Greetings, captains! This is the Krakatoa, a Super Destroyer build based on my Vulcan. It is my first modded ship build in Starfield, the largest ship that I've designed, and everything I was able to achieve in this build was made possible by mods.

Captains! I forgot to mention: If you haven't built the Vulcan and would prefer to just build the Krakatoa from the start, you can now skip the part gathering phases thanks to the Darkstar Astrodynamics mod. You'll still need to follow the requirements of the Vulcan build, but you can save some credits by completing your entire build at the DarkStar Terminus. Vulcan build start point: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hp6Xjdh0vMClmKM.htmlsi=VaWzwBoCm1i2FpwP&t=1075 Once you have that built, without leaving the builder, come back to the start of this build and make the changes that I made. XBOX PLAYERS: There does not appear to be a mod available to you that lets you increase equipped weapons. Instead, use the same weapons as the Omen (6x Vanguard Obliterator Autoprojectors, 3x Exterminator 95MeV Auto Helion Beams, and 6x Vanguard Hellfire Autocannons) and instead of using DarkStar's class B shield, use the class C shield that requires 12 power. Doing this will allow you to fully power your 5 primary systems completely, and whatever you have leftover from crew and skills can just be dedicated to your grav drive. I know your offensive capability will be slightly reduced, but at least you can trade that for extra defense. Why do I use those weapons? i think we have most of the mods required for this build on xbox. the max weapon count is 18 with a new mod so it should be fine. I'm about to start building this and I'm exited to do so 😃

You’re right, other than the weapon limit mod I’m using, there are equivalent mods on Xbox for everything else. Also you can just run the class C darkstar shield for some extra defense to make up for the reduced weapon count.

@@WizeOldWizard I just got done with the Vulcan it’s amazing!! ❤️ The weapon limit is pretty easy to get around, there are a few other mods I use that add stronger weapons. I just have to do a bit of math to check which one is best in terms of dmg/fire rate As for the class c darkstar shield… I have a mod that lets you add a shield that counts as a structural piece. It adds 1400 shield on its own and is stackable so no worries on that end

Love all your ship builds and have used a few as inspiration for my own ships and since you mentioned that you plan on getting the Place Doors Yourself just wanted to let you know that I had to put in a shutter and then place the port hole on top in order to get the interior window that you have on many of your builds.

Thanks for the heads-up, I won’t be using that mod until I enter NG+. I installed it and found that every hab on all 10 of my ships were converted to that mod’s ‘doorless’ habs, and I didn’t want to go through each of them and manually place everything. Spent enough time on them already!

Man, this ship is crazy awesome! Also, many older ships, from Ancient Egypt up until the early 20th century had devices similar to the "battering ram" part you have and they were just called "rams" or "rostra" in Roman times. In fact, in the original War of the Worlds book by H. G. Wells, three tripods were destroyed by an Ironclad Torpedo Ram by the name of HMS Thunderchild which torpedoed 2 of the tripods that entered the water in pursuit of the refugee ship & then used the ram to take out the third after sustaining fatal damage from the tripods' heat rays. So long story short, your ship is upholding a 3000 year old shipbuilding tradition. Also, IMO stuff like the expanded flips & place doors mods should have been in the base game from the start....

Love the ship She's a tank! I am too in favor of submerged or hidden windows like in the back. And the core, cool stuff. I try to incorporate that into my builds, lately I haven't been just due to the type of build and utilizing space inside the ship. Again awesome ship man.

As an idea. Have you considered making an ultra-heavy ship, that’s essentially just a mobile miniature space station? And having all the weapons be turrets so you can leave it sitting in one spot while you walk around, maybe peer out of some windows. I worked out that (with perks) the highest mass you can get while still grav jumping to any system is 9,274.

I have a couple of ships already that are relevant to this suggestion... First on is the Bristleback. It's not at maximum mass but it is as heavy as I could achieve while still equipping weapons and a shield. I could have removed engines down to one, but... The Slab is an absolute maximum mass, module limit, cargo hauler build that has no shields, or weapons, and only has one engine. With mods I could add weapons to it as I could now bypass the vanilla module limit, and I may make an update to that ship in the future. Thanks for watching!

Weapon power and count limit I don’t believe is available. A version on size limit is available but parts flipping is still limited to certain parts not the majority.

I know there are mods that remove some restrictions that are on Creations, I looked briefly. It’s possible that there’s a sort of all-in-one that includes weapon power limit increase. I can look at Creations on PC but I think that they may still be different between PC and Xbox. I’ll check what’s out there at some point today.

@N7-alpha when you install that, all the habs on your ships are converted to the mod’s ‘doorless’ versions. I would have had to go through my entire fleet and replace every door on 10 ships. I’ll install it again when I start NG+ builds. Thanks for watching again!

Well you COULD just download DarkStar Astrodynamics, and then just equip the Vulcan with the reactor, engines, and class C shield from that one mod and that alone would be well worth it. Massive performance increase with all the vanilla restrictions still intact.

@BakedBeanGaming absolutely not, easy as pie. Just build the Terminus (which is just a special landing pad with ship builder) and you’re set! It would be a good idea to check the mod author’s breakdown on his KZfaq channel.

The firepower and the speed will be necessary in NG+, especially the further you go into it. But you can see in the combat footage that this ship doesn’t make you invincible, even in an original universe. I still haven’t jumped to Unity and there were still a few moments in the big fights where I nearly became overwhelmed. Thank YOU again for watching!

Awesome build wizard like the armillary viewpoints... i have used mods to upgrade the baselisk you designed, also there is a simple mod which drops all engin power requirement to 1 which makes for cool looking destroyer class ships.

There are (currently) two items not available at the Terminus: the vanilla Comspike and Conduction Grid which you can get on the Key. I assume this is the case because the Dark Star mod can't know if you have access to the Key or not. It makes sense that if you don't have that access, you should not be able to get them via the Terminus either. So that is one extra shopping stop before you start building. But still an enormous improvement over having to shop all over the galaxy as before. 🙂 I finally built this monster today based on the Vulcan, it just took some time to get the different mods into the right loading order so that it could work.

It honestly doesn’t matter, you can stack two of each of the Darkstar Comspike, Conduction Grid, and Scan Jammer. Wykkyd confirmed that they do stack with each other.

Nice ship! I am working on a capital ship myself using the Matilija Aerospace mod. I wish we had a PvP ship battle mod. I'd love to do a "content creator battle royal" with all of our ships. We could do a modded round, and a vanilla round. It would be fun.

Oh damn! Is that mod for class M parts? I’ve heard mixed reviews about it… We would have such a blast having PvP ship battles. Hell we could even organize fleet battles where each side has a certain amount of different ship classes and go head-to-head. We need to find a modder that can make that happen!

@@WizeOldWizard I like the mod. They have this amazing 3x3x2 hab that has a ton of potential, and they have stairwell habs. And unlike the Avontech mod, these look like they belong in the game. I think the only issue with PvP would be it would have to be its own server. So someone would need to host the world, and others connect to it. Not impossible, but could be tricky.

There are suitable mods on Xbox with the exception of the weapon power limit. This being the case, choose the same weapons as you would in vanilla, but instead of the class B DarkStar shield, use the class C one.

The only mod that has no equivalent on Xbox is the one that removes the weapon maximum power restriction. You can still do everything else on Xbox, but instead of the class B DarkStar shield that I use, you should choose the class C one. It requires 12 power, and with 60 reactor power you can power all 5 of your ship’s important systems. So you’re trading a bit of offense for MUCH more defense. Nearly double in fact. I wouldn’t call that a bad compromise at all.

i use darkstar parts whenever i build the basilisk as well as the "glowing ship parts" mod and the avontech parts mod, the thing shreds even the legendary ships in seconds

DarkStar is fantastic! I will say that the cloaking device is a bit buggy, but I’m sure Wykkyd will patch those slight issues at some point soon.

You'll just have to mount two of them on one side, like I did in this video but minus one, or you could run the third one on an equipment plate up towards the nose of the ship. Best two I can think of off the top of my head. You're not going to use mods?

Salutations Captain Wizard ! I am an xbox player. So far I have built the Basilisk and Vulcan using your excellent ship build guides - thankyou and keep up the great work, very much appreciated. Since the Creations update dropped I have downloaded Dark Star's Astrodymamics mod [awesome piece of work] and wanted to update the Vulcan as per your Krakatoa guide. I have managed to get around the max ship modules issue with the Xbox Creations Ship Builder Tweaks mod and have updated the Vulcan accordingly re addition of cargo, windows and the replacement of the connecting tunnel link with the second viewable internal feature. Not sure when the left hand side hatch on the second deck was replaced with the ugly fridge malarkey stuff but it was definately there when I first built the Vulcan prior to the Creations update. I am aware that I will need the Ship Module Snap (and Flip) Expansion mod to complete the 'battering ram' feature at the front of the ship, seems weird that the Skeg B module does not have an attach point on the very front end of the Skeg in the vanilla game so that the Skeg C module can be attached directly to it. I assume that the Ship Module Snap (and Flip) Expansion mod provides extra snap points on various modules ? Anyway I think that there is at least one possible candidate for the Ship Module Snap (and Flip) Expansion mod available on Xbox Creations but I am not entirely certain right now. Would you - or anyone - know the name of Xbox Creations mod that will enable us Xbox users to build the 'battering ram' feature as depicted in your video. Also one last question - do you know if the vanilla Comspike & Conduction Grid modules benefits stack with Dark Star's equivalents or were you just adding Dark Star's Comspike & Conduction Grid modules for aesthetic reasons. Thanks again Wizard for your fantastic ship build videos, when I have finished with the Vulcan updates I intend to find a nice gas giant moon that I can build an outpost home base on - and move Lin & Heller from the frozen wastes of the Bessel outpost that they are currently residing on.

As for the DarkStar equipment modules, you can stack two of each of those and gain the benefits of both, but I’m not sure if they stack with the vanilla ones. Even if they don’t, the buffs received from those modules are still worth using, but I imagine, since those parts are added through the mod as standalone parts, that they most likely do stack with the vanilla modules. If you want a more solid answer, I provided links to Wykkyd’s Gaming channel in the Krakatoa guide, and he himself is also in my Discord, you can join if you wish and ask him questions there, or watch his videos that detail what his mods do and ask him questions in his comments. He’s got a Discord server as well, but I do not have the invite link for that.

​@@WizeOldWizard thanks for responding ... I downloaded the Xbox Creations Better Snap Points module last night which worked a treat, battering ram now in effect! I do watch all of Dark Star's vids including his weekly streams, I will play around some more with his Comm Spike and Conduction Grid modules - I was working off the assumption that you could only use one of each per ship. I do not have access to The Key anymore so I cannot buy any extra modules from Jazz as she is - well - no longer with us in my Starfield universe :) But hey no big deal I was just curious is all, the many upgrades and flexibility made possible by Dark Star Astrodymanics are well worth the download. Looking forward to your upcoming ship builds - and other vids - once you decide to go through the Unity. Thanks again :)

The only one I’m using that doesn’t seem to have an Xbox alternative is the weapon power restriction removal one. So you can do everything but increase weapons. But that also means that you can use the class C shield from DarkStar, and fully power all three weapon groups, and your engines, and your shield. That will still be a massive performance upgrade.

@justinwreden89 I know! Sucks you guys don’t have the weapon power limit mod, and I will be using Place Doors Yourself after I enter my first Unity. Didn’t want to go through and replace every door on all 10 of my ships. Watch my combat training video, in that one I modify the Omen using only the DarkStar mod, so you can apply the same parts from that one to the Krakatoa, and you’ll still have great firepower but even more defense.

I believe there is a mod that allows you to control the placement and types of hatches. But you may have to be careful using it since it defaults to "no hatch" at every point. I assume it’s available for both pc and Xbox.

Hay I noticed there is extra hook points like on the daimos hull A and the daimos skeg. On xbox that I know of we don't have a mod that adds this feature. The better ship part flipping mod adds more hook point like you see on the daimos skeg but only for the peices that in the unoriginal way. The standard daimos skeg that connects on the bottom only has a hook point on top and that's it.

Yeah, I don’t see the need for them but those are a part of the better flip and snap mod so, they’re just going to be there from now on. I want all the other snap points on the parts that didn’t have them before.

@drshoots101 oh I see what you’re saying now, my bad! That deimos spine that’s attached to the hull A is attached to the center snap point on the deimos hull, not one of those additional ones. You guys SHOULD have the snap point on the back of the Deimos Spines if you’re using better snap and flip. But also, you don’t need to place that second deimos spine to build the battering ram, that was just what I used to mount a couple of weapons in there.

You don’t need to be in NG+, but you do need the mods that I listed, and if you’re on Xbox you may have to find alternative mods that do the same thing as what I have installed.

It is! Since the Vulcan was named after the god of volcanoes, I thought it would be fitting to name an updated version after one of the most powerful volcanic eruptions in recorded history.

I don't know if you've done this yet but I have a little challenge for you. I'm wondering if you would make fighter or small destroyer only use one manufacture (structure, laning gear, habs, bays, docks, cockpits).

I wouldn’t see this as a challenge, per se, but more so just a self-imposed limitation. Sticking to a single manufacturer is extremely limiting in terms of the shapes that can be achieved, and there’s no real reason to use only one manufacturer. Even when using all the available parts, they all have specific ways of flipping and snapping and as such, I’m going to be employing the use of mods to expand the possibilities rather than limit myself even more than the vanilla game already does. I appreciate the suggestion though, and thank you for watching!

I know it’s not what you were wanting to hear, but I’m not gonna lie and say that I’ll do something that just doesn’t sound appealing to me. But I will say this; with the Better Snap and Flip mod, that opens up a lot of potential with how structural parts can be used. With that in mind, I could potentially do some (mostly) manufacturer-specific builds and not be so limited anymore. I’ll keep this idea in mind, it may come in handy when I’m struggling to come up with a new ship.

As you are now using mods, why don't you use the "Place Doors Yourself" mod? Works fantastic, and gives you a lot less annoyance and headache with the placement of doors and ladders.

Oh I will, when I start NG+. When I installed it, the mod reverted every hab on every ship to the doorless versions, and I do not want to go through every ship and replace every door. This mod will allow me the right amount of control to really build interiors exactly the way I want.

If you have mods that require SFSE, you have to start the game using SFSE. If you have a link to wherever you read that, I’d be interested to know exactly what that means.

Hmm, I know what you mean and I can try to implement that. I just find that using colors as tertiary accents works best for my designs. The Helion is nice and bright, and the Omen’s primary color is a rich crimson. Have you seen either of those yet?

I don’t own an xbox so there is no way for me to check the exact names and available mods, but I can say that there are equivalent mods thanks to my other viewers. You’ll need mods that: increase ship size limit, increase module limit, and, if you want, a mod that increases the amount of weapons you can assign to each weapon group. The only mod that I know the name of for sure is Ship Builder Tolerance Tweaks. That one allows parts to clip into each other without using glitches.

The no weapon power cost mod is not on Xbox. We don't have a mod like that yet

Dang, well, what you can do in the meantime is have all three weapon groups and engines fully stacked, with a shield that requires 12 power (recommend the DarkStar class C shield) and with the 60 power reactor, you can fully power all five of those systems. The rest that you have leftover from crew and skills can just be dedicated grav drive power. I had to use the DarkStar class B shield which only requires 9 power, so you can trade a bit of offense for a significant shield buff.

Anyone know the module increase equivalent for Xbox only one I found is “spaceship and workshop builder extendit” which just says increases building ship size but not by how much and more importantly use more parts/module…but again doesn’t say by how much

I’m pretty sure that mod includes a module limit increase. Also, if it requires any other mod it would have to be listed in the description, and I don’t remember reading that myself. Could have missed it, just make sure you read the description thoroughly.

@@WizeOldWizard oh yea i agree, i never used the StarUI ship builder, but the Ship Builder Categories does help a lot. it sorts all the parts into categories, like weapons, it has 3 tabs now instead of 1, particle, balistic, lasers.
