The Judge can’t ask that, it is now a criminal investigation and that question would be a question asked by the prosecution. She has a 5th Amendment to remain silent so she doesn’t even have to answer. This is not a trial they are hearings for bail ect. Even in trial, she doesn’t have to go up on the stand.

It seems though that as the spouse of the parent with guardianship, he would most definitely realize the kids were not around and by not reporting their disappearance that he should be at least charged with obstruction or withholding information or some legal term along those lines. You can play dumb not knowing what happened to them, but he never reported them missing and that seems criminally negligent at the very least.

Lori is only being held on contempt charges on the presumption that a mother should be able to produce the kids that are in her care. Any moderately adept lawyer would be able to argue effectively against apply this same onus to a step-parent. But SO SO SO many people are SO emotionally "hot" to see some manner of vengeance . . . they don't realize that (if my research is correct), 5 years and a fine of a few hundred dollars are the most they can do to her. And arguable, her in jail doesn't bring them any closer to the kids' whereabouts. Free, she might have made some stupid mistake trying to make sure her tracks were covered. She was a petite little BEAUTIFUL blonde, blue eyed little girl. The POSTER CHILD looks of a child that was considered at the highest risk for abduction. And she was so trusting that she would have gone anywhere with anyone. All of a sudden she was gone! I had just seen her. She had been right there with me, and now she was gone! I was looking frantically around for her, calling her name and could NOT find her! I'm looking in ALL the clothing racks... Nothing! I even had the store personnel looking for her! I just couldn't find her. We'd been looking for at least 10 minutes! I was about to lose my mind. About the time I was ready to call the police (no cell phones back then!) I heard giggling from some where. We finally found her in that round rack of clothes that I'd been looking at when the whole thing started. But in her little mind, she was just playing hide and seek. I would absolutely LOSE MY MIND if something happened to one of my kids! I not only have zero sympathy for this woman, but I think that there is a very high likelihood that she has thrown her kids off the side of a mountain somewhere! And yes, the last time they were seen was in a mountainous state park, in Idaho, I believe.

The reason that I disagree is because their obstruction is costing a tremendous amount of money to carry on this investigation. So if they've done nothing wrong, then they should have no problem revealing where the children are. If they have not been charged with obstruction, I certainly expect that to be coming, again if they haven't already been charged with it! I somehow think this may be more sinister than the Anthony case. Casey probably killed her kid through negligence and frustration over her desire to have a party life, resulting in a VERY "late term abortion" of her own living child. Unthinkable, I know. So what could be worse? If there's a system in place for it through Lori's cult, THAT would be even worse. Her kids may have been murdered or forced into a life of slavery or seclusion, not just by their own mother, but also assisted by her fellow cult members. THAT kind of system could breed many, many Casey Anthonies. I'm not saying this exists, but it wouldn't be the first "end times" cult to do that, so it should be considered.

I promise you that she’s under orders from her counsel to not cry or show any emotion during this hearing. She has to remain calm. Period. Especially since there was video being taken the courtroom. Any show of emotion in these early hearings could affect the way she’s perceived in later court appearances. It’s counsel’s job to show her in the best possible light now, even though they won’t be likely to represent her in Idaho.

The bail of 5 million is very high for child negligence and abandonment charges. She has NOT been charged with murder yet, even though everyone has the suspicion she is a murderer of her own children.
