Unpopular opinion, I always loved the WHAT chant, loved when wrestlers got pissed, loved when they beat the chant and when they did their best to ignore it. I’m glad it outlived Austin’s career but eventually became boring after all haha.

The problem with the "What" chant is, if you're not used to improvising with the crowd, or if you're supposed to be the good guy, the promo is ruined. However, if you're good at feeding off the crowd and adapting, the promo gets improved.

I always remember EXACTLY where I was when Stone Cold threw the medals off the Detroit bridge into the river. It was Sept 2001. I want to say the 9th-13th or something. The You suck chants started shortly after if I remember. Those were good times. I was sleeping with my then gf in her parents bed lmao

the real thing that differentiates the Attitude Era, Ruthless Aggression vs. Now, they tried to entertain us in any other way besides good matches. even if the story line wasnt the best, these people made the best of what they had. thats what made these characters bigger than what their projections were; they knew how to work a crowd. nowadays, only a few know how to work a crowd or just have fun with the crowd

Austin definitely knew when his time was up, sure, he did come back for that WrestleMania match with Owens last year but that was nowhere near as bad as what guys like Mick Foley, Shawn Michaels, and Ric Flair did to tarnish their legacies.
