hard bits sank to the bottom and cooked hard and each time I got one in my mouth I imagined it was bug parts or something. Couldn't eat it; I threw it away.

If you like trying Korean food you should try pa jeon, green onion pancake, and yacha jeon, vegetable pancake. I got introduced to both when I worked at a department store years ago. The lady who worked with me was this really nice lady who was from South Korea. She was older and I was a young 20 something. We always had our lunch together and she felt that I didn't eat enough, so she started bringing me homemade Korean food for lunch. It was all so amazing but my favorites were the pa jeon and the yacha jeon. She made one or the other everyday. I now make my own once a year. When all my veggies are at their best from my garden I make a huge batch of both. Have myself a treat for lunch and dinner, then freeze the rest. Lasts me about 6 months having them occasionally for lunch. Both go really well with shrimp. Highly recommend you give them a try. Maangchi has good recipes for both.

In Haiti, the “eye” is always removed from the egg. According to most Haitians, it makes the eggs/food made with eggs taste and smell better, and cook more evenly. I don’t personally notice any difference (I’m not Haitian, but I cook Haitian food at home almost exclusively as my husband is from Haiti), but I have grown so used to removing it now, I don’t even think twice about it anymore. Haiti is definitely not the only pace I’ve heard of this being done either, so maybe they’re on to something! 🙂

I’ve seen Brazilians do the same thing. I think it might make a difference in some sweet things like custards/cream caramel.

This kinda reminds me of bibingka from Philippines, maybe because this is also topped w/ eggs. Emmy you should try making bibingka! It is a popular ricecake in Philippines (especially during Christmas season, it is usually sold outside the Churches) made with riceflour, coconut milk, margarine and sugar, and top it with salted egg and coconut shavings and lined with banana leaves! I think you're gonna love it!

I made these following this video, it was so stinking easy! And I loved the results! I love sweets though, and as easy as this recipe is I have been considering putting a dollop of nutella instead of egg 👀 I know that makes it not egg bread anymore but boy I love nutella

I was binge watching Dancing Bacons' street food videos, and he had one in Taiwan where they tried wheel cakes. They just looked so interesting and tasty, I would love to see if you could recreate them. It almost looked like you might be able to make them using an ebelskiver pan🤔
