They're also really popular in korea dw ~~ it's only the music videos on television that are banned, so that it won't influence people watching, but it can still be played on the radios, if it's not declared as inappropriate by the public ~ also, eg. Boombayah is only banned on kbs, so sbs and mbc (...) can still show it ~ edit: just found out, that companies can also alter the songs to fit the regulation of the networks and then play it ~

The vulgar language in Dope was just an excuse, in my opinion. The only thing that was considered vulgar by broadcast stations was Hoseok’s rap “all you weak, whiny, crybaby losers” and both Korean and international fans have been saying that it’s silly to ban a song over just that. The song was most likely banned cuz the higher-ups didn’t enjoy being called out

The word dope in Korean can be seen as a swear word by older generations. It’s a much more common word now and younger gens don’t think of it as a “swear word” but older people still do including my parents haha
