But for "basketball" understanding, Aomine is on par with Akashi. The only "ability" that somewhat worked on Aomine was Kuroko's Ignite Pass Kai. He was the only one to shut down all other abilities at once. Midorima was passed by vanishing drive, Aomine outright destroyed it. Same goes for the normal Ignite Pass. The only thing that was somewhat able to put Aomine in trouble was Kagami's Zone, which is still bullshit, IRL the phenomenon that here is called "zone" makes you faster and stronger, due to your muscles working on a [risky] high level, and it sharpens your senses, but Aomine's techniques would still trash Kagami's Basketball any day. Especially since Aomine's basketball is the one type of BB that benefits the most from the Zone. No matter how fast he gets, Kagami still has his patterns, he still plays "regular" basketball with some tricks built into it. Aomine on the other hand is basically infinite. The only way you can stop Aomine is by being and reacting faster than him, but that's normally already impossible, let alone when he's in the zone. If two players are in the Zone, it shouldn't be much different from when they normally play, but kagami suddenly starts to play like Aomine, and Aomine's play suddenly becomes duller than normal (instead of things like formless shot etc, he plays like kagami.) The only time Aomine played like himself was when his zone ran out, and he went behind the board to still score against Zone Kagami. If Aomine had played like that the whole time, Seirin would have never won.

I loved the flashback arc in the manga because it was cool to finally be able to see the GoM play together and be friends, but now we've already reached the point where the team starts to break up and the story gets depressing.
