In this episode I mess around with The Near Future Launch Vehicles mod which adds into the game a number of large rocket parts to buil 5 and 7.5m rockets.

This mod got engine nozzles right. The larger the nozzle the better in vacuum and the smaller (up to a point) the better in atmosphere.

Owen Freeman I don’t believe there are any sea level bells in the game. If there is, give me an example.

@@floo1465 There's no point in having sea level engine bells if vacuum practically starts at 10 kilometers. Besides that, look at the Russian RD-180. It's a sustainer with a big bell that starts at 315 SL Isp (and could theoretically get 339 vacuum Isp.) It's just a KSP thing that even sea level engines are somewhat inefficient at sea level (as there are probably no closed cycle engines.)

8:10 basically an extremely efficient fuel cell merged with an RCS block.

Those engines are vacuum-optimized. You would know that if you had payed attention to the ISP. Please do that, ISP is the relevant information, not fuel consumption.

Yeah, ISP matters a lot more than fuel consumption per second.

@@brumby92 Is that important tho? Do you even play KSP? ISP is more important than fuel consumption, as it shows the efficiency. If all you cared about was fuel consumption, you could just slap on more engines.

It's super straight-forward from the CurseForge site. simply download, then drag and drop from downloads folder to KSP>Game Data. so the mods Game data folder gets merged into the game's gamedata folder. that's pretty much it.(if it doesn't work in the KSP gamedata folder because the mods are .zip files, unzip them and they should work.)

When playing with parts like these, that's when you really start getting the itch for up-scaled Kerbin mods. All of that delta-V is just begging for a giant solar system in which to be used.

@@theman-wq5on yeah that has become the only option, but that turns the whole Kerbol system into our Solar System. I like the idea of playing in Kerbol, just making that bigger. I get it comes with its own problems. Like making all the mountains and valleys super flat because of the way the terrain doesn't scale with planet volume.

I use this with Tweakscale for my heavy launch vehicles, like the Sarnus V and Sarnus K-8. They’re five meter (on both stages), two stages, and have no adapters, which looks really cool. It also has Interstellar Extended installed, but no parts that use it, it just takes advantage of the joint reinforcement. If you want a tutorial, here it is, from the first stage up; Sarnus V: 1. Get a 5m engine cluster, it doesn’t matter if it’s stock or Near Future Launch Vehicles. 2. Put 5 M4 Buzzard engines on the cluster 3. Use tweakscale to get reaction wheels to 5m size, put it on top of the cluster. 4. Put a large 5m fuel tank, 5m reaction wheels, and another large 5m fuel tank. 5. Put a decoupler, then a Mainsail using tweakscale to get to 5m, and a 5m reaction wheel. 6. Put one medium 5m fuel tank. 7. Two 32k batteries, which I believe are added in in Near Future Electric. 8. Put a 5m fairing in 9. Use a decoupler that fits with the bottom of your payload, so that the fairing actually works. That’s the Sarnus V, now moving on to the Sarnus K-8. Sarnus K-8: Everything is the same, except there’s 8x symmetry Pollux SRBs on the first stage, and there’s a small 5m fuel tank on the second stage. Have fun with these beasts of a rocket.

I want to, and even have a moded series planned out. but sadly I just don't have the time for it right now. it's one of the problem of trying to do youtube as well as having a full time job ... and trying to maintain some form of social life

*me when I saw the sizes of the tanks* OK folks here we have the normal size for your standard 360 no scopes. Now here we have the double size for the dank memers out there with ur 720 blazit. Here we have the OOH BABY A TRIPLE size for the most obsurd OOH BABY A TRIPLE uses out there. Only for pros with the blueroyal AWPs and their 1120 blazits. These golden eagle double-Gs only use Juan Deags and AWPs for the most MLG Meme trickshots. their power comes from various sources of meme essence including Pepe, doge, 720 and 420 blazit, Shrek, Sparta, etc etc.

Since I started using the Procedural Parts mod, I really think that more fuel tanks are kind of useless, but give me all the engines ;)

for me it's the opposite, I'm not a fan of procedural parts as I like the aesthetic of custom built parts. I not only want my ship to fly but also to look freakin awesome lol. but hey to each there own.

As someone who runs KSP on an older machine, fuel tanks are the first things I ditch from other mods when using procedural parts. It gives a slight performance boost!

But procedural tanks have limited textures, models and atatchmenta
