Thank you so much for watching this video! Please like and subscribe!
This game is Kerbal Space Program and I used a lot of mods when recording this video, including Principia. Principia is a mod that simulates gravity more realistically than the stock physics and that's why I could create this near rectilinear halo orbit that the Lunar Gateway will have.
In this video I begin construction of the Lunar Gateway and send the first humans to it. Please stay tuned for part 2 when I land on the Moon! This video is inspired by the Artemis and Gateway programs.
The main mods used are Principia, Real Solar System and Space Launch System and Starship parts pack. For the graphics I have the basic RSSVE and Scatterer but what makes it look so good is the post processing mod TUFX with Fox's realistic profiles.

This is fantastic work. The only downside is that you inspired me to go read about techniques for NRHO rendezvous, and just skimming the papers has given me a permanent migraine, along with roughly 784 questions about your mission as shown here. If you have a moment and are willing, I would be super interested in even a few words about your Ap and your relative inclination after lunar orbit insertion. The stuff I was reading (a NASA research paper) was definitely using NASA-level timing, as they were showing a capture burn followed by correction burns, and rendezvous during the first orbit. That seems somewhat (or highly) unlikely in KSP, but it would be great to hear your thoughts. Thanks, and congrats on a great presentation of this mission!

Thank you for enjoying the video, much appreciated! For creating the NRHO orbit I didn't have to arrive in a specific angle of the Moon, because almost automatically it would stabilize and enter the lagrange point, thus creating the orbit. Upon arrival I aimed for the Pe to be seated at the north pole of the Moon, as seen in the video. But of course it required alot of fine tuning after the capture. The NRHO orbit Gateway had required course correction about every 180-200 days but I'm sure that it could be alot more stable if I would put more time into fine tuning the orbit. Sadly I don't have any specific numbers I could give to you about inclination or any other orbital elements. To rendezvous with Gateway was very hard, it required precise planning because the orbit is in such a weird angle and high eccentricity. That's why when doing the rendezvous I used a more direct arrival and wasted alot of delta V and time, but I'm sure that with planning the rendezvous could be alot more both time and delta V efficient. You sure know alot more than me about orbital mechanics and NRHO orbits! I hope I could provide some useful information! And again, thank you for enjoying the video!

@@drstowaters awesome info, thank you! I really don't know squat about this stuff, and the math is way beyond me, but it's fascinating all the same! Almost all of my KSP time is in re-creations or pre-creations of RL missions, so this was really interesting to me. Thanks again!

Only complaint is that the IHAB was supposed to launch as a co-manifested payload on Artemis IV, still a very good video

A question : Can the second-stage of F9 Heavy restart for lunar capture?

armchair answer; yes, it has been done before on falcon 9 flights at least, not sure about heavy flights though.

It depends on a lot of things. What comes to mind immediately is things like LOX boiloff, battery power, mass, and a whole bunch of other stuff I can’t think of rn
