Hello Everyone,
Hope you are all enjoying the summer!
When our friend Kai Guan was here in Ireland training with me back in May we had the opportunity to film a quick tutorial on the Shaolin Dao, or Chinese Broadsword, here I share with you a little technique called ' Wrap Your Head with the Sword' , it is a cool defensive movement with the sword, hope you enjoy training the technique.

My favorite part of your tutorials is the fact that you explain "why" each movement is. When I am learning a new form in my Kung Fu classes, I'm just memorizing the movements without knowing "why" I have to do a specific movement. So the form I'm learning doesn't make sense to me, & I get confused. Knowing that you're blocking, striking, etc helps me visualize what my form is about. Thank you for the extra help (even though I'm still a beginner and not suppose to learn broadsword yet), and please keep these kind of videos coming!

I began studying martial arts (karate) as a youngster in 1969. In 1983 I began studying Bak Sil Lum and fell in love with kung fu. I studied 5 years then 2 years of Choy Lay Fut with Master Lee Koon Hung and some 7 Star Praying Mantis. I agree with the other comments, Sifu your kung fu is excellent! It is very difficult to find good kung fu so thank you for sharing. Please consider starting a school in the U.S.

There's no Kung-fu class nor any single place to practice Kung-fu in my place, but now I have chance to learn Kung-fu... There's no worries, cause you teach us litle by little and explain its philosophical meaning of every single movement and fist.. thanks a lot shifu... 🙏🙏🙏

I don't know how should I thank you... You made some awesome workouts and tutorials which were hard but it was worth it. I never had a master but If someone ask me if I ever had master I would say that you learned me everything

Sifu, thank you very much. I am a practicioner of wing Chun Kung Fu but I like to learn technics of nothern Kung Fu styles etc. My wing Chun Sifu also tell me to know other technics also. I am from Sri Lanka we all are Asian people

Nice tutorial!! Very good job breaking the movement down, this is a hard concept to learn when starting the broad sword. Could you make a tutorial on spinning double smash kick? Can’t find a good one anywhere 🤦‍♀️

Cantoubonao: Relax your shoulders, make sure for your palm the fingers are together, don't twist your body so much. This basic action is to be used as a defense, rather than an attack, as you say when you say "CUT", "CUT". it's more of wrapping the sword around your body and defend many possible attacks. Can tou Bo nao means to go around your head and neck

Amituofo Shifu! Any links for buying a Chinese Broadsword? I only own a Tai-chi sword. Just bought my son a wooden Katana sword. Do you have Tai-chi sword videos too? I am assuming you do not have Katana sword videos since it is a Japanese sword or is my assumption wrong?

You know I always wonder about weapon training... since I don't want to break the law even although it's really for continuing an art form so it doesn't become forgotten and for health benifits too. Yet how on earth would one get a weapon like that and still keep within UK law? Can you get wooden ones for home or have to go too a martial arts school?

My son's Kung Fu teacher keeps telling his class that he's going to start teaching sword Kung Fu next, but I don't see how useful it would be. People don't use swords, anymore do they? Knives - yes. KFL, Is there any practical benefit to this or is it for demonstration purposes only?
