Dave: You. Are. The. Best. That's it, that's all I got. The sealer (or lack there of) had me laughing my ever-loving ass off!

Yup. When things are going too good,it usually means something’s gonna go wrong 👍😃. Best to go back and do it right. I think the finished project is going to be A1. Thanks for sharing the good and bad. Have a good one.

Dave, it must feel so good to finally mate those two halves back together. Everything looks great. I sure (and still) do identify with your story on your younger days. I'm getting much better at breathing and taking things in stride as I get older, but I can still loose it on a bad day. But with the bolt pins and the bore scope you'll be fine; just the adversary trying to get you to loose it. 😀That part of your tractor is now BRAND NEW. Rejoice in that my friend. The stands you made for supporting your tractor halves are awesome, making it so easy to slide one half to another. Great job. Thanks for taking us all along on a 1st class clutch job. Seat time is getting closer and closer. Take care.

I use to like dating school teachers cause they made me do it over and over till I got it right. however this tractor job is not something I enjoy doing over and over. lol ha ha yeah I could not believe I had forgot the gasket maker. turned out to be a blessing though. its on there and its right. well at least I hope its right. lol

Don't you find it astonishing Dave that you are seeing more and more that people won't call you back? Business people? I haven't had the time to watch your videos all the way through as I am very busy in the spring. When a rainy day ever comes I am gong to binge watch "daveknowshow"

no worries my friend life does creep up on us if we are not careful we can get behind in our chores. youtube is many times on the back burner for me as well. yes people in business not calling back is so strange to me. I was in the service industry for years and I cant wrap my head around not calling people back.

Im afraid if it was me I'd just pull it apart enough to keep the splines in place and break out a tube of permatex gasket in a squeeze tube and have at it. It's probably as good as anything else.
@daveknowshow
@daveknowshow 3 жыл бұрын
yeah they want you to use three bond googolly goo goo number two or some mess lol jokin cant remember the name. I actually found some on amazon. slid it apart and put it on. turns out the screw up was a good thing. now that the splines are clocked correctly it slid back quicker where as before the gasket maker would have set up before the two halves were bolted and torqued together.

That molly will do the rick, Dave. When you were reading off all the fine things molly does for the metal joints, I almost considered dipping a spoon of that molly in my coffee so I can feel relief from body joint pain 🤗. Yup, some companies don't follow up calling you and they still use COVID as the excuse why thy haven't contacted you. That's a bunch of bull, I say. I know you're more than ready to get ole girl back together in her prom dress so you can get some tractor time. Good you decided to separate the halves to put the gasket gunk between the two. You'll feel better knowing it's done right. The worst is over so cracking her open shouldn't be too bad. Have a fine Friday, my friend. Stay positive and keep looking up. 👍🏽🙂

same here. gasket sealer just slips my mind on clutch housings. not like its full of oil. oh well now that I did it twice I guess I'm twice as good at it as I was before. which is not saying much since two times zero is still zero! lol ha ha

lol ha ha I doubt I even rank in the back yard hack department of mechanics. ha ha. I only do this sort of work because I lack the money to pay some one else for one and also because I dont trust anyone to do the work correctly. lol you know how that is.

LOL. You and I have very similar personalities. I was the same way in my younger days. Now when I goof like that I do the same thing, just kind of laugh at myself and deal with it. I try to take my time and not rush. Overall you have done some fine work showing the process. Thank you for sharing it with us. On a side note. Where did you get the shelter/tent setup that you are using? How ell has it held up? I could use something like that at my place here in North Florida. I would need something that could hold up to the rain that we get.
@daveknowshow

this is the harbor freight 10 x 17 I think? not sure on dimensions. I put a wood floor under it so it was nice and level and I could easily roll the tractor on it. they are cheap and do NOT hold up well in my experience. however I get the extended warranty and simply turn it in once a year getting a new one and then buying the warranty again. not sure how many times they will allow me to do that. we shall see before the year is up. lol I wish I had made the floor larger like 12 x 24. as it is its 16 x 8 which is smaller than the tent. I had to raise the tent to get the tractor inside. when blows this thing like crazy and I already loss one to wind damage and one to sun damage. with my limited income this was all I could afford for now. I may turn this floor into a shed with wood sides and shingle roof. well if lumber prices ever drop. lol
