Hey at least you get the sun, here in Scotland its rain and cold every day, i would be happy to ride anything in the weather you have there, i was going to buy the SDR 1290 but wondered if 5 days riding a year was worth it, well sometimes we get 6 days sun but thats it

Have you had to make any warranty claims yet I bought mine and 2020 and I’ve had to bring it in 4 times for warranty claims they’ve had my bike for two months first the flange cracked on the head and I got coolant into the motor I’ve had to change 2 timing chain tensioners so I’m on my third my front brake rotors are slightly warped I agree with everything you said The bikes amazing I put a hyper pro stabilizer on it it’s awesome and I got a seat with a 2 inch rise in the front to get rid of the tank slop and it’s awesome I miss my bike hopefully I get it back soon peace brother✌🏻

I hate that every thing on the display disappears with the signal lites on. Especially the gear indicator just as you are slowing for a turn.

Awesome review, I bought the 890 Duke because I’m just a weekend rider on my days off. I installed the windshield and it made a huge difference riding at highway speeds. Just my two cents.

@@Different-Level Probably a bit late, but my brother and i have an 890. He has the GP (base model with decals), i have the R. Imo, the brakes and suspension make a huge difference. Corner stability and brake reliability is way better than with the R. I felt a bit unsafe when cornering on slightly rough roads on his, i never had that feeling on mine. If you can miss it, go for the R!

I bought a 2022 890 Duke R and I’ve noticed a few issues and I hope this isn’t the start of something bad. Love this bike and power. Few things I’ve noticed. When I first bought the bike it has a lot of chatter from the engine but went away when warmed up. Today 6/30/22, the chattering was still there even after warm. Has less than 300 miles on it. Second thing I’m having issues with is the clutch, might be an adjustment but I’ve had it pop into neutral when taking off from first gear and when down shifting from second to first it popped into neutral instead. This could be an issue from some who down down to slow down. Third issue is that my front end, no matter how good the road is the tire feels like it’s jumping almost like a severely out of balance tire, goes right through the handle bars into my arms. The forth issue and the most concerning to me happened a few days ago. I took off from a stop light 1st, 2nd, and into 3rd I went to get going so I rolled the throttle and it took off like normal and then it cut out on me for like a split second but was enough time that it made me almost fall forward before it came back and was fine. It’s kinda felt like that a few other times since but nothing like the first time it happened. Still love the bike but that seat sucks

I have the same issue with the shifter. Just be heavy footed going from or to 1 and 2. The rest you can be gentle, but you have to be rude about it going around neutral.

You should have stuck with Japanese bikes KTMs our junk GSXR Hayabusa done nothing to the bike 50,000 miles still runs like new my friend got a z x 1400 he said it's so boring cuz he does nothing to it just keeps on running Japanese bikes tested for years for dependability ktm's garbage. And I wouldn't trust English bikes either for longevity. Kawasaki Suzuki and Yamaha all check the box you won't have nothing wrong with them and they just keep running.

i had a 08 Street Triple years ago. It was hands down my favorite motorcycle I've ever owned up until I got my Duke (sorry, channel owner, not trying to steal your thunder) - now it's .... maybe? still my favorite? I would argue the Triumph was a "better" bike as far as .. being sorted, feeling nice, etc, but the Duke is way more fun. The Duke is a hoot. How you liking yours ... a month or so into ownership?

@@padrescout love it mate, got about 1200miles on it now, Don a few all day rides, I've changed the seat to the 20mm heigher powerparts seat and got the powerparts orange bars as they are raised about 20mm also to keep the ergos the same, I found the original seat bit tough, the triumph spoilt me in the seat department. I prefer the supermoto vibe from the 890 not so serious as the triumph.

Currently thinking about swapping (maybe tomorrow) my street triple for an 890 Duke. Just stuck on the R or GP (normal sped with a paint job) as the bike to go for. I’m not going to be doing any track sessions and it being the UK, the roads aren’t always dry so I’m not convinced with the race tyres. But then I just know I’d always be ‘wanting’ those few extra HPs etc.

Nice review. Thinking of getting one of these. Only a few things concerning me. One the motor production is moving to China. Also they upcharge you for electronics you get included with the mt09sp. I have heard there are some issues popping up here and there with reliability too. Man the thing is a monster though. I'm a bigger rider and I think you have a little more room than the mt09. You said the bike had some head shake. Can you kind of expand on that? You really should not need a steering stabilizer to stop that. It just should not exist. To me the steering stabilizer is more for when you get the tire front tire off the ground and come down weird.

You mention the power cup c's. They were an ok tire for the road for sure. After I put my Road 6 tires on I have never felt better on the bike. I will have to say you can actually feel the stiffness of the tires vs the old ones with the new road 6's but still overall highly recommend them if you don't do track

your phone mount - I'd get rid of it. I was on a highway in Michigan 2 weeks ago with the same exact setup as you (on a 790 Duke). I hit 130mph and my phone flew off - lost somewhere in the highway median. I walked up and down the highway for over an hour...couldn't find it.

@iron-brigade

@@padrescout well - a combination of things - the Duke has no air resistance from the front; I didn't use the safety bungy straps; and I was above 130mph north of Detroit.... I literally saw it start to rattle as I was tucked over the tank... there were cars on the highway about 50 yards behind me and so jumping on the brakes wasn't going to be safe and within a second or two it flew off. It's my mistake for not using the safety strap. But moreover, I didn't really need to have the phone mounted anyway...which is what I'm more upset about.

Also the engine has loud mechanical clatter valve and cam chain noise it sounds like it will fly apart at any moment! @@glennkrick Yeah, you can have a bike with some pedigree, an interesting design, and some really awesome engineering happening, which might break sometimes ... or you can have a Japanese machine, which will never break - no matter how badly you wish it would - that will be ... let' face it, kind of mediocre fit and finish wise, look like every other Japanese bike on the road and basically be a toaster with wheels on it. How excited are you to get up every morning and toast bread?
