Feel like krux don't care too much and try to make more fun looking trucks. They have many graphic trucks. I think their slogan actually is "they turn and stuff"

They are horrible for transition and just when getting more speed in general. Krux are for people who like to take unnecessary falls, the best “all around truck” from what I’ve tried so far have been indys.

Krux in my opinion are not good because the bushing will lock a certain way when you try and turn or it could be the pivot cup. my friend said he negated that issue by installing new bushings and new pivot cups. I rather put the extra money I’m putting into krux into a better truck like Indy’s

ive had the same problem when i tried skating krux after having indies. i didn’t really notice the difference until i switched back to indies and put the krux on my cruiser, but i definitely feel like indies turn wayyy better. i do love the krux bushings though, so i skate my indies with krux bushings and it works perfect for me. great review too btw!

One thing I've found odd about Krux is the Pivot cavity, it's really deep and the pivot cups are very long in order to fill that cavity, compared to any other truck out there. Also, when you say lean vs. turn, you're right, just look at the pivot cup after you ride them for a bit, it blows out to look like this , very specific compared to most other trucks rounded out/blown out cups.

Yea I love the way krux turn. It's really just a preference thing. Yesterday I jumped on a friend's board that had indys and they were soo turny was like "nope, unskateable". Also wheelbase is a major player in how much a board turns. Longer wheelbase, longer turn radius, and vise versa.

I''ve been trying out different trucks lately and i realized that i like my krux the best in terms of pop because it seems to feel like the exact wheelbase of the deck. like when you choose a deck you're looking for what wheelbase balances out the trucks you have, the fact that krux is kinda in the middle, your standard 14.25 wheelbase will feel like a 14.25 •

Another fantastic review! Ben's one of the only reviewers(if not, THE only) that doesn't leave me still wondering 3/4's of what I was wondering before watching the review. Both pairs of Krux that I tried didn't turn well at all. Even after swapping out the factory bushings for some Bones mediums they didn't turn well. Like Ben said though, "Krux trucks, They're skateable!"

@kanescrimes4848
@kanescrimes4848 6 жыл бұрын
Really? Not me, I hate Indy bushings in comparison to the old shorties Doh-Doh's and more recently the Bones. (MEDIUMS ONLY) I tried pretty much every bushing in the Krux and nothing turned to my approval. Or turned at all. I ride super loose trucks too!(I EVEN TRIED KRYPTONICS, LOL) I only use one washer on my back truck under the bottom bushing on all my set-ups(started doing that 18 years ago) For 12 years all I would ride were Indy's, but even then I would swap out the factory Indy bushings for the Shorty's doh-doh's because I found the Indy bushings would wear one one side more than normal AND took too long to wear in(probably because I was a small/light kid) To this day I know people who will ride nothing else but Indy's and LOVE the Indy bushings, but I ride Ace's with Bones mediums. ACE's: In the 29 years I've been skating for, I've NEVER rode such a responsive and great feeling truck(in every way) Ace's with the Bones bushings carve like nothing else(except maybe some of those tech heavy long-board trucks) If I couldn't get Aces I'd definitely grab some Indy-144 lights and Bones bushings(mediums only),because the Ace is really just an Independent stage 3 with a wider cambered hanger, so an Indy with bones bushings would turn ALMOST as well. I will say that any truck with a camber hanger is going to lock into grinds best, and the mild camber on the krux K4 might be a better idea than the intense camber on the Ace's when it comes to ledges, but since I'm getting really really old(and fat) I'm skating transition more, and the intense camber is PERFECT for coping and pool-block. To each their own though right. From the rattle in my chest, to the escape in my breath, I'll be rollin', skate till death.
@faunaflage
@faunaflage 6 жыл бұрын
I've never had any issues with any of the Krux I've had. I swap out the standard bushings with Bones mediums (I ride loose), and I find them as responsive and carvy as Indy's, with less weight and a much lower price. The key is the bushings swap. A good review, Ben. Very thorough.

Ive always skated krux(over 10 years) and can attest to the less than stellar turning. I always put alittle bit of wax in the pivot cup and it seems to help. Ive also tried a butt ton of aftermarket bushings like lucky kegs, shortys and bones bushings but they dont seem to fit too well on krux and cause the trucks to stick and pull.

I love your idea here with the chalk, very creative, but right away it's clear that Krux turn fine. It seems a lot of people don't like the way they FEEL when they turn, which has devolved into "they don't turn", a negative mythology...and then you start getting the placebo effect. A lottttt of placebo effect and very little science to a lot of the prevailing views about good/bad equipment in skateboarding. But that's fine! The thing about the placebo effect is that it is still an effect! If riding a $60 pair of Independents makes you feel more confident on your board bc you believe you are now riding superior equipment... whatever works!

I've been skating 2 sets of krux for the last year, and I have to say I quite like them. I started with the 8.0 and eventually moved to the 8.25. My number 1 complaint were the stock pivot cups, which are terrible. (I'm actually a big fan of the bushings). Not sure if I noticed the loss of speed that you mentioned, but I'll have to slap on some old indy's to see for myself. Great in depth review

I rode a pair of Krux for over a year and was completely satisfied with them. But, I decided to try Indy's. I've always been a cheapskates, and Indy's are comparatively expensive. Today I skated my 144's for the first time, and you're right. Krux don't turn by comparison. I didn't know any different, but it's crazy how much quicker and sharper the Indy's turn. I'm sort of going to have to relearn how to skate a little bit with Indy's, but I'm sure I'll get used to them soon enough. Great review. You nailed it. And again, nothing wrong with Krux; they're a totally adequate truck. But they don't turn like Indy's.

Thanks Ben! I was going to get Indy Ti 149s based on your review of those trucks but I watched this review of the Krux 8.5s and figured for half the price why not take a chance and go with the Krux DLK hollows standard height. Same size as Indy 149s and only 8 grams heavier per truck than the Indy Ti 149s. I’ll admit that I was a bit skeptical after riding Indys for so long but my skepticism went away the minute I stepped on my deck. I’m stoked on every aspect of the Krux DLK Hollows. Thanks again for your review. I definitely would not have considered Krux otherwise and I’m totally enjoying them as a result.

my first trucks were the 7.5 / 5 venture lows and i remember skating good in them. the bad thing was not turning so well. so i decided to get some soft bushings and it helped. but then years later i got a new pair of thunder 147s and they were so much better out of the box. after so long i changed my bushings to medium bones bushings. i have noticed the rubber splitting on the bushings because they are obviously too tight so now i have to order hard bushings. this is all for my 8" setup. but im now thinking of getting a 8.25 setup as it gives me confidence skating down drops, stairs, gaps. im a UK 6.5 shoe, so 7.5 US, i weigh only like 120 pounds. why would my 8" setup feel kinda heavy? i got primitive 8" Desarmo deck, thunder 147 hollow lights kyle walkers. bronson G3 bearings and bones STF wheels. im thinking of getting a powell flight deck next maybe that will make it lighter for me? i also had krux years ago when lui barletta and jerry hsu skated them.

i see the problem, try adding a taller bushing on the bottom, will make it turn sharper or stack a few washers before putting bottom bushing on to make it taller this will let you tighten but still have more turn, and board should tip over before the wheels touch the deck. also remember cupped washers on bottom and top (under nut) these will control the bushings stopping wheelbite.

Anyone know what aftermarket pivot cups fit in a set of Krux? I have a set with a cast baseplate and the pivot cup cavity is super deep. Deeper than the Theeve pivot cups I had spare. The pivot cups on Krux start to deform the way people claim, just like . Turn was perfect for me (after I boiled the Krux Clouds for half an hour), but can confirm. They’re amazing in Indy’s and Theeves too.

indys were the only truck i tried i hated. they were heavy, went super crooked almost instantly, didn't tighten enough for 57mm wheels, turned sluggishly, cost a lot of money, and were literally incapable of grinding anything that wasn't at a skate park. i'll stick to tensors in the street and thunder for vert from now on. you seen how the indy pros grind concretre? they sand it down with a rub brick, paint the curb, and wax the shit out of it. my tensor mags could grind shit in the street with pebbles sticking out and with no wax.

The dlks are nice tho they are weird to set up and adjust but once everything is set the dlk on Krux are really nice just because they are smooth, like you still hit a little bit I have marks and what not on the kingpin but I have never noticed it and I know for a fact they grind deeper and better than thunders I like krux I think they grind great and I live in Wisconsin where everything is crusty

so i think krux bushings are good because they are stable and they come "broken in" and they hold up well in terms of not squeaking when exposed to cold weather. i think they are a good medium bushing but what i do is, i keep the first bushing to go on, and then i put a bones bushing second. the two "best" bushings together. and they're both white so it matches

Great Review. I thought the ticktack in the bowl was more due to my skill level.

You make a good point about skill level. You need to go pretty fast and high up the transition to not be doing kickturns and there is always a place for kickturns but I found the krux to be a bit unresponsive in the bowl.

I always liked krux because the bushings they come with dont have to be broken in.

Put the new version of ACE (regular) bushings in these trucks and they are perfection. MUCH better turn and feel, but you retain some of the benefits like less wheel-bite and lack of twitchy-ness a lot of 'turny' trucks have, plus you get a great height and wheel base. Krux has done a good job convincing people their bushings are good, but they are not. KRUX if you are listening... try this and see, it's a game changer.

Krux are like tensors they are great for tech and manuals and they're aso strong so good for gaps/stairs. That's been my experience.

It's the bushings I got a pair of industrial trucks I tried to skate them with the stock bushings they were just too stiff so I had to change the bushings to something a little softer if you got an old pair of trucks that you don't mind taking apart you should take the bushings off of those and put them on your krux

I have always really liked Krux. Maybe it’s because they’re so light. I started riding them when I was younger and wasn’t even 100lbs. So maybe that plays a huge factor since it’s been what, 17 years riding the same brand?

Hey Ben maybe in the future you could do a review on CCS trucks. I just got some CCS trucks they are 19.99 or 20 something dollars I believe really cheap but anyways you can get them from the CCS website and I would like you to do a review on them someday. They are decent trucks except I feel they are the heaviest trucks I've ridden they feel heavier than Indies to me kind of pisses me off but I think for the price they are decent trucks

If you put a riser on or smaller wheels the Indys probably would have went even tighter.

The krux trucks bushings are rock hard. I skated them for months made no difference. I like the trucks so I'm swapping out for Bones medium bushings soon.

I've had 3 pairs of krux trucks. To me they grinded really well but all 3 pairs of trucks after a couple months of use the pivot rod broke on all 3 pairs. I haven't had that happen with any other truck company.
