The second style feels like you might be inclined to add more elements in an illustration, but your original style has this mature and elegant charm to it that’s irreplaceable ✨Personally I like the first but I also like the hints coloured line-art in the second

That ks for sharing your thoughts! I actually like my style but when I see people with cool and funky art I want to try it as well to see how I like it or if I can borrow some of their aesthetics for my normal style ^^ I think that's the main point of experimenting ^^

This video is actually quite helpful. I, too, have been feeling stuck with my style and often envy other artists' styles, which has resulted in me not wanting to finish a single work as of late. But I've been getting better after trying and not worrying about being "perfect", and it's really refreshing. Not to mention, I enjoy watching speed paintings while working to learn new techniques that I can use to my drawings. amazing video Kuro as always ! learned more things in a few minutes.

Aw I understand! I know what you mean. Seeing an art style wants..e to drw like that as well but at the same time I also want to make Art like another artists and this leads to some sort of crisis and art block and frustration which makes everything worse. So being less of a perfectionist is really wholesome

This video is incredible! I've been wanting to try picking up art again but the process is so terrifying to me. It really feels like a rigid box with rules sometimes, but your video is helping me to realize that I need to break down these imaginary mental walls i've formed around art. I love your artworks and its incredible to see you able to break down your art process and style to make an "opposite" version of it.

Thank you! ☺️ yes, actually my art blocks are mainly caused by my mind, cycling between people's expectations and my own over thinking. When I see art style as some sort of goal I have to achieve I will never be happy because it's not achievable. Learning is endless and so the development of an style. Knowing this helped me to be more free and less stressed about the performance :) I am wishing you all the best and thanks again for your comment :3

Ahh, Kawaii version of Rin! He turned out really cute! It's really impressive being able to have dramatically different styles! This is such a useful video because I really wish I had developed an art style sooner. Though, I still wouldn't say I have one fully set in stone yet, it would probably a lot further along had I studied specific artists sooner. But I appreciate the experience of having gone through it, since I was actually thinking about this recently. My way of drawing certain characters has evolved a lot in just a year and now I'm a lot more confident when it comes to drawing them than I was in the past. I sometimes get worried that maybe my way of doing things isn't really what the algorithm likes, but I just have to find a way to make it work!
@kurohshiro

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me! I agree on that. Nothing is for nothing when you can say it like that. Everything is some sort of learning even if it means going back to things we used to do and continue from there again. It's not possible to not get influenced by other artists and I love that about Art! It's something so personal and every style tells a little history :)

Sometimes I put so much pressure to art that it turns being a mess in my mind, but seeing your videos makes me realise that I just need to take times to analyse/learn more from others artists works to understand mine. Wow thank you so much for this sweet and encouraging comment. I am so happy to hear that it's helpful in an artistic way but also for the mindset. I noticed when I am thinking too much about my art how it should turn out, what people expect and what I want that it's not working at all to make art I truly enjoy. It's stressful drawing with the latent pressure in mind of performing. So taking a step back and being more gentle to yourself helps a lot :)

Both are so GOOD! Love to see how you combined all "toppings" together. That was very, very inspiring. I really gotta take time to do more style studies of artists I admire and put them together. I did learn, since I started digital drawing, that it does take time to find what works and what doesn't. Only after attempting different stuff, I'm starting to get used to the idea that I find using lineart works better for me, so I guess I'm finding part of my style. A direction. I'll keep studying more "toppings" until I find more combinations. >

That's such a good mindset! I think so as well, trying different things even if they are serving the same purpose, it's important to understand what works and what doesn't and maybe something was alright till you tried something new and then this new technique or learning is the right topping ^^ thanks a lot for your comment :3

That's true! And we will never be able to copy an art style 1:1. It's always influenced by our own experience and skill and it's an interpretation of a stylization :) so basically part of learning and improving from the "copy"

Thank you for another helpful amd well-made video! I think the pressure of having an identical artstyle has always been the problem for artists. After more than 1 year of taking digital art more serious, I am still taking my time settling my artstyle (since I do the similar things you showed in the video, learning different styles from different artists. And honestly it works wonderfully for me). There are a lot for me to learn and pratice that I need to do to get there, your video is like a good guidance for me in my art journey. Personally, I love both of the drawings but I refer your artstyle more! I love the balance between realistic style and anime style you have, my artstyle goal is something similar to that.

Oh thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts with me! Right, art styles are always somehow influenced by something which already exists but it's the skill of the artist personality to make it something very special and unique. I always open references when I draw, may it be art by other people or pictures. This influences me as well and even if it's only subconsciously, it's forming my current art style and yeah, it's nothing more than learning what works and what we love to draw (in a certain way) :) thanks for your comment ^^

Yes, it's about finding the most suitable way for us in drawing. I used to draw without reference thou, but after watching other artists using reference (especially you when you combine the references instead of just going for exactly one reference at the time) inspires me to do the same. I'm getting used to that, there is still room for improvement.

I'm the one who is a beginner trying to FIND my style so.... I'm working on that. Whenever I am in a slump I watch Kuro's video to get inspiration to do my own experimentation. 😅 Regarding which art style I prefer? I, personally, am attracted more to the realistic one with muted colors (Kuro's original style). That's just me though 😆

Whoa, each time I think I comprehended how cool you're, Kuro-san, you manage to surprise me! Rin was already heart-melting bishounen, and now you turned him into the cutest blueberry mochi UwU. Also your kitty avatar is absolutely adorable, I hope to see again :3 It was supposed to be the 'evil' challenge, but it turned out to be the 'sweet' one :D Also I find it informative how you break down other styles and implement their aspects. You can watch speedpaints for days but that won't help if you don't realize what exactly you like in an artist's style and how to recreate that. So thank you a lot, Kuro-san, I'm extremely glad I found you, your art and videos teach and inspire me more than you could think ♡(>ᴗ•)

Gosh your comment made my day! That's absolutely sweet of you ☺️ that's true! It's not that evil haha but that's actually the hilarious thing about it lol also I agree with you on the part with the speedpaints. When I really like a certain style I am more able to analyse it and tel what exactly I like about the art. I think this knowledge is very important. It's easier to understand things we appreciate ^^

Nahh! That's not a lack of creativity because you are adding your very own touch and handwriting to the copied style. And we learn so so much by copying others and making them our own and justing them to our own habits, standards and life. Not only in art but also when we learn a language or walking ^^

Personally, I'm not a big fan of the funky, colorful style, but I totally understand the desire for artists to try new things occasionally, so as not to end up as a mere photocopy of their own skills. I've been experimenting with different styles for the past 2 years, including yours, especially focusing on facial features and proportions. It's been a lot of fun. ☺️ Anyway, I prefer your style to the "evil version" because it looks more mature and has a color palette that smells like autumn light and mist (and not like candy and cotton candy). I hope you know what I mean. 🙈
@kurohshiro
@kurohshiro 3 ай бұрын
Oh I see! Thanks for your indepth comment and observations. The analogy with the smell is very interesting, I never thought of that ^^ but yeah, in order to know what we like to draw we also have to make the experience of what we dislike. So for this the challenge was very helpful :)

I don't have/haven't found artstyle yet 😅 I experiment in every drawing and that is why my art always different. ahh simple shapes are soo hard to make look right because there's nothing where you can hide mistakes. So I understand your point. 3:00 Starting new pieces is actually the reasons the art doesn't improve, but I remember you once said "starting new pieces would helps if you're lost when you're drawing something difficult". So I just wanna ask how frequent should I do this method...?
@kurohshiro

That's true, when I fee stuck with one piece then I just open a new canvas and start all over. But what I meant with feeling stuck with my art lateis because I don't experiment with new things. In my point of view art style is more like how an artist observes real life beings and reflects them on paper each time i grab the pen my workflow changes help
@kurohshiro
@kurohshiro 3 ай бұрын
Oh I understand this. I guess that's the point that an art style provides some sort of safety but observing really life is so so important. It's a needed skill to be able to simplify things (which then become an art style). Applying this knowledge of real life is difficult but therefore we can study how other artists are doing this. How artist xy is simplifying a hand or an eye etc. I think this takes time :)

That's okay! The tools aren't making the art in the end but they can help to carry a certain aesthetic or look. That's such a wholesome mentality and mindset. I agree with this. Be whatever you want to be, burrito, wrap whatever.
