Great choice. If anyone's (very much) into Mongol history and especially warfare I hotly recommend Schwerpunkt's videos series. He's a PhD in Medieval history specialized in tactics and he dedicated a lot of his work to the Mongol military machine + steppes warfare broadly and in depth

I.....I feel like an idiot. I kept thinking Genghis Khan and Kublai were the same person. I was wondering why he went by different names. Genghis, Chenghis, Kublai....Then I thought maybe Kublai was his warrior name (because I think he wasn't born named Genghis Khan...) and Genghis was his title and maybe it was pronounced in different ways like Chenghis. So his full name is Genghis (Chenghis) Kublai Khan. And I've seen videos titled under Kublai's name but I thought, "Oh it's just another video about Genghis." And I dont remember if the Genghis Khan videos I've seen went on about his family after him. His story always ended with his legendary burial. Plus, I just only recently heard that he had a granddaughter who was a badass too. I'm so glad I decided to clicked on this video when it came up in my notifs. I was just going to save it under my folder of "History and Interesting Things" and watch it later. I can't tell y'all how big of an idiot I feel right now, but I'm not ashamed to share with y'all how dumb I am. I'm just ashamed that I didnt know Kublai's story, thinking he was Genghis. 🤦🏿‍♀️🤦🏿‍♀️🤡🤡. The only good thing is today, I'll be busy learning about Kublai now. 😊

You left out the part about Kublai Khan trying to stop the next incarnation of the Avatar by wiping out the Air Nomads. Very shoddy research if I say so.

I think administration wise, Kublai was smarter. He was more generous and ruthless only when needed. He has Chinese officials in his empire, and his wife being Chinese also played an important role in the Yuan empire.

I think Kublai Khan's rule was a little bit more civilized than Genghis Khan. during the time of his grandfather, the Great Khan, it was all about conquests, battles and plunders while during the time of Kublai, the Mongols tried to integrate into the societies they conquered thus enriching their culture.

Kublai Khan was a Mongol warlord and aggressor who managed to conquer China with the help of Northern Chinese quislings. he never ruled over a unified Mongol empire only China and Mongolia. he pretended to be like a Chinese emperor but his regime was never accepted by the majority of the people. they knew he was a foreign ruler who was kept in place by his restrained but significant military and security apparatus. all Mongols rulers held their positions by violence or terror. i am unaware of any modern nation that use any of the policies or political or economic setups that the Mongols used in the 13th and 14th centuries. what lasting effects is the video talking about?

Should there be, was the name "Marco Polo " supposed to of been brought about, it could of been brought about before then (or maybe after).But that doesn't mean Marco Polo did not travel to China.

Something else to keep in mind, how did the Compass, Blackpowder (Gunpowder),Fireworks, Papermoney, Acupuncture, Noodles, Martial Arts, Budda(originally from India) Bow and Arrow, Meditation (levitation) and I'm sure that there's other things, but how did ALL that end up in Italy, MARCO POLO brought it back from China.
