The finished product turned out so beautiful! I love to see your evolution of yaruki’s design over time!

Full disclaimer: I have never done woodworking before. But seeing the wonderful design you made run into trouble with glue I thought of something. I have seen some people on KZfaq soak the wooden handles of newly made hammers in linseed oil. Supposedly the oil makes the wood swell up and grip the head of the handle. So I thought, instead of using glue, why don't you join the wooden pieces together without glue and submerge it in linseed oil?
I love the finished pattern, and also the half-way done pattern with gaps. I would hang it on my wall, or make a shady area in the garden with it!

The idea you had for a lamp or screen made of it. Maybe you could run a dowel through the yaruki pieces and the pieces inserted? like a bolt on a door hinge. If you did that the whole way through, it could keep the stack together and also let it fold open and closed.

You won me my freind👍😊. Most creators would have edited the heck out of this, but you worked through it warts and all. Now you know how youll make that table and you have a couple of very cool looking chopping boards aswell.👍new sub, take care😊

Très jolie 😢 triste que ça soit casser, après en utilisant une essence de bois plus dur, cela peut être une solution ou alors effectivement avec la résine 🤔❤ bon courage !
That is a really nice design. I think a small amount of superglue would have held the pieces in place then you could flood the surface with epoxy resin.

I think most of your struggle is two fold. First, as you apply the glue, the wood is going to swell and with your tight tolerances will make it more difficult to put together. The second issue is hydraulic pressure from the glue. Your tight tolerance means there is nowhere for the glue to go. On the first piece you glued, you can see how the piece starts to bow. When you start to add the pieces on the other side, that glue is trapped and so the piece snapped. If you had allowed the main pieces to be a little wider or the small pieces to be thinner, I think you would not have had as much struggle. Hope this helps.

I was surprised that you did not accept 10.2-ish in the initial setup. Upon reflection, would this give enough room for glue and some play in the joints as the whole piece assembled? Congratulations to you on the learning you achieved.
I admire your imagination, your problem solving ability and your determination. You were born with these qualities, they can’t be taught. You have what it takes to be a great craftsman

It's beautiful but I know, making new designs is difficult. You can use it for wood columns or something modular, keep it try
This is like a more fun lincoln logs. More ways to play and create. The YARUKI is just a bit fragile when you compare it to thick lincoln logs, maybe not good for kids.

hola.

Do not be discouraged. It is said we learn by trial and error. I believe we learn by attempting something and leaning through the unforeseen problems. You have an excellent idea and found unexpected problems, not mistakes. You are learning and growing. Take your ideas and turn them around to find new adventures.

Porque no usar menos pegamento?y dar tiempo limite de secado y en lugar de forzarlo humedo. Es asombrosa la dedicación en el corte milimétrico y me parece exagerado tanto pegamento.😮
