Kubota B2650 - Upgrading the dynamo to a high output alternator

The ROPS version of the Kubota B2650 comes with a very small "dynamo" to generate electricity for charging the tractors battery. The Cab version of the same tractor and all versions of the B3350 tractors come with a much more capable alternator. If you own a B2650 ROPS and want to put LED lights or other electrical accessories on the machine, you will need to upgrade to an alternator.
Kubota sells a 40 AMP alternator kit for the older B2630 (not a typo, thats B twenty six thirty) which is directly compatible with the B2650. In this video, I show how to install the B2630 alternator kit on the B2650 tractor. The alternator kit that I used is Kubota wholegoods item number B7324 and it's available from many dealers such as Messick's and Coleman. Here's a link to where I purchased my kit:

I bought the B7324 kit from Coleman, but it took a little while since they didn't have any in stock. Your video was an excellent instruction manual very much needed because if I had to rely on their instructions, I would have been scratching my head a lot. The install took 45 minutes like you suggested. As info, the belt installation was the most difficult step as it was a tight fit. Thanks for your video as I'm glad to have the dynamo replaced.

My similar kit for my B2601 just arrived. I have a Japanese-made B2601, the US-made ones now come standard with the alternator, but the upgrade kit is still available for older B2601s. I read the instructions tonight and thought "that's gonna be fun." The instructions looked quite specific and clear, but very very abbreviated. Your video puts it all in context - I'm sure my tractor is a little bit different, but most of what you're showing lined up with what the instructions say for the B2601. Thanks for making this.

Great video. It also appears you timed your upgrade perfectly. I just took delivery of the last b2650 my dealer will move before the model change. Shopping for the alternator kit and it’s virtually nonexistent online. The couple I did find are over $500. 🤬

Hello! Great video. On your main wiring harness does it have a slow blow fuse as well near starter? I know that harness with the kit has one as well if so now you have two slow blow fuses? I could not tell from the video. Getting ready to install mine. Thank you...

Good stuff, this is my next mod. Took care of the poorly aimed exhaust by just adding an elbow. Home made custom step upgrade is in the works. Does the kit show step by step instructions? Thanks' Thomas, great info vid. Cheers.

I’ve recently installed this without seeing your video. I did everything the same, but I did remove the old regulator. Have not been able to get my tractor to start since. Turns over, but won’t start. One thing I’m not clear about is what did you do with the other end of the blue wires that were connected to the dynamo?

Blue wires don't matter. They connect the dynamo (low quality DC) to the regulator. When you remove the regulator they are disconnected.

I have an off brand micro excavator with a kubota d722 engine- can anyone confirm weather this kit will work with the d722? I realize it probably wouldnt be plug and play but I basically just wondered if this was the correct alternator and bracketry?

Did you ever get this figured out? I'm trying to mod my mini excavator also so can keep my air conditioner going. Mines a d722 also.
