Sometimes I go to the Japanese side of KZfaq and just see what they think of American movies. I remember someone mentioning The Bug from Men in Black. They said how Edgar was really creepy and scary, how everyone kept saying how evil The Bugs were and then when they saw his true form it just looked kinda cute. They were expecting to be really creeped out or see something really gross but it barely even looked like a cockroach and wasn’t that scary looking.

I'm impressed they managed to find a relatively cute photo of a housefly. It must be because they turned it so you can't see the hairy bits. No such luck for the cockroach, they just made its picture much smaller/further away then all of the others.

She may be scared, but she's trying to learn about them! That's one of the best ways to get over a phobia. I had crippling arachnophobia growing up, in my early 20s I decided to do something about it and started studying spiders. It took a couple years but eventually I got over my fear.

This is actually a great way to get over or diminish the impact of phobias, it's pairing the fear with a positive experience so it becomes less scary. It's called operant conditioning!
