@Jay I agree. I get very depressed when I look at these videos and it's getting worse every day. I'm stuck in an apartment lease because a simple basic home of my very own (on just a small piece of land) is so unaffordable and unattainable for regular people like me just trying to live a simple life.

The vibe of that house is more valuable than anything...The lady who built it, recorded its development, made decisions for its construction, owned it and loved every inch of it before you was an amazing wonderful person ...it is obvious....She was happy there...It is a happy place.

That was always my dream. Once I finally got my dream but after several years I became cripple with rheumatoid arthritis and had to stop working as an RN. Then my lower back started to deteriorate. I had worked well over 30 years. But once on a limited income I was unable to afford to keep it and have the help I needed. I've never gotten over having to leave my dream..

I see what you’re saying. But it’s still small (not “tiny” as titled in video) imo. If you compare it to tiny homes of today that are all the trend then no, it’s not small. But back when it was built it was def small especially when you compare it to a standard home.
@miss_xenia_
@miss_xenia_ 3 жыл бұрын
@@MichelleNovalee I think the “standard” home definitely depends on location and income/class. So for a holiday cabin this might be huge and about normal size for a family home(you could easily fit 3-4 bedrooms in the attic & basement) in Northern Europe if you’re a middle class family 🤗 so all depends on what your “normal” is Either way, it’s a lovely home 🥰

You do not realise how lucky you are young man. I am 63 years old and live in the UK where unfortunately all land is owned by the aristocracy or the landed gentry. You live in a country that luckely doesn't have either and with huge amounts of land available you are able to just buy a chunk of land and build something beautiful on it like this cabin. I am green with envy as in the UK we have no chance of doing this. The cabin and location look magical. Keep it, love it, never sell it and hand it eventually down to your children. You are indeed a lucky man. Rx

DONT build one!!! They are super inefficient....heat sink to hold cold in winter and heat in summer . We have a cabin half that size (800 sq ft) with a HUGE masonry fireplace....it's NOT good! @@gypsygirl9 I'm thinking of moving northward in my retirement even from Georgia because of the increasing heat. My brother lives in rural northern North Carolina where the cost of living and houses is pretty cheap. Cities are a different story, of course, but if you need employment you'd have to go there. I've been doing a little research and Knoxville, Tennessee is pretty cheap and with a low crime rate; lots of retirees there. Nashville and Chattanooga have high crime and Memphis is out of the question. Anywhere in the south is going to be politically very conservative, but Georgia (in spite of M.T. Greene) and the Carolinas seem to be slightly less so. I'd be in Colorado in a heart beat of the cost if living there wasn't so high; housing is sky high. Good luck with your plans!

@@gypsygirl9 Curious as to what part of Florida do you live in. I recently moved to Vero beach and it’s absolutely beautiful. But if you are looking for a place in Tennessee my cabin is close to Monterey. It’s an hour and a half east of Nashville and very rural. There is no state tax and the cost-of-living is much lower than Florida. The land and the rent it’s much more affordable though the cost of housing has gone up recently since there’s a big influx of people moving into Tennessee from California New York and New Jersey.... likely to escape the high cost of living and endless lockdowns in blue states. Research Cumberland Cove or Monterey which is directly in the middle of Cookeville and Crossville. Both are 15 minutes in each direction so if you’re looking for employment there is opportunities there but jobs are mostly blue-collar (nothing wrong with that) or If you work from home (and there are a lot of options out there to do that now ) Monterey will be a great place to live. Very peaceful, hiking trails, waterfalls, caves....The town is on a plateau with an elevation of 2000 feet. Best wishes to you with your move.

Saw this at random now, subscribed and can’t wait to see yoir follow up videos! What a lovely trio you are, and if you have children one day they will be extremely priviliged growing up in this beautiful house immersed in an enchanted landscape! What state is this in? Dear Heart: what a gorgeous property!!! Congratulations on your beautiful home and woods!!! Like others who have posted, I am locked into living in an apartment and the pandemic wreaked havoc on my savings due to having lost one job and taking another at a huge pay cut. Yet, still I have hope that I can retire to a forest one day and just live quietly. May your lives be enriched by all the beauty of the Forest and your Home. All Love

A perfect little cottage in the woods. It doesn't get any better than this. Beautiful views, a babbling brook and plenty of trees . I love the trees. I love all of it, so fairytale beautiful. Enjoy and I can't wait to see what lies ahead. Thank you for a peek inside of peace and comfort...hugs from Arizona...:)

Such a lovely home this will be for you both! Congratulations on finding such a sweet gem and acting upon it and being willing to place some work into it to get it to where you both want and furnishing it in your own creative way. I am positive your dog will love it although feel all three of you already are in love with it! Lots of water with all that running water from the streams. Relaxing to listen to and we all can sue that in this busy world.

Oh that is a beautiful cabin/home. The interior with all of the wood floors, walls and ceilings is fantastic. The vaulted ceiling and french doors just elevate this woodland abode into a very fine eye appeal from outside and inside. The built in cabinet/bookshelf spaces are a bonus imo. Especially the ones going down the stairs to the lower level. This dwelling has everything I'd want for living in the woods. A babbling Brook and a little bridge to go over, just divine. You hit the jackpot with this property. So much potential to add even more charm! But the glow of the wood in that interior is so welcoming and cozy.

I actually would not add a shower upstairs and would just use the downstairs shower...unless they really want to modify the roof line! (If I was going to add a shower, it would be an outdoor one.) I think built in, graduated depth drawers across that low nook for linens/clothes would be more practical. They can use some of the wood from Anne's excessive storage nooks. Also, I don't see room for a full fireplace, unless they want to sacrifice the couple windows in the living space, but maybe a small glass-front wood or gas stove could work. Also, a full fireplace in there would cook them out.

This house is neither tiny nor a cottage. However thank you for showing it to us. The length of the driveway would mandate the purchase of a vehicle with a plow if this is somewhere where it snows.

That is a lovely home! Not too big, not too small. Three tips for you: 1-Temporary fix for creaking floors. Rub cornstarch, baby powder, etc in between boards. It'll help with creaking. 2-Algae cleaner for decks, concrete and almost anything: Mix white vinegar and water in a bucket and use a scrub brush on a pole or by hand. Or, put vinegar in soap dispenser of power washer and spray. Note: vinegar is a great disinfectant and cleaner for almost any use. However, do NOT use it on marble or granite countertops or surfaces. The acidity in the vinegar is bad for these porous surfaces. 3-Oxiclean is a good cedar shingle cleaner. Make a paste with a little water and use a scrub brush. Or, use premixed spray bottle type and spray on. Scrub if needed and rinse off with water hose. The premixed type can also be added to soap dispenser of power washer. Best wishes!
