Best real-world Q/H video! You solved the top link problems quite nicely. Any reason I couldn't weld a filler in the bottom hooks (like you did to the top hook) to avoid the use of bushings? Seems wasteful to have to go out and buy a set of bushings for every implement. Older guy here too, and I'm so done with jockeying implements around to get them to line up with the 3Pt hitch holes. Thanks & God bless.

I love how easy you make it to understand. This video confirmed my understanding of the ins and outs of a hydraulic system without any doubts. It's great that you didn't complicate things by bringing the spool valves into the lesson, yet touched on it perfectly.

Dave, I used water hose parts (2 way splitter, barbed fittings, etc) and it worked well, BUT I thought I could get away without the gauge! Boy was I wrong. BOTH my tires came off the bead WITH RV ANTIFREEZE LEAKING OUT. Dude, that was stressful! I thought I was going to lose a bunch on the ground! I put a ratchet strap on quickly, and aired it up, got it back on by some miracle, and was able to finish without much loss. BUT the gauge would have helped me keep an eye on the pressure, and keep SOME pressure in the tire, like 5 psi or so, and that would have helped keep the tire on the rim. Funny, when I did let all the air out initially, and it stayed on the rim, but once I started filling it with fluid and it got some weight in it, the tire then sagged and popped off the rim. I think if I had kept *some* pressure in it, like 5psi or so MINIMUM, then, it might have stayed on. Shoulda listened the first time to my buddy Dave 🙂
@daveknowshow
@daveknowshow Ай бұрын
for sure my son " who is a certified kubota tech" has had tires come off the bead and half off the rim. lost all the fluid! i learned from his mistake. the device they use dont have a gauge so once the tire pressure was down below 5psi bam! off the rim it came. 5psi would likely be good most likely. I tried to keep mine up as high as I could to insure my bead stayed intact. its a learning curve for sure. glad you were fast with the rachet strap! lol

I'm currently doing this mod to my old JD 513 Bush Hog to make it fit a HF quick hitch. (got the aftermarket hook) I've got the lower pivot bushings in they work perfect. The upper parts are very similar to the one in this video. Would you still do the upper conversion this way, which makes it work like a modern bush hog pivot, or would you just put chains on it and call it a day? I won't know how well the pivot works until I'm completely done so just thinking about plan B just in case the pivot doesn't work out.
@daveknowshow

Chains are ok but cause a floppy issue that making hooking up a challenge at times. It’s doable but not perfect. My finish mower mod has chains you can look at that video here on my channel. Thanks for the comment!

Yes thanks. Still tinkering with it work has kept me from diving back in. It did finally occur to me yesterday how that system worked to keep the back pivot portion "up" and the front one to hook to "down." Pretty genius. It should all work perfect if I just weld a stop piece on the back pivot so it can't roll all the way down under the other one and get stuck. Then it should be pretty much exactly like a modern one. Really, thanks for this ancient video. No one other than you has ever actually shown a way to convert it properly.

Great video Dave. Flow rate of the hydraulic pump is one of the things people don't seem to fully understand. I see so many people post about sloppy/loose hydraulic cylinders. Most of them don't admit that they were working the hydraulics at low RPM leading up to the issue or that they typically operate hydraulics at low RPM. They also forget that some of their hydraulic flow is sucked up by the power steering. What ends up happening is they get air in their hydraulic lines and need to crack a fitting or two to purge it quickly rather than running high RPM for a long period to let the hydraulic system self purge.

Thanks for this great video. I don't fully understand though... I just purchased a 2022 Kubota B2601 and the power beyond port goes directly to the tank. I watched some videos of how to add rear remotes and they just take that line off and utilize it for rear remote spools. But that doesn't seem to line up with this video that always shows the PB going to the 3 point. In my head somehow the power beyond has to have pressure against it otherwise it would just relieve all the pressure in the system going straight to the tank, right? I mean I know that seems right to me but somehow it can't be? Thanks for your help!
@daveknowshow
@daveknowshow 2 ай бұрын
Yes it bypasses straight to tank until you move the three point lever. Then the pressure increases due to load. Once three point is in position and is satisfied via the feedback rod the valve reverts back to dumping to tank. In other words the three point control valve dumps to tank and is the last valve in the circuit. Also when no spool valve is calling for fluid power the system shows very low to no pressure.pressure is only present when fluid is place into a path of resistance. As in into a hydraulic cylinder. I hope this helps
@veritasventures1737
@veritasventures1737 2 ай бұрын
@@daveknowshow Thanks for your explanation! That definitely helps. I also learned that when folks called the line on my tractor that goes from loader valve PB port to the 'tank' it is actually going to the 3 point first, as you're saying. That helped clear things up for me, too. It is a little hard to understand how there is little to no pressure in the system normally, but when something calls for fluid somehow pressure appears. Sounds like magic to me lol. Thanks again!

Thank you for the video brother! I just bought a Kubota L4060, my first ever tractor, and I’m waiting for delivery any day now. One of my jobs is going to be fixing and maintaining our private gravel road and my neighbors and my driveways. I opted to spend the extra on the factory top and tilt kilt to make those tasks easier. I also got a grading scraper to accompany my box blade but will be starting off with the box blade because the road is in such poor shape and a lot of gravel has made its way down to the bottom of the hill. The tips you have given in this video are really going to help me out to save time and have a better looking end result. God bless you and yours!
