So I finally got a chance to take part in the sumo life...I bought myself a set of wheels from MotoX industries and you'll see a quick installation on my KTM 690. Definitely had a chance to take it to IMI where it performed flawlessly. Stay tuned for more Bike-Life content.

I did this too. I now ride my 690 enduro as a sumo more than i ride my gsxr1000. Paired with rade garage rally tower/windshield, sportbike guys are in trouble vs the 690

I was wondering if you could post your exact set up from motox industries. Like what T sprocket? I’m interested in a 42 for highway but would I have to change the chain? Tire size? Tube or tubeless? What tires? Your setup is awesome, I love the orange hub on the back wheels!

Now that you have done the swap once how long do you think it would take to switch back and forth? Wanting to buy a sumo setup but afraid my lazy ass will just leave my dirt tires on all the time. The stock TK's are wearing way too fast on the street and I would like to have more fun with confidence on the tarmac .

I’d say depends on your set up, for me it would be as quick as an hour or so. Especially since I didn’t have to buy a new chain for the swap. So it’s literally swapping the front and rear tire. It would get a bit annoying but Incan tell you the sumo set up is so good on this bike.

Great vid, I am looking to do the same. Do you know if you have to change the ABS sensors etc or can you simply use the ones that are already on the enduro?

It’s been a while but I remember just running the stock sensors. You’ll have to adjust some settings in the display but nothing major.

Thanks for the vid, I have the same bike and a set of warp 9 elite wheels and can’t get the axel to go through the hub of the rear wheel. Did you have any trouble with that?

No not that I can remember. It was pretty straight forward. Maybe make sure you have everything aligned and give it a love tap

@@guambra2001 Hey I have a question. I too have an Enduro R. The stock setup is 21/18. When you put 17/17 did it unsettle the bike at all? It seems to me the geometry of the bike is set up for that stock 21" front tire but you are effectively lowering the front end 3". Any issues with that?

Hey, question regarding this. i’m currently looking into purchasing a 2015 enduro with sm wheels. Wanted to know if all I needed to convert it back are the oem knobby wheel set? Thanks!

Not entirely sure, it’s been such a long time and I don’t have that bike anymore. But I had two wheel sets, one fore SM and the OEM one.

awesome! Let's say i want keep swaping my bike between enduro and sumo setups for different days, how many minutes on average such swap would take (considering all other preparations already done like cutting the plastics, i might keep long enduro-kickstand arm on all the time) ?

Depending on your set up, it could be as quickly as 15-20 min. For me, it was about 30 min since it shared the same chain and had different sprockets already mounted. I also like to take my time but yeah not too long honestly.

Is the KTM 690 supermoto and enduro basically the same bike except the wheels.

Mostly, the suspension is set up a bit different for the enduro version (longer and different version) but otherwise mostly the same thing.

There’s benefits to having the enduro over the SMCR like the better suspension, explorer over apex, but I see your point. Looking back I’d probably just buy the SMCR since I don’t do much off-road anymore.

That depends, I didn’t ride the SMCR for comparison, but in my limited skill set, I thought it was great. There’s extra length in the suspension to soak up he bumps, it was firm but complaint and overall it felt pretty good. I don’t have the bike anymore but I sure do miss it. It was my dream bike.

I actually crashed it right before moving to CA. It was a great bike.
