SMGs dominate in this game Thier low recoil and high rof means they can consistently hit targets and they'll out gun Rifles a lot of the time So maybe more damage drop-off will help balance them

Honestly making their min range worse would be better than making their max range worse,if you nerf the min range it would mean it falls off quicker but still has a good max range

The main issue seems to be that movement speed is undervalued. The movement speed alone is a massive advantage, and yet it doesnt seem to come into the rest of the weapon balance considerations. The smgs would probably be balanced if all the movement speeds were the same.

Movement is fine, the issue is damage against armor. SMG should make swiss cheese of unarmored or light armored players, but it should take longer for armored individuals. Armor needs to be revisited in Battlebit, because it can be one of the most frustrating mechanics when it works (especially helmets), and the most unreliable because at times, it feels like it does nothing. Kris can shred through Exo like nothing if you aim anywhere on the fleshy body.

imo the vector is even with the Groza, P90, and maybe the FAL after the nerf. However, I feel all SMG's continue to be a class above all others in the game, the range of them being what grinds me every time

I think the low bullet velocity is something people don't take into account often enough. engaging targets at 50-100m with an smg ...yeah if they're stationary you can beam them, but if they're moving you're adding a bunch of prediction requirement due to increased travel time. if they zig zag at all you're not hitting them reliably at all with the travel time. I only really noticed this after playing a lot with the ak5c recently, which has 700 velocity after being a p90 player for some time. the difference in how reliably I could engage targets at range even with worse recoil made me surprised.

P90 is better. FAL is hard* to use because of the recoil, and sucks at range.

For me it’s still the 60 round mag. It may be slower but this is just a wild bullet hose with 60 rounds and can fry so many enemies when you flank.

ahh yes the 60 round vector users those the ones you always pick up as a medic after they raided the position you are attacking killed everything but died themselves you get them up they reload and they go do it all over again lol

Yup! It is FANTASTIC for breaking through hardened enemy defenses in places like the map with the subway tunnels.

Its not a problem weapon any more but it still sits in the SMG catagory which is head and shoulders above all the others due to their rate of fire and seemingly lack of recoil. That said, with the damage nerfs to the weapon its probable the weapon closes to where it should be. With such severe penalties to shooting at distance while still maintaining strength in CQC it feels "right". My only issues are ever being domed by smg spray at 80m+, which are things that the MP5 and MP7 are still maintaining, which is why I feel people have migrated onto those weapons.

@@DaedalusRaistlinI definitely feel the ARs need a buff of some kind to be picked over SMGs. Idk what they’ll need but at the moment there really is no reason for me to pick the SG550 or M4 over the MP7 or the P90

​@@CrypticBlightno ARs don't really need a buff SMGs in general need a nerf. They need less range and less visual kick when they hit. They fire pistol cartridges they were made for usability and control not range and stopping power. Things like the MP5 have way too much damage range for a 9MM outclassing ARs TTKs at mid range which it shouldn't be.

@@notsoracistraspberry4168 that’s probably needed too. I’ve tried the MP5 and it feels better to beam people over super long distances than the AK15 or even SG550. I also think the flinch damage ARs to do SMGs should be increased too for some closer range fighting.

I told myself I'd suffer through every weapon and I know that some weapons are definitely better than others. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't planning on committing barbarism with this weapon lmao. Everyone that I watch who puts in work with the Vector, have a very specific CQC playstyle that fits the weapon. There will always be weapons like this, but the real question is "are the other options viable". IMO, DMRs and pistols need a little bit of love.

Fire rate has been king of the FPS genre since Quake Arena. Spitting out more bullets means you are less punished by misses and mistakes, giving you better performance.

There really needs to be a nerf to damage range on ALL smgs (and the P90), the MP5 is better than most ARs. I regularly get outgunned by SMGs despite using a DMR or an AR at medium range, in any other game I'd dominate and they'd have to push up to kill me. If a damage range nerf doesn't help then I think adding more recoil is the way to go. The SMGs have almost no recoil and thats why its so easy to just spray at 80m+.

one of the problems I see in battlebit It's just that any SMG kills you so fast that it doesn't look like you received 5 or 6 shots, it looks like 2 at the most... The frustrating thing is that I don't like playing with smgs, but I'm having to play because their dps (damage per second) is insane, in addition to not having recoil and moving at 1.10 movement speed, pluss ultra fast reload and aiming time =/ (just for comparison, with an AK-15 i move at 0.91, with the Scar-H I move at 0.77)

Post nerf, I think the vector is in a great spot. It's an absolute beast if you know how to play it and the map, but you can't just laser people at medium range all day anymore, which was the most oppressive thing about it for me. It's still excellent at what it does, but only looks busted in the hands of a skilled user.

The problem with all of the guns in the game is the scale of the world. In the context of "real world", 50m is a big nothing burger distance. But in the terms of the game, scale doesn't translate. In game, 50m seems like a pretty long way, because the player size at that distance is very small. Yes, assault rifles are designed to shoot at 200m+ engagements, but in BBR, at 200m a player is little more than a tiny cluster of pixels. This is where, and why, the SMG is the dominant category in the game. Aside from the snipers, most engagements happen inside that 50 to 100m range and the rate of fire on SMGs outstrips the extra damage of the ARs. I run the SCAR-H probably 75% of the time, and while I can get two or three shot kills, the hitbox mechanic cheesing makes it much harder to get those hits in for moving targets. The rate of fire on an SMG makes it far more likely to get hits on a jinking target, even if it is a mag dump. At virtually any distance, a hit from a .308 should be far more devastating that a hit from a 9mm or a .45, but in game that isn't modeled accurately.

I am replying to a thread already in motion here: ----- The single best reply in this thread that clearly defines what is happening as BBR evolves... "People are learning the game and are exploiting the game mechanics to cheese the win." I paraphrased just a bit, but that's the crux of the problem. When the game was new, it was fun and different, and while i had a terrible KDR (still do, in fact), I had a good time playing it and I never felt much like I was fighting a pointless battle. As people continued to play the game and get better, the mechanics of the game became more ingrained in the game sphere, and more people started learning to exploit them. Leaning, prone diving, jumping, air movement, helicopter physics, etc. All of these things have turned a fun game into a frustrating mess. Leaning: should have a reasonable delay between leaning and being able to accurately aim, to accommodate for the lean spam. Lean all you want, but if you spam it, you pretty much shouldn't be able to hit anything. Leaning should be a stationary, peek around a corner to get some cover / concealment mechanic, not a way to cheese the hitbox. Prone diving: when you hit the ground in a dive, it should be at LEAST a second before you can even ADS, let along fire. Prone diving should have a randomized delay, plus a second, to address the running into a firefight, diving to the ground and maintaining a lock on your target, again, cheesing the hitbox. Jumping: I'm sorry, but no one should be able to fire with any semblance of accuracy while jumping, certainly not a shoulder fired weapon. I've seen people jump spamming while spraying an M249 and getting 50+ yard kills. Air movement: jumping out of a building on the fourth floor and somehow landing on the second floor is just a broken physics issue. Once your feet are off the ground, you continue in the same vectors until you touch something solid. Helicopter physics: completely broken. Skilled pilots (and more power to them for learning to be good pilots), can fly a helo in an orbiting circle around a target while rolled at 60 degrees, and never miss a beat. I've seen helos fly straight downward at a target, slowing in mid air, then pulling out level before hitting the ground. I've seen them flying upside down. It's clear that the in game helo flight model is based on an RC helicopter, not the way physics works in the real world. And while we're at it, add in some kind of dedicated anti-air tool, Stingers, for example. Helos are becoming dominant on maps because they are too hard to counter if you don't have a team working to counter them. In a game that has game modes dedicated to team objectives (CTF, Conquest, Frontline, etc), there is a complete lack of focus on teamwork because the game rewards non-teamwork related activities far too high. Sniping and sitting 100m away from any objectives picking off targets gives you more points than actually capturing or defending objectives, but does nothing to help your team win. Make a TDM mode for people who just want to run around and get as high of a score as they can without playing / working as a team, and reduce the scoring for kills outside of objectives for the other objective based modes. Give those of us who want a team based cooperative experience a place to have fun and play as a squad. edit: Another thing: capture zones are WAY too big. It is far too easy for a single player to hide inside the 500m (edit, actually it's closer to 2800 m square) square radius of a capture zone and block it from becoming a spawn location, regardless of how many people there are defending it. Make it so that the more defenders or attackers there are in a location, the smaller the radius is where a player can block it from being captured, or used as a spawn location for the controlling team. Don't reduce the size of the zone, just the effective radius from the objective. If there are 12 guys standing inside the objective circle, an enemy would have to be within 10m (or some reasonable distance) of the actual center of the objective to block it. There should also be some mechanic for how long it takes to capture an objective based on how far away it is from other controlled objectives to prevent the lone solider from sneaking around to the very back of the map and back capping points in the rear. I know... your team didn't defend, so they deserve to lose the point. I don't disagree, but as I pointed out above, there is a complete lack of team play in the game, and it's all but impossible to get a team willing to actually play the objective mode. This would at least help offset that a bit. Speaking of squads, remove spawning from any teammate. Make the squad leader the only player that can have teammates spawn on, to prevent the respawn rush. Allow teammates to spawn on a transport vehicle as long as there is someone manning it, but when it is left empty, it no longer counts as a spawn point. This gets heavily exploited in CTF. Medics are definitely OP. There needs to be a limit on the number of times a player can be revived. Anyone can revive a player one time per life, but a medic can revive them twice (or one extra time if someone else already revived them), but after that, they are dead and have to respawn normally. While were talking about revives, I'm not sure if this is swinging too far but possibly consider that headshots are not reviveable and definitely not revivable after being blown up by explosives like an RPG or C4. No medic in the history of ever has re-assembled a soldier in 10 pieces and put him back on the battlefield with a bandaid. (This might be too extreme, since there are a lot of spray and pray headshot kills, and this might be too drastic of a swing in the game.) All weapons need to have accuracy bloom and damage modeling based on the kinetics of the round, not based on some random understanding of the effectiveness of the weapon. There is no way to argue that a 9mm round has more kinetic energy than a .308, or a .338, etc. I tend to run the SCAR-H, and getting shot in the face 4 times with a .308 is going to be a lot less survivable than 4 or 5 chest hits (even head hits) from a 9mm, especially at range. This is all subjective, and would have to be tuned and tweaked to get the right balance, or course. For accuracy and damage bloom, make it so that pistols start to bloom at 7m, PDWs bloom at 20m, SMGs bloom at 25 to 30m, AR's bloom at 75m, LMGs bloom at 100m, DMRs bloom around 200m, and leave snipers to bloom after 500m. I know, this doesn't simulate the real world, but this is a game and scale is compressed because you're looking at pixels on a screen, not objects in reality. Damage starts to fall off around the same ranges. Make weapon choice matter. At the current moment, there is no reason to take anything but an SMG for virtually all fights, with the exception of a few of the ARs for medium to long range encounters, or sniper rifles for long range encounters. It would be interesting to see the actual game statistics for number of kills globally by weapon, and distance. Sniper glint: simple solution to sniper glint (well, simple to describe, might not be simple to implement). Glint is only visible to a player if the sniper can see that player though the scope. If a sniper sitting (as they usually do) 600m away from objective A, is looking at objective A through his scope, a player at objective B, 500m to the west of objective A, should not be able to see glint. A player at objective A who is not visible through the scope, should not see the glint since the sniper isn't looking at them. Add glint to all optics on sniper rifles, regardless of length, once this new glint mechanic is in the game. Reduce the zeroing on the rifle based on the optic, not the rifle. A medium range optic should not be able to zero the M200 at 1000m. It should top out at like 300m, since it is a medium range optic. But by narrowing the glint field, it makes stealth and positioning matter to the sniper. I really want to keep playing the game, and I want to enjoy it, but ultimately, the ever growing occurrence of mechanics exploiting is making it really hard to do.

You talk of the TTK of other weapons being superior, I think that usual tidbit of them being theoretical is important - the sheer rate of fire compensates and makes it a more dangerous weapon than the others in many, but not all, situations. The P90 for instance is a level 125 weapon, which I'm nowhere near unlocking. This trend of putting superior weapons far up the level tree makes things feel a bit unfair as you continually get owned by superior weapons you don't have access to yet, or the attachments that make what you have unlocked really shine. But I think one of the biggest issues is just how long you'll be fighting against it with inferior weapons until you finally unlock it for yourself. This game isn't quick to level up in, especially prior to the Vector nerf patch. So you spend a long time having no real way to counter it unless the other dude runs out of ammo.

Yep, bullet hose weapons are a crutch weapon cause out of the 60 bullets spewed out in a couple seconds only 5 need to hit. No other weapon archetype can negate such a lack of mechanical skill

Weapon balance is all over the place in this game. SMGs are TOO strong even at range. Higher lv unlocks are really pointless (i'm looking at you AS VAL). I would really like to see some balancing on the SMGs and some love to higher level weapons.

Yeah, looking at DMRs those are basically useless you can kill faster with ARs in semi auto after accounting for the overwhelming vertical kick and how slow it is to fire each shot

Really enjoyed the no sleep Twitch Rival's stream - felt special and was awesome to see you do so well even with a 180-190 ping. Things to make Battlebit Remastered even better: 1. Regional filter for server searching 2. Less foliage, wall barriers, and simplified buildings 3. Objective points (specifically on Rush) 100 yards away from zone walls/out of bounds 4. Spawning on squad mates made more simple and easier 5. The re-worked maps being balanced, some objective point locations heavily favor the attacking team 6. Competitive game mode / rank system / adjusted player size / adjusted map 7. Bandaging takes too long (think stim healing in CoD) - Battlefield 2 had an amazing healing system - medics would get rapidly regenerating medic packs that they drop on ground - players that need heals run over them and get instantly healed. 8. "F" used to access ammo crates while also bandaging. Okay with two use key bind, but the bandage animation for it to go away takes too long, if you use it to revive someone and an enemy comes up on you, you have no chance of winning the fight - punishment for trying to res. Also on ammo boxes once you fill all ammo slots it should Auto-Close.

After the vector nerf, I feel like the P90, MP5, MP7, FAL, and possibly the groza are the new problem children. The P90, MP5, and MP7 kill ridiculously fast for way too far with very little recoil, while the FAL can 3 shot kill regular armor (with heavy barrel) at 650rpm. The groza is just too consistent against armors.

Some of the gun balance baffles me today. Why use the AR like the SG550, ACR, Famas, etc when the P90 and MP5 do way more damage at a higher rpm and very little recoil. Like how the heck does an smg do more damage than an AR. Fal is the most brain dead gun of them all as it shreds in close quarters, faster than the already powerful AK15 and SCAR. The rpm should be dropped by 600. Like why the hell does this gun have a faster rpm than the AK5C which is technically a worse Groza. It's rpm is so generous that you can retardedly kill someone from a far ass distance with its generous 3 shot guaranteed to kill luck. Through it does have a shorter magazine and you burn through ammo quickly as that was majority of my deaths, but no doubt this is the most unbalance weapon up close with pre patch Kriss Vector.

L opinion. the mp7 and mp5 only need slightly reduced range. the p90 and fal need a smallish nerf (knowing the devs, they will be slammed into the ground). The groza is fine how it is.

i think this game would benefit with round types for all guns, this would allow for the user to swap between high velocity for range and damage at longer ranges while having heavier rounds that deal more damage close, this could open the possibility to shotguns with buckshot and slugs that works the same

Don't really use the Vector much. It is a good gun, but it is no longer the king of all. Personally, I am using the FAL for everything now. Good close range and can reach out and touch people. Recoil is hot garbage, but that is also part of the fun.

I've been leaning into the Scorpion EVO. Sadly you can't use it on the assault class. Wish it had more attachments. FAL is also pretty fun. Vector still slaps but I put 600 kills on it and just don't want to use it anymore.

Vector for newbie like me is a holy grail of hyper active flanking medic playstyle and it took fair bit of time to learn the curve of it against enemies sometimes they just wouldn't die since they're wearing exos or medium armor and the kill time is so drastically different and i sometimes stop shooting cause i thought the last bullet would kill them but it didn't

i have the vector and i was super exited to unlock it but i like high damage, medium range, weapons and the vector being one of the lowest damage weapons and being quite bad at medium range i quickly fell in love with the AUG A3. Im excited for your AUG A3 review.

I still use the Vector, not because I feel it's a crutch for performance or success, or even to stay even, but because it feels fun and responsive to use. Overall I think it's in a great spot because while it's still on the strong end, it's not as oppressive but nerfed enough to still have its virtues and feel fun. Some call for a harsher range damage nerf, but BattleBit is a game where you will find yourself at least once every 3 lives or so (except in smaller maps/gamemodes) in a shootout in the 50-100 meter range and I don't think anyone should just not have the damage to keep up. I'd rather a bullet velocity nerf, since a 300 m/s bullet is irrelevant at close range but requires more discipline to control and lead targets outside of your comfortable distances. It would make the fights more fair and the gun more interesting. It would take more muscle memory to relearn, but it plays a lot to the idea that the Vector is a bullet hose completely in the player's control and it's on them to make the most of those shots.

100% on the flanking. If you're getting killed by a Kriss Vector, it's usually from the rear.

I'm a bad/mediocre player, by the time I got to level 70 I had a neutral K/D most games. 15 kills and 15 deaths in a 32 player domination, that's a normal game for me, some better some worse. Mostly this is because I'm new to FPS games with a mouse and keyboard, grew up playing only with a controller. Anyway, I unlocked the Vector yesterday (so post-nerf) and after a couple games to get used to it and get some attachments I suddenly started going 30-10 multiple games in a row. It's still pretty damn good, even post-nerf.

Before the nerfs, it's the skilless crutch weapon, because even a mediocre player like me saw a MASSIVE performance boost just using the stupid thing. I was winning fights I really shouldn't have. Including fights where I was hit first. In my experience, it really just outclassed all ARs back then because of its high rate of fire and extremely easy to control recoil. Combine that with the high capacity mag attachment... and yeah. no. It absolutely deserved nerfs.

only problem with the vector is that most people dont have skill to use it the weapon has an extreamly high skill ceiling most who pick it up cant recreate what they see and that makes them assume that its OP cos the assumedly joe average in their game is absolutely gaming on them with it

Doesn't help that the bullet drop is still a bit too good. And the MP5 doesn't have a short reload animation.

Smg really need a large nerf on range (aka damage drop off), battlebit follows battlefield 5's medic dominate the game with the fast rpm, fast ttk and unlimited bandages. They need to make smg damage starting to slightly drop of after 50 meters and heavly pass 100 meters.

What i felt like is Its either smg or sniper. AR gets dominated. ARs just feels sluggish. slow and heavy. ARs are my fav category of weapons but I cant enjoy that in this game. Honey badger feels like a good middle ground tho.

Kris, Groza, p90, MP5, literally all of the SMGs and most of the carbines/PDWs that should be SMGs but got rando classed into another category. They can reach out and touch you at the same range as most ARs and have less recoil going for it. It's comical

only got it after the nerf, still pretty strong in 1vs1 situations, and i'm not even a good player. also i can't wait for the MG3 KWS, with 7.62x51 @800-1200rpm disshing out dmg like the SCAR

the thing i HATE about vector users is that they jump and change direction mid air. you can see them basically jumping all across the map and know which gun they're using.

I think the main reason everyone thinks the vector is OP is because pretty much all the good players use it, so it being an already good weapon + high skill players using it make it seem like its a lot better than it really is. Don't get me wrong, its still really good even after the nerf

the ak15 is one of few guns that when modded correctly can 1 hit 1 headshot kill almost anyone. Guns like this are banned in pro matches (other games but with the same mechanic) because 2 bullets is literally too fast for any human to react to. the ak15 is like that in this game, but obv not as bad because of recoil and lower fire rate.

Tough the drum mag isn't the greatest pick of magazine on vector but it is fun if you wanna just meme-ing around with vector, sure ur reload gonna ve like a turtle but eh... When the fun is achieved i dont care about that

i unlocked the p90 today and have been spamming it. I remember being destroyed by the vector and unlocked it after the nerf. I will make others feel pain until the devs ruin the gun permanently

I don't think most people who know about the nerfs (always there's a large group that don't pay attention to patch notes) consider it the "crutch" weapon it was before the nerf. So noting that people call it a crutch is a little outdated at this point.

When someone breaks down the TTK on weapons like the Vector like this, I honestly chuckle at the fact this 3 man team is SO against shotguns. Some of the SMGS play exactly like them. It goes to show how little they know about the genre, and making a game all together, alongside the fact that they aren't very keen to expand on the rather barebones gameplay they have. 90% of the maps suck. These guys don't know how to make a map that flows well at all. I might be spoiled by the absolutely amazing maps of BF3-4 that flowed so well. Regardless, these devs made something 'ok'. It's not a 10/10 game. It's an easy 7/10, inflated by the fact that A LOT of gamers will just play whatever seems popular at the time. It was battlebit in june, Baldurs gate is getting it's time now, and it was fortnite five or so years ago. Battlebit had 80k at it's peak. That's already down to barely 20k players. Now that's still a lot but nothing compared to some AAA releases. I had fun, but if they keep this elitest attitude towards what they like and dislike, rather than growing as developers. Because let's be real, this three guys made a pretty cool game, but let's not break our arms jerking them off, as if they're some god-tier developers who've we've known to put out bangers for the last two decades, this isn't going to have much longer of a shelf life. Might be a hot take that people surely won't agree with.
