Eminem is a product of his time, I just realized now that younger people have no clue what he's going on about in a lot of his music. But, this takes me back to being 14-15 and laughing hysterically when I first saw it on TRL.

He's still making great music & arguably the best lyrist to ever do it... Check out his new stuff on Music Tobe Murdered by...(Alfred Hitchcock concept albums.) Darkness, Zeus, Book of Rhymes, Gnat, No Regrets.. just a few to check out. In terms of technical lyricism, word play, multi syllable rhyme schemes, he's better than he was back in the day... But, being 45.. This album will always have a special place for me... lol. ✌

@@CSpad I'm not really a rap or hip hop guy. But this plays into Eminem transcending genre's way back when. He was fun to listen to. By being a product of his time, the lines about Pam and Tommy, and Tom Green have zero relevance passed like 2002. People probably have no idea what the lines really go for. I heard some stuff in recent years and it was pretty cringe, but again, I don't really follow hip hop.

@@bibby42 all good and I appreciate you be sincere and honest. I wouldn't ever attempt to judge a genre that isn't my favorite or that I have some technical understanding etc. Em still references a lot of old & new pop culture references in his new stuff, obviously for his long term fans etc. To each their own musical, it's all subjective not only sonically but how it hits you internally.. like most artist. All good. Staying somewhat on topic though. Only because your post reminder me of 2 nights ago with my 16 yr daughter & my wife. Where we watching some show that had older references and my wife & I got them & then start doing our own older pop culture, movie references from the 80's , 90's & etc.. and she doesn't know 90% of them. . It's sad that this thing I'm typing on is going to have so many kids looking back on their childhood & not having as many different things we experienced. (Before I get the back seat parents. My daughter was always limited on screen time. She's been straight A student in honors classes, does chorus...(as much as I tried to get her into a sport she's just like her mother.. lol.. ) And at 15 as a freshman, with a job, as long as she maintains her GPA, (1st jobs gone), keeps her room acceptable and is working paying for all these fing sweatshirts (as a father I'm thrilled that my daughter wears a sweatshirt to school every day, don't get me wrong. But how she does it in S.Florida in Aug. Sept & then turn the ac vent off her when in the car, baffles me as sweats pouring off me in shorts and a tee shirt.) And through freshman yr & till now she's met the requirements to go to bed when she wants to & have her screen time. (Side note: she did lose her phone for a 3 months on 7th grade for a C, and she was on limited screen time then.) Maybe cause of the Era of growing up right before (born in 76') with slow crawl of technology.. compared to past 20 years, you kind of appreciate both.. but aren't as attached to a screen as people. Sry for the essay. Wish ya nothing but the best. ✌

@@CSpad Don't apologize for the long post! This is what I remember being on KZfaq prior to 2010. The best part of comments was sharing stories and relating to one another! Nowadays people like to crap on one another and try to reign superiority for some odd reason. I'll be 36 soon, and could not imagine having a kid. I do have a 16 year old brother and a 10 year old sister, so I remember being their age experiencing things that they'll never experience. I played basketball and rode bikes with my friends, and neither of my siblings care for sports or know how to ride a bike! I was talking with someone just yesterday about a memory I have being 3-4 and playing at the park with my friends and our parents weren't even around. That's a scary thought today! But, my sister is Carmen Sandiego for Halloween, which surprised the Hell out of me that she knew who that was. I live in middle GA, and she is like that as well with wearing sweatshirts/ hoodies and pants lol. She went to a few water parks this passed summer and wore pants and a shirt lol. Anywho, I wish you well my friend!

My daughter is being Captain Underpants.. which thru me for a loop. I'm like the kids book we read to you.. lol. I agree or understand everything in your post. I just turned 45. But, I remember being as early of 2nd grade, going off on our bikes with freinds, no cell phones, be home by dark or use that quarter to call on a payphone.. lol.. dating myself.. Yeah, bike lessons did not go well.. my wife gave up, my daughter gave up on me trying to teach her... Now 16 & no interest in a license. Like wtf are you kidding me... we couldn't wait. (Not that I'm disappointed I paying higher insurance & making sure she's driving a safe vehicle.. and it's sure as hell not gonna be my truck or wife's car full time.. slow your roll, slightly used Kia is better then the 15 yr old corolla with a shot clutch I had as my 1st car.... I'm scared for the future . Lol Good chatting with ya.. ✌

No One thinks it's random nonsense. More like they don't have the guts or sensitivity to stomach most of it. They rather listen to songs talking about butterflies and love, or 100 different rap songs talking about killing other niggas and slinging drug, like they aren't all exactly the same shit

Backstory to this song.. Em & Dre turned in the Marshall Mathers Lp. The album this ended up on.. and his 2nd major release after Slim Shady LP & the "My Name is" track.. (he had Infinite & ssep before signing with Dre) Jimmy iovine from intertscope said the album was great but it's a lil dark (to say the least) and we need a radio track to market it . Em & Dre were pissed... Em was actually pouting basically in the studio.. hat down laying bak in the couch as they played beats etc.. the keyboardist played the stems of this track & Em perked up.. and wrote it in like 2 days. The best part about it was, he literally trolled all the pop stars & boy bands that he hated, and knew he would be put in rotation with almost every radio station with.. 50 cent learned from the master of trolling.. lol. So many Em haters say this song was trash without knowing his intentions behind it. And it was a way to get the Stan, Way I Am, Kill you, Kim, Criminal etc. Out to the masses.. As Drake just posted a few days ago, with a pic of Em " He is so underappreciated" . End of his quote, but it's not fans or rappers, it's critics or entertainment world. Not by fans though. He's been averaging around 450 million listens on Spotify over the last 2 yrs. No artist, hip hop or any other genre that came out in the 90's is doing anywhere near those type of numbers and he's beating Kayne who just dropped an album... overly promoted

Yep, This was pre internet /social media. His stuff was flying off the shelfs. Parents, TV, radio sensoships where outraged with him. I think the advisory for explicit content was created because of him. Now I feel the new generation would cancel him themselves the same way the old gen was so offended back then. And genx is still just singing along 😆

No the advisory for explicit content was started by N.W.A, (Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Eazy E, MCRen, DJ Yella) more specifically when they released the song, “F**k The Police” in ‘88 on the same album as “Straight Outta Compton”

You can possibly view Dr. Dre being on a milk carton as.. Ever since "Slim Shady" came on to the scene, people have been asking "Shady" where has he been and "Shady" says locked in "his" basement. (Dr. Dre has been too busy for his own rap career, he's been helping Eminem).

Dear Rana, very nice reaction to this classic Eminem song! While being a metalhead, Eminem is one of the few rap artists I can listen to and whom I've always appreciated for his meaningful lyrics and great songwriting. By the way, I like your Dino costume... with this dress you could come to Germany in February when here is "Karneval" or "Fastnacht". People go out on the street with all kind of disguises, make a lot of noise, make party with marching bands and drink a lot of alcohol, haha... it's a sort of a traditional ceremony to chase away the winter demons, I think you would like it:-) 😃

His new stuff within the past few years has been way more lyrically advanced than his older stuff. Like even for people that have listened to hip hop their entire lives, they can't catch everything in one listen. Most times not even multiple listens. BTW! This is my first time watching you! Your positivity is infectious! It ALMOST got through my negativity armor, but alas, my dark heart remains untouched.

I think you're doing a marvelous job reacting to Em's videos. I'm Israeli-born, and come from Nova Scotia, Canada where we have quite a few hardworking Lebanese families, mainly Christian Lebanese, who immigrated largely back in the 60s and 70s, but also more recently. It's truly sad what's happened and is happening to Lebanon right now, and I can only imagine what life is like there. Please take the best care of yourself, and let's hope that somehow the country will get the governance and funding it so desperately requires.

This one is basically saying that there are so many things out there worse than me, but you’re only against me because your kids relate to me and like me because I look like them so you have to make an example of me. EMINEM is against the Grammies and other award shows because they lie to big name artists just to get them there so they can say that they have these big names there so people will watch even though they always give it to the most popular person at the moment even though others deserve it more. He even stayed home from the Grammies and watched cartoons with his daughter when his movie 8 Mile came out because he thought he had no chance of winning and he actually did. He won best score for a film that year and it was the first rap song to ever do so. No, EMINEM never had a problem with Dr. Dre, Dre is his friend and mentor, he was just playing around with the fact that Dre promised us a Detox album and finally after 12 years of waiting he finally gave us the soundtrack to Straight Outta Compton as his final album instead of Detox and so many people were upset by that and are still waiting for Detox to come along, but after 12 years of waiting and starting over and over again he fears that the hype has built up so much around that title that no matter what he puts out under that name no matter how amazing it is will never live up to the hype.
