Don't take it out on everybody because some of us don't misuse it. If someone does that has nothing to do with me.

Ok, here's the problem: asking a recovery center about addicts is fine, but there is a difference between opioid addicts and opioid dependency. Ask chronic pain sufferers if they would give up meds if there was a cure for their condition, you'll hear a choirs of people say "absolutely!. People who are suffering do not get a euphoric feeling from the meds, but a measure of relief. No one that has intractable pain takes a pill and is "pain free." That said, take away their meds and they are now in excruciating pain, have elevated blood pressure and will most likely have a heart attack or stroke. Doctors abandoning their patients happen everyday now, and do not find another provider to continue their care. Doctors are scared and have been arrested and incarcerated due to an overzealous DEA. Pray you don't have to have surgery, because you will be given Tylenol and Motrin, even in cases of open heart surgery, amputations, c-sections etc. This is our reality, and it's only getting worse. No one in the pain community is treated as a patient anymore, but rather a criminal/drug seeker where we have urine tests, pill counts (and that's if you are prescribed meds and/or if the Pharmacists decide to give them to you. They can now override your Doctors prescriptions. Americans are being tortured and nothing is being done about it. When the CDC guidelines came out, and the DEA started arresting Doctors, America set the tone for the rest of the globe. This Government created a vaccuum and that's where the fentanyl crisis was born. They wouldn't treat a dog or cat as badly as they do humans these days. So, if you, the reader is scheduled for surgery, please, please ask how they plan to control your pain post surgery. Get it in writing and hooe they keep their promise. Maybe reporters can cover what the real story is today?

@@Steve-ev6vx This is neither funny, nor correct. Why do you judge and mock disabled people? Does that sound reasonable to you? Do you know if the person you left this comment for is in cancer treatment, or has had an amputation, or 3rd degree burns over 40% of their body? No, you don't. Just because you struggle with drug use doesn't mean everyone does. There are tens of millions of pain disabled patients across North America who suffer with complex, degenerative, and terminal illnesses who thrive on safe and effective pain management, who remain on a stable dose for years, even decades. Opioids allow functionality and a quality of life. Are you advocating that legitimate disabled patients should be medically abandoned, driven to the deadly illicit market in desperation, or forced to turn to suicide? Is this who you are?

@@Steve-ev6vx Excuse me? Are you accusing me of "looking down" on people who struggle with SUD? That seems to be more your attitude. It certainly isn't mine.

@@Steve-ev6vx I advocate for ethical care for ALL people, whatever the medical condition. That includes you and the ones you love. Nobody deserves to be judged, shamed, mocked, misdiagnosed, stigmatized, discriminated against, or medically abused and abandoned. Unfortunately, we have a failing health care system, and millions can't access compassionate care. Disabled pain patients are sufferimg and dying, as are people who use illicit substances.

Yes they are. And it's not just chronic pain. They're using essential oils after 2 hr c-section and ibuprofen script for an amputation. They're sick in the head. These people need to experience pain themselves. We are not addicts - we are pain patients. Those two are worlds apart.

They need to deal with people who abuse illegal drugs and leave the pain meds alone. I NEED my pain meds but don't get them because there are no doctors where I live, just nurses and they act like they don't know what they are doing.

Why have strict guidelines for people who are monitored pain management. Her ion and synthetic fentanyl is not prescription medicine. All of the proposed solution are currently in place but real patients are still suffering.

We have the same issue in the mental health world. Drs are refusing to prescribe any benzos for panic attacks. I completely understand being against daily benzo usage as that is dangerous and not as effective as therapy in my opinion but 15 per month Klonopin for oanic is now viewed as drug seeking aswell. Very difficult whats happened to controlled substances. Overprescribed to begin with and then almost completely taken away from everyone leaving the genuine patients suffering...

The epidemic is about money. In 2020 there was 90k death from ods and 87 percent of those drugs were street drug not prescriotion meds. Lawyers made billions sueing big pharma. Did you think they are going to sue a drug dealer on the street - no way as no money in it. I am sorry for anyone who lost a loved to an overdose. But when in 2020 many patients were cut by their drs opiods for pain and suicide went up 472 percent. If the need for pain is real it is NOT addiction.

Addicts and chronic pain sufferers are DIFFERENT. If you can’t handle taking opioids because you’re an addict, do not take them. There is a responsibility for yourself. You must take unless you can’t think and if you can’t think then someone needs to go out your medicine for you. stop punishing people and chronic pain people with severe anxiety. Stop punishing us because some people can’t control themselves.

The CDC Opioid Prescribing Guidelines were adopted as law in over 38 States. DEA is persecuting, prosecuting, and imprisoning physicians who prescribe opioids for pain. This is what our doctors know - they're terrorized by our governments.
