There has been a lot of speculation floating around out there and what really happened to the Kirkland Signature 10 Hearing Aid, the KS 10. It was costco's #1 Best Selling hearing aid and it just disappeared. Here is the truth and why it's no longer in the costco hearing aid center line up. I've had the KS-10s for about 2 years now. I had some of the documented, annoying charging problems (or lack thereof) with them as many folks did, but I could always get them back up by a hard re-boot. However I found out there was a software update to fix the issues. I took them to the Costco hearing center when I was in there (had no appointment) They gladly installed the software update in a few minutes while I shopped. That was about 3 months ago and they have been flawless ever since. If yours are giving you charging problems and you have not had them updated then do it, you'll be glad you did.

My K-10's are still perfect but I do wish they were smaller. I used to wear a Phonak battery model and it was so much smaller. Way to sir,I really enjoy your show.

I have the Phonak Marvel from the VA they are great. Purchased KS10’s not a lot better & work great also. I have 2 friends (husband & wife) wearing KS10’s. I have never had a problem with them. Love your channel.

Thank you for such a great informative presentation. It confirms everything that I thought about my KS10s. Luckily I have had no issues with charging and the only issues have been rechargeable batteries not lasting for the hours I'm awake (a quick recharge is possible) and the auto default to the standard program with any notifications to my phone. But hey, who can complain at having such a high level of technology in my ears for such an incredible bargain price. A friend of mine paid full retail price of around $8000 AUD for a pair with equivalent features and tech. At the time the KS10s cost $1800 AUD plus ear moulds. (my hearing loss is significant) And they were expertly and professionally fitted. I just hope Costco decides to sell a similar high quality tech grade of hearing aid when mine need to be replaced. Costco provide much needed quality products at very affordable prices that makes a huge difference to the quality of many people's life experiences.

Thanks for a great video. Husband and I both have KS-10s and basically are happy. I think mine are turned up too much, since I'm not happy with the sound quality and I think his are turned down too far, since he doesn't hear well. I attribute both issues to the technician who insists they are correct.

have you guys tried adjusting the volume. If yours are too loud or turned up too much, turn them down. if you think his are turned down too much, turn up the volume. If they have the volume control disabled for some reason, ask them to enable it.

Bought Jabra Enhance Pro 20 on your recommendation. I chose the battery to avoid any charging problems. As a standard hearing aid they're pretty good. The Bluetooth option is worthless on Android.

It depends on the phone. My Samsung galaxy s23 has no issues but yes, generally speaking, android is NOT as good as iphones for hearing aids.

My wife has a set of KS9s that seem to work well, but the issue is with the Easy Line application. She can select a different program from Automatic Premium in the app (Restaurant, TV, Music) but the minute she goes to another application, the hearing aids switch back to Automatic Premium. We spent some time with our local Costco hearing specialist, and the response was -"Yeah, the app doesn't work very well". Her previous hearing aids (non bluetooth) allowed her to change programs on the hearing aid itself, but we were told that it not possible with the KS9s. Before we buy a new set of hearing aids, I would like to know if that is true. The ENT said her KS9s should be sufficient for her hearing loss.

Yes, you can change programs using the physical buttons with the ks9. You can choose not to connect the ks9 to your phone and do away with the app. Unfortunately, the costco Practitioner is correct. The app doesn't work very well. It has nice options but there's some issues with it.

It's unfortunate what happened with the KS10s, however Costco still have three good options. I recently bought the Philips 9030s from them and they work fine.

I got my KS10's in Sept 2022, and have only had a charging problem twice since then. I just take the HA's and plug it into my vehicle USB port to charge them on the way to work. No other problems since then.

I have 10s.... I have had no problem with charging, but I always hold the button down until they turn red before placing them in the dryer each night. That is what I was told to do from my costco technician. Then they go straight from the dryer into the charger sometimes at night, but usually the next morning. ( I usually fall asleep while they're in the dryer.) LOL I'm just wondering if that is considered resetting the hearing aid? Maybe that's why I don't have so much trouble? The only trouble that I seem to have is people saying they can't understand me as well. I often have the technician vacume my microohone and it seems to help until the next time, but maybe it's something else? Still, all in all... Very satisfied!

It’s not resetting the hearing aid, it’s powering them off and you don’t need to but it’s not going to hurt anything

Costco just refurbished(replaced) both my ks10s with only 2 months warranty left. Work better than the Jabra pro20s I bought while they were down for 2 weeks.

Are they still honoring the 3 year warranty? If they cut ties, how will these 9's and '10's get repaired? I bought my 10's like a week before they pulled them from the market. I have had some issues with charging, and annoying volume changes. Batteries usually last all day. can these charging issues, and volume issues be repaired? Reply

Absolutely. Yes costco still honors the 3 year warranty and we send these ks9 and ks10 hearing aids out for repair STILL, everyday. Just bring them in.

I have KS9s.. honestly I am hesitant to go rechargeable because I’m afraid they might die when I need them the most

you aren't the only one. We have several patients that refuse to go rechargeable for this very reason. With batteries, you have 100% up time. And you can get the non-rechargeable version of the Philips or Jabras.

My KS 10 has been plagued with charging issues and was exposed to water and the performance has been affected. Does Costco still do a refurbishment of the KS 10 or does Costco give credit towards a new model. The unit is still in warranty. What should I request?

Yikes and best bet is from Costco since they’re free otherwise send back to Phonak manufacture but you will be paying for the receiver. You could get one on Amazon but you’re looking over $60 for the one receiver.

I have a pair of Phonak hearing aids that I purchased before I reached medicare age. They use a replaceable battery that I purchase online for half the price the stores charge. A single battery lasts about a week. When a hearing aid's battery is dead, a replaceable battery lets the user immediately change battery rather than needing to wait while the rechargeable recharges. Not only that, but rechargeable batteries eventually fail. I wonder why Phonak went with a rechargeable. It's time for me to replace my Phonak aids. They cost $5,000 for them from the doctor's office. Fortunately health insurance covered 80%, thus I only paid $1,000 for the pair. Now, at my present age, Medicare won'l pay any of it, thus Costco looked like the best bet until now.

My understanding is that the equivalent Phonak hearing aids did not have the same issues with charging that the Kirklands had, which begs the question of whether or not Costco is selling a different (ie, cheaper made) version of their "premium" hearing aids.

I heard cliff say that in his latest video and I almost fell over laughing. It’s complete bs. The charging issue was a software issue that has been fixed and there’s an update for the hearing aids that fixes the issue. So no, Costco doesn’t sell cheap knock off versions of the hearing aids.

I had the software update installed about 3 months ago when I was in Costco, (I also had the charging problems) I had no appointment and it was done when I was done shopping. They have been flawless since.

I had the 9s, and when I noticed the price drop with the 10s, Costco let me trade. The last few weeks I have noticed the charging issue...both show Green early in the morning, but an hour or so later, one is Red! Also....the Volume is Erratic! Just sitting in my truck at a light, the radio and sound of AC get Louder, then go back down and the radio sounds a bit Tinny! Not happy with these now!

Ya we have had a lot of reports of the fluctuating volume and gain settings. Did the fluctuations just start or has this issue been happening since day 1?

Also, try disconnecting them from the phone and see of it still happens. They may need to be sent in.

I live an hour from Costco and do not relish the drive for servicing or adjusting. Does it still make sense to buy? Do they service/adjust remotely?

I've never returned my K10's work so well. The original programming is intact. The drive is well worth it. The warranty is incredible.

How do you select which hearing aid is best for a patient?

Well, that's a great question. Since we have 3 different brands, 3 different choices, I think about my favorite 2 brands, that's jabra and philips. Then i find out if the patient likes all the bells and whistles or wants something more simple. If they want bells and whistles, Jabra. More simple, philips.

My KS10s are great, no charging issues. I also learned that the bluetooth connectivity is "Classic", which connects to about everything. Do the other aids have bluetooth as good? I am listening to this podcast over my KS10s. Can I get a better dome for my 10s at Costco?

The other hearing aids Costco has are all made for iPhone hearing aids and use a different version of Bluetooth. You can ask your fitter for a different size dome. They will let you know what you can use based on your hearing loss.

Nope. I don't think costco would like that review. If I ever go full time with youtube, I'll be able to have the freedom to do what I want. But working for costco, they watch every video and I have to be very careful.
