React to Destiny's Child, SWV, Xscape, Cherish, Danity Kane, TLC, Pussycat Dolls, Fifth Harmony, Little Mix, and The Spice Girls. New Kids On The Block just put out new music I think. One of the members has a brother that's a really famous actor and they had a reality show. Backstreet Boys are doing pretty good. They still tour (pre-covid). They've done dancing shows and one member now has a podcast. The members of NSYNC have done extremely well over the years. They broke up years ago but they all have done pretty well for themselves. One member was a judge on a dance competition show. Other members have done hosting. And obviously Justin Timberlake is still doing extremely well. Justin Timberlake just did a new song on DJ Khaled's new album that just came out. Justin has also written alot of SZA's songs. He' s written for Beyonce, Rihanna, and Ciara as well.

I would say that the Jackson 5 is the prototype to the present day boy band or "idol " groups. You guys should really check them out.

I grew up with these groups and a whole bunch more. We used to have some great boy groups here. The concerts were so much fun, and I still listen to the music. I went and saw Backstreet Boys in concert three years ago - they are still FINE and talented.

I was a HUGE *NSYNC fangirl back in middle school/high school in the late 90s/early 2000s. It was no surprised that I got into kpop so easily a few years after they broke up. Haha. And of course my bias was Justin. lol

Guys they aren’t called idols they are artists it’s America and it’s very different of how kpop works and how kpop idols work I know that what they are use to calling groups idols but in other counties it doesn’t work how it does in kpop also I can see a lot of groups especially boy groups influence from all of these amazing iconic og boy groups I mean without it kpop really wouldn’t exist

Everybody came out when I was 5, the first time I listened to it was on a boombox, and I still remember every word. The nostalgia is strong with this one and also I feel old lol

NKOTB are still touring well they were before COVID. I went to their Mixtape tour back in 2019...Blockhead for life. Also NKOTB & Backstreet Boys did a tour together couple of years back.

I love how they keep referring to our boy band era as "old pop" because we had pop long before these groups showed up. 😂 The mid to late 90s and early 2000s were the boy band and girl group era of pop music for America, but pop has been around for decades prior to that. I guess my childhood is old and the stuff that came before can now be called "classic pop." I'm also surprised they didn't mention that the Wahlberg boys (Donnie and Mark) were in NKOTB. They just knew JT from *NSYNC. I guess he's the only one well known in South Korea? I have no clue, but I still found that interesting. As for the Backstreet Boys "claw" dance move, that was very similar to Michael Jackson's Thriller choreography and I'm pretty sure that was the inspiration (MJ is an excellent example of pop that predates all three of these groups) for that video, song, and choreography.

BSB and New Kids, are still together. They toured together a few years ago. 98% was another one! They tore up little girls hearts everywhere they went but they weren't together very long.

I’m super late, but Backstreet was the name of a market the members used to frequent in their home town Orlando. So they name themselves the Backstreet Boys.

I got to go to 7 new Kids On The Block concerts for free back in the early 90's thanks to my sister and Danny. She was dating Danny who is one of the members of that group. I grew up in Boston during the 80's and 90's so they are my favorites

I lived in California back with NSYC was really popular. They performed in an open air stage behind my house. I could NOT hear them singing over the screams of about 20,000 girls for 2 hours or more LOL It was about 1 mile from me and it was LOUD

One of these Bands holds a Member that quit and became a Big star in under wear model and went on to become a hugh Hollywood superstar. His brother is still in the band. He also went on to be part of a music group called Marky Mark and the funky bunch.

It's funny that he mentions he wants an idol group that brings back the nostalgic feeling that older groups had because now we have New Jeans which is bringing back early 2000s pop vibes.

Its so crazy how kpop idols today have never heard of Backstreet Boys or any of these iconic american groups. I’m sure in the 90’s & 2000’s things were different considering how 90’s kpop group H.O.T was based on the formula of the Backstreet Boys and the two groups actually went on a korean talk show together in 1996 when Backstreet Boys toured Korea. The video clip of the two groups on that show is still up on youtube if you type “Backstreet Boys hot”. Also, TVXQ (東方神起/동방신기) did a cover of that particular New Kids on the Block song; Step by Step. That clip is still on Dailymotion if you type “DBSK step by step -tohoshinki” (because they released a japanese song of the same name). I guess this era of kpop is very different from the 90’s & 2000’s Kpop ; kpop back then would be very in tune with American pop music.

New Kids on the block still do tours. I took my kids to see them in 2019. The mix tape tour was great. . Makes me go back in time haha. Now I'm taking them next February to see Monsta X. The tour was finally rescheduled. I'm dying to buy BTS tickets. But NKOTB are the ones who made me fall in love with pop music as a kid. Nostalgic.

I heard about a pop singer back in the days, a Korean raised in America, tried to bring this 90s pop vibe to Korea, but he was treated like a trash when he was young. Then, some guys noticed that new Korean pop idols look just like him from the past. And now, he has success in Korea with his old jam.

The genre Motown and the artists Jackson 5, Temptations, Earth Wind and Fire are the groups that really started the boy band movement, in my opinion. Then yt people took it and made money off of it because blck people weren't allowed in mainstream media. So in come Backstreet boys and the like.
