Yes. They're taught to keep their composure at all times. But, it does break from time to time. A member of Treasure is catching heat right now for cursing at a fan at the airport who tried to grab him. Netizens are trying to get him canceled for it and he's in trouble. It's ridiculous that they can't show any humanity or defense mechanisms. I think this is part of the reason idols get extremely depressed (amoung other reasons, of course). There's a female idol who confirmed dating rumors and she had to write an apology for falling in love with someone. Netizens have rented truck signs outside of the label asking the label to remove her from the group. These two instances are going on right now. It's crazy.

10:20 at fansigns like these, it is expected that you stop and greet each member for a bit as you go down the line, maybe get a handshake or a high-five, Skipping over a member is NOT common at all. Even fans who have favorites will still wait and greet each member, weather they are the first or last in the lineup, so what she did was considered really rude. especially because she would still have to wait for the person in front of her to have their time, so there was no reason to skip three members unless she really didn’t want to talk to them 🤷‍♀️

If you watch carefully this fan was accompanied by a staff member (lady in a white shirt), so it's obviously not intentional and probably something has happened that is not shown in this video. There are multiple videos with early-BTS that are taken out of context and trying to portray a situation of fans skipping some members. While in reality these are either staff members approaching a specific member or situations like this (when a fan forget her stuff). A heritage of 2015-2016 era with Big3 attempts to make BTS look like they are not popular
@faithslayer500
@faithslayer500 2 ай бұрын
I don't really agree with you Max. I agree that you can't force "fans" to pay attention to the less popular members, but I dont think it should be socially acceptable to skip over them, to turn your cameras away, to make it obvious that they are not valued, etc. There are social rules to belonging to a fandom or to any community group and being disrespectful (especially in person) or making others feel less than should be something you are criticised & ostracised for. Once those basic acts of rudeness become normalised, people start to feel more and more entitled to be actual assholes. It's not okay.
@thedarkestpath7464
@thedarkestpath7464 2 ай бұрын
And in that specific clip as well as Kyla’s case in general, it wasn’t that fans weren’t paying her enough attention, it was to the point that they purposely excluded her and they made very clear why. They literally bullied her out of Kpop.
@Molly-iw1rc
@Molly-iw1rc 27 күн бұрын
I agree, if you are seeing a group then you should see the whole group, not only who you like the most. Many of those fans actually hate the other members, and purposefully want to hurt them. That's the only reason they would be that way.
@marinernx619
@marinernx619 2 ай бұрын
What's really upsetting is that a lot of companies encourage these behaviours, not intentionally but for example, a lot of companies have a no dating policy so the idols aren't allowed to date which gives more space for fans to fantasize about them and thinking that they're actually their boyfriend/girlfriend. If all idols could date freely, I think most of the fans would understand that they have a life and they're not theirs. Of course there would always be some really crazy ones but I feel like that would probably reduce the problem.

As a kpop fan, no other group of people is as vile and toxic as kpop fans. Sure, not all of them, but many. I've seen more death threats in my one year of being a kpop fan than I have in my entire life. Especially haters are mind-blowing. In fact just recently an idol named Kim Ji Woong got into a huge controversy because someone faked a video of him cursing and he got cancelled. Yes, for cursing, and it was proven to be fake. Knetz have been sending him death threats, asking the company to remove him from his group, making fun of him and insulting him, all because they hate him. And they hate him for no reason (actually, homophobia plays a big part here because he acted in gay dramas). Even now that it was proven to be fake they still hate him and are trying to ruin his reputation. So I would love if Max could do a video analyzing Jiwoong's behaviour and treatment to fans to help clear his name a bit ♥🥺

I was surprised to see you come from an opinion that it's okay for fans to skip greeting certain idols in the group, I guess because it's so ingrained in kpop stan culture that the respectful thing to do is to greet each member politely so that less popular members aren't constantly being passed over. You're right that you can't make people pay attention to you. I still think it's a positive thing that the community has the etiquette of greeting all members in the group (ESPECIALLY in a fanmeeting setting)
@maxpbeaumont
@maxpbeaumont 2 ай бұрын
I hear you. Appreciate the comment. Of course people should greet each member. It's obviously the respectful thing to do and passing by them can be quite rude. But again, there could be other factors at play. Some of these fans are really young and their excitement to see their favourite idols can be overwhelming/distracting. I just thought the tone of the video made it feel like this was a rule that needed to be enforced. Which I thought was a bit much. But, perhaps I misinterpreted the tone of the clip, I dunno. I'm willing to say I was wrong!

@@maxpbeaumont thanks for explaining your perspective! You're right. It's a good idea to give people the benefit of the doubt and not assume that they're trying to be rude. Perhaps I'm a little desensitized to kpop content like the original video where tone and presentation are often "a bit much"!

I grew up in the Beatles era and they had a lot of trouble with fans trying to grab them. They also had to keep their wives and girlfriends secret for a longtime. Fortunately eventually we found out about them and the fans who supported them outweighed those who threw a fit. Chen of EXO had fans protesting outside his agency demanding he got divorced when he even had child by the time they found out. A fan followed V into his apartment block and went into the lift with him and had marriage papers with her for him to sign. He is also sick of fans shipping him with JK and has asked them to stop being delusional. I look forward to the members of BTS finding their life partners, getting married and having children so I sincerely hope that fans give them the space and privacy to do that. Poor Tablo suffered greatly when he announced the birth of his daughter. There was an orchestrated campaign against him which involved threats against his family members and claims that he had not got his degree from Stanford despite the university providing proof that he had. He was hounded for three years. No one deserves that.

Yeah Tablo hund was crazy but I learned about it later, but Chen thing I saw when it was going, and I couldn't believe, it was sick... When I saw the things "the fans" did, I couldn't believe, protesting is one thing, but this people come before agency with all the merch of Chen and put it on fire bc he betryed them?! They feld cheated so they burn down things to show anger? Like WTF, there were going photos on interneten how his merch was in trachcans, it was so hard to watch and I never listen to Exo, but I was ashamed of this people and it wasen't even fandom I have anything to do. I think going into military then was the best decision, bc it give the break that was needed, bc of this craze... And then when he had second child I didn't heard much, expect so stupid comments, that she should leave band and take care of family, bc how people can be fans of married man with kids, like WTF? You are here to be fan of music and craft, and even if you feel you can't tirst after Idol bc he has family it is on you not the idol... Like it still anger me... When I think about this girl that ambushed Suga to kids him, I get skin crawls... I don't know what this people thing. I only happy that nothing happened and he succesfully run... It is sometimes shocking that with all this that happenes to some artists, they still are kind people.

if the idol tries to stand up for themselves then the toxic netizens try to cancel them and their companies don't necessarily stand up for themThe k-pop industry is at blame for all of this at root....they give way too much access to these idols and encourage such delusional thinking . In the US I never see such madhouse stampede at airports like in Korea. When some idols have done events (fashion shows, etc) in other countries, the body guards hired there seem to do a better job protecting them from unhinged fans.

Although V is the only one idol I know who has friend-zoned ARMYs on Weverse (ha! ha!), he is still one of those idols out there who really love his fans, especially kids. There's more to those BTS videos than meet the eye. There are different angles of those videos that really tell stories. A simple advice: Be careful when accepting recommended videos like this next time. He he. Usually, videos like this provoke hate towards the featured idols... and V is always one of those being targeted. Borahae.

Sadly, Idols must be very careful in their reactions to avoid backclash. The roles are completely reversed in South Korea, netizens are all powerful and celebrities are dehumanized. They must be more than perfect and if they make the slightest "mistake", the netizens will do everything to destroy them. It's quite scary.

I agree with what you said about the male fans of female idols being more of a threat. Not saying there aren't insane female fans, but I've noticed over the years how a lot of female groups (especially with young members and from smaller companies) have large male fanbases of significantly older men and as someone who is a fan of girl groups I've encountered these fans at concerts and on Twitter. I've witnessed them sexualize and fetishize these girl groups and make the fandoms not a safe place for women. Again, it's not all male girl group stans, but it's true that the groups and their management have to be extra cautious.

More recently it was reported of a stalker fan had multiple times gained access into residential building of Taehyung the last time she was able too step into a lift with him and try and give him a marriage certificate we don’t have details of if he was without security or how they got onto the lift in the car park or building but scarily these toxic fans do all they can too push themselves into BTS and other idols small part of life they have having only minimal time too themselves and then these toxic fans make it difficult for them.. previously Taehyung has talked about BTS having too stop having comercial flights as toxic fans paid bribed and worse too buy up the seats on planes etc same with hotels and on vlive spoken about the anxiety they all have especially airports and banging on cars .. there was a live only few yrs ago think was first concert la pandemic era jk had someone calling his mobile hotel phones.. JK had a toxic fan call his intercom at home another sent food too his home address and these are only some that we know off sure more throughout the years and not made public but that’s one band toxicity in the K-pop industry is scary within its own country then there’s globally but then wider again whole music and entertainment industries globally all have to deal with these and like you mentioned with online comments it’s another outlet that can show the toxic nature … we can only keep ourselves and others in check by calling it out and positively reinforcing the group or groups individuals we follow put out respect and positive energy and we should follow that example. I’m not a oOG Army but I think we need too better reaffirm that as Army there are unspoken rules ready for 2025 that’s my 2p thought 🫰🏼

the thing about setting boundaries is that sadly the haters and bad behaved "fans" are the loudest people and if you set boundaries they will try to cancel you for not being the little toy they want you to be. so it's very tricky and horrible. nobody should be in a position where they have to forcibly let others disrespect them in fear of such an insane reaction from people. and sometimes even the media plays a role and paints the victim as the villain. honestly if you love someone, you don't disrespect their limits. and the obsessive behavior can literally take the live of an artist. haters, antis, sasaengs or whatever you wanna call it are all insensitive and inconsiderate people.

The member who noticed (Kyujin) was so concerned and had to pick up the baby to give back to the mother. Unfortunately some kpop stans seriously do not know how to behave and idols are trained to try and stay composed in these situations.

Not gonna lie, this made me feel so uncomfortable. Some of these so-called fans are clearly not mentally sound. I was brought up to be respectful and kind. I don't think these people understand that idols are just normal people, they get scared and upset just like everyone else and they have absolutely no right to treat them this way. This made me think of the time during one of RM's recent lives where he'd clearly had enough of the immature/inappropriate comments and was calling people out. I think the idols need to carry on doing this so that people understand that their behaviour is unacceptable and won't be tolerated

They don't know you. They never will. Celebrities have a relationship with the fanbase. We are only one individual part of a fan base. We may know a lot about them and even their personalities, but we don't actually know them at all, and we don't have some right to them. The most we can hope for is a quick response on social media or a breif interaction at an event. These toxic moments can harm that relationship and should be called out and adressed. Also I think in Korea, it would be considered rude not to acknowledge or greet each member as they are a part of the whole group. It's not toxic exactly or threatening, but rude. I can understand young idols being a little stung.

Ahh so I saw that people talked about the girl in BTS video, yes! this is like coping and paste a lie, one person saw one clip and made story in their head and then next person picked it up. BUT, You are wrong in what you said, bc it is about fan culture in fansigns, I understand what you try to say, but reality is, it would be very rude to skip member at the fansing of any band, like fansings are rare event, that not many people can attent, and this event are quiet strick and very orginized. You are in line and you have the same time with every member, there is no skiping, or moving in the line to your fav..., you literally stand before band member for amound of time, so to skip member you literally would have to stand there and ignore them, and it would be like shot in the foot, bc all members and staff would see it, you could be even ban from future events... It is not light thing to do like you tried to make it, and I agree there are worst things thrn skiping on fansign, but it is still very rude. No to say BTS members remember people from fansigns, it may sounds crazy, but one girl said she was lucky to be on 3 fansigns, and RM even talked with her about things they talked last time, and it was like 2 or 3 years apart events, She said that she could see that some members clearly remebered her, but one think it is to have thoughts like "hmm this face is fimilar" to totally different thing is remember conversation, of course it wasen't like automatic, but when she asked about thing connected to last time they talked, RM knew what she mean and honestly answered, she was shocked, and told him that she didn't think he would remember, and he said that they remembers all the fans. The sane situation was with different fan that share her and Suga meeting, the fan said that it was her turn with him and she said hello and give things for him to sign, and started to talk what she wanted to tell him, she said and looked at her and asked her about something she told him last time, she cried and thanked him for rememering and he also suad , they may not remembervall conversations but they make sure to remember all faces they meet. And is there more beautiful thing between fan and their idol. Ah And yeah here may be some rude fans, but truly delelu fans it is different level. Rude dosen't even come close. And the worst thing is that the most times Idols can't do anything... Bc then they will be bad ones.

before watching. YES, the fans are horrible at times. toxic They love to hate and cause drama and are often mean to the idols at fanmeets for some reason. they barrage them at airports and other places, stalk them anytime they can, pay people for personal information after. i stand by my words still. i will argue that you are wrong about skipping idols at fanmeets. it causes hurt feelings, drama in the fandom and sometimes problems in the group itself , which oculd lead to a member leaving or worse. recently, idols are fighting back and calling out bad fans. Exo and Vixx are well known for keeping good control of their fandom at fanmeets and such. those idols do NOT tolerate shenanigans.

Would love to see you react to TREASURE ‘SHINING SOLO’ It’s a DATING SHOW which is very rare among idols!! I think it would be fun to react to that! There’s only one episode out and it already has 2.4 MILLION views!!!!

I don’t think any of these fans are young enough where they don’t understand basic social etiquette. Especially in a county like Korea. I think you’re giving way too much lead way to just plain rude and entitled fans and I’m shocked you came to this conclusion.

okay idk how much u know about this rude fan culture but certain things right now that is happening wd specifically V in his own fandom is quite disgusting. Armys are name calling him on social media, writing nasty comments for him nd wt not wishing the worst for him. These things are overlookded bcz noone is really trying to show i clearly but its evident tht 90% or more armys are boycotting yes literally boycotting Tae's work just bcz he is one of the most famous guy in bts especially since his solo fandom is the strongest but idk how much ur aware of this army cukture happening but this is the truth nd i know some rude armys or so called armys will come nd call me solo or wt not for pointi g this out but its ok bcz those who really love tae are often overlooked upon as if they don't exist even they never do anything nasty to anyone before but see their favrt get called wt not. You can think am making up thinks since i love tae too wd all other members but armys are good in influencing ppl to believe tht they are right nd others are wrong so idc i said wt i am seeing since 2019 that is really shameless of armys

It’s extremely sad too see and I think we do neeed too all embrace equality for all members too remember qualities been lost as growth happens pros and cons but re-educating each other and keeping true too BTS example the guys love and embrace respect each other and uplift each other we should be doing the same for each of them too your not alone the truth of Army will rise too the challenge alongside each member and as a group💜

Tae's solos are my personal favorite, but they are significantly different stylistically from everyone else's or the group as a whole. I figure a lot of fans would consider it important to at least check out every member's releases, but it doesn't follow that everyone must stream or purchase x7, divided perfectly equally...

Armys are not the same armys of 2018. These new fans and big accounts are all solo/akgaes with a hate boner for Taehyung. The company grooms this sentiment.
