I assume they’re hard on it because of how Malekith was as a character. Dude literally had an infinity stone, which even alone, is one of the strongest objects in the Marvel universe and it wasn’t just any of the stones; it was the reality stone (in its Aether form of course but it was still powerful) and the reality stone is easily 2nd or 3rd strongest out of all the stones. And then with Kurse. After this scene he was literally demolishing anyone in his path just to get taken out and immediately killed like that by his own grenade. It’s the fact that even before that, him and Thor were evenly matched and Thor couldn’t deal any type of damage towards him, even with Mjølnir yet Kurse was pounding and kicking his ass entirely.

Are you sure it’s because he thought Loki was “too dangerous”? I always thought it was because he could tell Loki either didn’t want out or was just content with where he was for the time being. Especially considering Loki eventually ends up helping him within seconds, you’d think Kurse could sense Loki’s criminal instinct and thirst for revenge but maybe that’s just me 🤷🏼‍♂️

They were more bland than Thor was in Age of Ultron, and he could have been cut out of that movie. So they cut them out of the Thor movies completely. They decided to hit reset, change Thor up a lot and give Chris Hemsworth and Taika Waititi heaps of freedom and it turned out fantastic.

The roar was faint, meaning that section of the dungeon prison was far away from their position. The roar was obviously loader than everything Kurse did so far.

Baris Bal for me, and I speak for myself of course, Malekith had a character presentation problem. This goes with the actor’s performance (you can put that on the director as well) and the choice of scenes that they gave him. He does nothing memorable in the film despite his mission being a high stake one for our hero. But to make things worst, the actor’s performance felt wooden lacking any sense of a strong presence whatsoever. His character development is weak being that the story of him and his race of ancient elves is easily forgotten (this one I’ll chuck up to the writing perhaps). His aesthetics is somewhat interesting but even that’s not enough to save him. He’s simply....dull. Kurse was actually a much more compelling villain albeit “the muscle” of the antagonists.
