- ok, i added the songwriters to the video, just turn on the ENGLISH subtitles! ♡ - about the "MONSTA X song not being a KPOP song" note i put in the video: that text is HORRIBLY worded. what i wanted to express is that i'm making a compilation of songs in korean (originally the title of this video was "korean songs with...") but i wanted to add those mx songs too bc 1. it's kpop even if the songs are in english and 2. i won't do a compilation of english songs bc that's not what the channel is about and the videos would last 3 weeks. my english was broken that day. - also, this video is about lyrics. it doesn't matter the context of the music video, if the artist explained later "oh, yea, the songs speaks about this situation". i just found songs with lyrics that looked weird, a bit problematic and even funny and made this compilation. don't take it that deep, no one is telling you to stop listening to any of these songs/artists or that people need to cancel them. just by reading the description you'll know is not that serious!

Hey do you wanna hear some suggestions? I suggest you change the title as "kpop songs with lyrics that sounds weird/problematic/funny for me" or something like that, because it seems like even though you already clarified it some people just do not understand. I feel like not all of these songs are actually problematic. Like, obviously the lyrics in themselves are toxic, but a lot of these are just telling a story. Stalker or Psycho or Monster are (too me obviously) not meant literally but are telling a piece of fiction. Like movies about killers or whatever are not meant to encourage you to kill. But that also does not apply to all of these tho. Also I miss History a lot, Psycho remains a whole ass bop.

So she want that 'boy' to be serious about his feelings to her so she wouldn't getting played by him. Usually younger girls always told by their older sister or mother that boys like to played with girl's feeling or whatever so they afraid their feelings would getting played if she just gave her heart easily. And i think society often said that the ones who likes to played with girl's feelings is a BOY or the one who's not mature enough. A man is the one who's mature enough to not playing with girl's heart. Ugh, it's so hard to explain it bc my english isn't verry good 😩 i'm sorry
@teukun6453 жыл бұрын
@@simperson9801 i get what you're saying about these stereotypes, and how the girls wish their lover to man up. But at the end of the day, it is a toxic stereotype cause it sugest that are man who are not man(?) Because they don't know how to "man up" (whatever the hell that means), If you know what i mean. And it also suggest that man is the one who should start/approach the girl in a relationship which is also another bad stereotyping. Yes cheer up is a good song, but the lyrics and the messege it sends is toxic and shouldn't be defended. 🙏
@simperson98013 жыл бұрын
@@teukun645 Yeah, but it's not like twice told boys to not to cry or smth like that to be a "real man" tho. And there's a more toxic streotype like "boys will be boys" to excuse boys can play with girl's heart or etc, and at the end of the day cheer up is came from teenage girl's point of view who've never fall in love and at some point they don't want to break their heart bc some boys will boys. Is not that deep, and tbh mostly relatable to some teenage girls just like another twice's song, example : TT, Likey, Heart shaker and many more

@@leonardodavinci4259 to be fairrr, and take what i'll say with a pinch of salt;. If it were boys who were singing it it could be seen by the general public as more problematic for the simple fact that socially, boys are seen as beings that can cause more harm to girls if they don't understand that no is no. And from my perspective, it's usually girls that have to deal with guys insisting upon them because they don't get what consent is. So if a boy group came up with a concept similar to yes or yes, people would be more triggered because girls in real life actually struggle with boys that keep on insisting on them after they say no, while it can happen to boys, it's more common for girls to be harassed that way. But Yes or Yes is not a cute concept song, it's a creepy one. So you are supposed to be creeped out by the lyrics because it's part of the whole glowing eyes situation they have in the music video. It's not normalizing lack of consent, it has an awareness that the lyrics are creepy because the concept IS creepy.

Kpop idols are allowed to sing about toxic messages like toxic relationships or toxic beauty standards. Sweet Lies are lyrics through the eyes of a cheater, which is still an expression of art and I honestly don't see anything wrong with it. The Exo members are not romanticizing their lyrics, but actually calling them out. Like I said: context.

I mean, they can be taken wrong. It’s not as if what they’re singing about is objectively bad, but the framing, tone, and context. I’ll use cheer up for example, it’s for the most part a harmless song about a flimsy romance. But certain parts paint a picture of a relationship that lacks severe communication (the whole “I won’t tell you what I feel or reply, to keep you hanging on a thread”), and also kind of perpetuates toxic masculinity (that one part where they’re basically saying “man up and deal with it, even if you’re confused and hurt, you shouldn’t feel anything or care at all”.) Like you can still like the song, and I’m sure most can tell this isn’t exactly a healthy relationship you should model yours after, but you should be mindful of the message. Most of the songs here are like this, objectively aren’t bad, you just shouldn’t internalize anything they say, or take them seriously. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying them though

@Ffff 5edg how can a relationship between an UNNATURAL CREATURE and a human be ridiculous and called as problematic ? It's a work of fiction and impossible to happen 🙃 others have already said that it's not a matter of man and woman, but a literal werewolf and a HUMAN 😩 I know that without context the lyrics are super weird but there is a whole storyline to it going on for YEARS now. EXO play a role of aliens from Exoplanet, of course there is gonna be a theme talking about the encounters with human race, given that there are also other parallels and dimensions to the EXO universe, so they can be wolves, football players or gamers.It's actually REALLY interesting :) So naturally lyrics of Monster are a part of this storyline as well
@foxyyyyexo3 жыл бұрын
@Anna Schiltz Their whole concept is them being ALIENS, I don't think werewolves are that bad 😆 There's MUCH more to this concept and I don't know how much familiar you are with it. There's just too much to explain 😅 And that's exactly what makes this song even more real, they are FIGHTING with their instincts. If you look at the lyrics I think that love isn't even the main theme. And the order of what's happening in the song is a bit different, they see the human as a prey first but then gain feelings. It's probably the first time they're this close to a human so there's an internal conflict of feelings and instincts that they are trying to fight with. I'm not saying you have to like it or sth but this song is actually super accurate if you want to describe what a creature would feel falling for a human for the first time. That's why I also don't know how you can find a song that refers to a fairytale problematic (Korean title is "The wolf and the beauty"). That's how you can actually shift attention from the songs and lyrics that ARE problematic and need to be discussed to just mocking lyrics you don't find nice for the sake of good laugh. Unconsciously we can do more harm than we think. About fairytales, their whole album XOXO that features Wolf refers to different fairytales, they are just good at making those references subtle. Like I said there's so much to this concept that if you're not looking deep into it many things won't make sense to you. It's already planned years ahead and it connects all of their MV's, VCR's, lyrics, release dates etc. I'm not gonna explain more because I'll just end up writing a whole paper💀

1:18 Monsta X - got my number This song is not toxic and let me explain This song was released for Valentine’s Day and this song was comforting for those who are in toxic relationship to let them know they are not alone ”when you realize it ain’t him that’s on your mind” To let you realize it’s okay if you realized later that this person is not who you wanted and they will always be there for you “ nobody needs to be lonely “ And this song comforted alot of people and you can see this if you entered to the comments each person this song comforted him in a different way sooo I don’t think this song is toxic at all it may seems like it but it’s not

Exactly, the lyrics has been taken out of context, when u see it as part of the song it doesnt seem problematic, basically they are saying incase the person s significant other doesnt love them enough they got ur back, they are saying that they will always be there to look out for them, it's actually really touching and conforting

@@pratheebaramesh i don't think the lyrics were taken out of context, i read the whole song and chose just a few but that's the meaning of the song and that's what this video is about. I think the reason why others misinterpret some songs is because the video only shows a part of the song. It's important to know the context of the songs' lyrics since some of them are connected to the whole story/message that the song conveys. I have seen other comments saying that some songs here shouldn't be listed as what the video says it to be and I agree with them completely. Basing the whole song out of a 5 second part's lyrics is like judging a book by its cover.

Just remember that music is an art form, and you're allowed to enjoy whatever concepts you want. With the exception of a few of these, theyre telling a story. We can enjoy movies or books about abuse or stalking because we know how to seperate a fiction from reality. Not every song has to be a bubbly "the world is great, look at my healthy romance" story. I know this is just a video for fun, no hate to OP this was an interesting video to watch haha. Just a reminder that no one should be guilty or try to cancel anyone for these songs

I agree. Songs aren’t always going to make you happy rather it can be uncomfortable at times especially to set a message. For example, Agust D “what do you think?” (Although controversial) I think it’s brings a great perspective that artist should not be solely held hostage to topics such as positive ones like self love or happiness, sometimes we need to be reminded of these things in order to grow. Life is not full of bubbles and honestly I feel like the sensation of being uncomfortable just kinda sticks with me more than a happy song. It’s not negative, I’m just more reminded of the message bc of the way it was conveyed?. At the end of the day, it’s not that deep

@Ffff 5edg you're probably right, changing the lyrics would've been one way to solve the problem. But then again, everybody knows that bts aren't the type of people to own up to their mistakes in a shallow and mediocre way. If they changed the lyrics but still performed the song it still would be controversial, knowing what the song originally meant. They apologized, went to universities and talked with professors about misogyny, women empowerment, etc. Later in their career they even made a song that's centered on women empowerment. I obviously can't speak for them but i look at it this way; BTS has never performed War of Hormone again, never talked about it, never promoted it, and they openly admitted that they were in the wrong, apologized for it and owed up to their responsibilities. Think of their whole career as art and growth, those mistakes were a part of them, changing them would oppose the beauty of the process. They acknowledged the mistakes they made and they didn't change anything about the past, knowing that it was a part of the art and growth that they are having. Again, at the end of the day, what's important is that they learned from it, and are currently one of the most unproblematic artists, not only in Korea but also all over the world.

A lot of these I feel- to me, that they aren't problematic, because the core of songwriting/singing/rapping is telling a story. And it's not love stories all the time, some of these songs show the bad stuff that happens in realtionships. But again, songs like war of the hormone, and JYP's whos your mama is uterrly dissappointing because they basically tell woman that they aren't enough. And and that one twice lyric about becoming a real man, that is toxic masculity, which is dissappointing since a lot of onces are male.
