@@thomasfoster2 No, they don't let civilians search at night, because of the dangers and then they would have to look for two people instead of one. You should think about going to the hundreds of anti cop and police hating channels if you want to bash the police. You will find lots of friends (thugs, criminals, and POS) there.

@@IcyBlueii They had the National Guard, police, volunteer dog trackers, and helicopters out here for 5 days looking for a lost boy. The idiots running the show, in their effeminate voices, told me and my buddies, who have been hunting the area all our lives, that we would have to go buy Patagonia clothing before we would be allowed to help. So ridiculous. Anyway, we didn't listen to them, split up into two groups, and headed out that same night we arrived at camp. Three of my buddies found him at daybreak and got their pictures in the paper. First rule, never stop locals from searching. Second rule, never believe that police are more capable than anyone else. Most of them are uneducated and out of shape.

I got lost as a child once, not in the woods it was in a big city and, this teenager found me crying behind a dumpster and he took my hand and said, I'm going to get you home buddy, it's alright. He spent 4 hours with me helping get me to a police station where they were able to figure out my mother's phone number and get me back to her. I don't remember his name or even why he decided to help me but, if not for him I don't know what would have happened to me. Thanks to people like him there are so many young lives saved.

This reminds me of an incident where I used to live. The lost boy, who was about 8, was a city kid who was lost all night in the woods. When the uniformed searchers found him, he didn't want to go with them because he had been taught not to go with strangers. One of the searchers told him they were going to take him to his mother. He replied, "How do I know you know my mother?" Street smarts all over the place. They got his mother on the radio who told him it was OK to go with the rescuers. No matter how scared he had to have been, he didn't forget what he was not supposed to do.

He didn't want any credit according to the news article: The man, who asked to not be identified, found the children around 9.30am about a mile from where officials believe they entered the forest, about 400 yards off a forest road in the area, in a dry creek bed. The do-gooder then called 911 and alerted authorities that he had found the children. The man told police that he preferred to remain anonymous as he want any public attention or praise for the good deed. Neighbors who know the man told officers that 'he's a quiet guy but always helpful.'

What utter cobblers. Rescuers. They stood there with their hands in their pockets keeping themselves warm. There was no urgency, even though the kids were freezing. No offer of a drink, a hug or reassurance that their parents were on their way. These were little kids not petulant teenagers. If that’s what you call a successful victory lady, then you need to think again.

I can't even begin to imagine the relief the parents felt when the kids were found. @@brookehaybel9693 the kids were all neighbors and allowed to play on the path that connected their houses. They didn’t come back at the time their parents told them.but I believe the parents thought they might be at the others house so it may have taken them a little bit longer to call or go over to the neighbors and realize the kids weren’t there and that’s when the search started. These aren’t siblings they are neighbors so the parents briefly thought their own kid was at one of the neighbor kids houses but they all realized pretty quickly and called police within a couple hours, the police just couldn’t find the kids that whole time... which is probably why that volunteer decided to just go out and look himself.

The man, who asked to not be identified, found the children around 9.30am about a mile from where officials believe they entered the forest, about 400 yards off a forest road in the area, in a dry creek bed. The do-gooder then called 911 and alerted authorities that he had found the children. The man told police that he preferred to remain anonymous as he want any public attention or praise for the good deed. Neighbors who know the man told officers that 'he's a quiet guy but always helpful.'
