I have the older Big 5 non-ejector model in 375 HH. Shoots a minute to 500 yards. Truly fantastic performance. Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten...

I have two of these - one in the "big five" version and one in the "standard" version. Great rifles! One has to practice on the specific Krieghoff Combi-Cocking Device, but once it gets in your fingers you can do it without thinking. And the advantage of carrying the rifle with rounds in the chamber - safe - is a great advantage when hunting with others!

@@JackGorton1960s I have a lot more than 10k, or 40k for that matter cash in the bank. I also have a very nice break open Blaser that I like which is awfully similar apart from the ejectors. So to make this a reasonable purchase you'd have to at least have a few 100k laying around on top of your retirement fund and no, I'm not quite there yet (I'm not that old really). But I will be. Maybe I'll sell a Krieghoff family wife to fund one of these though... 😂

Very solid gun. Extremely well fit/tight.lots of sighting, wood, and engraving options. Exc standard features. I had mine trimmed to English on the forend wood. Denser stocks, sight upgrade is very good.

In their standard version I believe prices start at around at $7,000 and go up, depending on options like material, features or engraving or even calibre. In American calibres I believe they use to make one in 300 Win Mag but no longer make it, currently their line-up only has to American calibres and they would be reliable grandfather aught-six and the 308. No 30-30 though. Their Big 5 Double Rifle starts at around $15,000 and only goes up from there. Smallest calibre in the Big 5 configuration is 375 H&H I believe

I have serious issues with the cocking device not locking in place when pushed forward. It keeps slipping. I told the Kreighoff representative at the Safari Club Convention in Vegas and he looked at me like I was on drugs or something. I should have bought a double rifle with a traditional safety.

300win mag is rimless. Large rims like shotgun shells extract.

Also its not really a long range rifle. A bolt gun is more suited to that.

@@JackGorton1960s thank you for the answer but I shots with the 300 win mag at driven hunt and I have a model 70 chambered in 300 wm and I have a combination gun over and under chambered in 300wm and 12/76 The problem there’s not many double rifle chambered in 300 wm !

You can get one of these chambered in 30R Blaser - a rimmed cartridge designed for single shot rifles or double rifles. The performance of the 30R Blaser is perhaps somewhere in between 30-06 and 300 win mag.
