Kurt Cobain Competition Mustang Guitar Build

Building a Kurt Cobain Competition Mustang inspired Guitar.
I'll be using parts from a Squier bullet mustang and a vintage modified Mustang, a Seymour Duncan SHR1 Hot rail pickup in the bridge position.
I'll also show how to install a Tuneomatic including how to shim the neck.
Once she's all built we will test her out with some grunge nirvana riffs.

Indeed. Ever since I've been following Rob's channels, I've built up my 2nd hand budget guitars company, my own home in the country , and assembled a discarded, but now roadworthy VW camper. Just roll up your sleeves lad , the world can be yours.🐱

What a coincidence. I also recently scored a nice Bullet Mustang in lake placid blue! Mine came with Squier Atomic humbuckers and some locking tuners though!

Thanks! This video was the ammunition I needed to know I could do it myself. It’s been sitting at a guitar tech’s shop for 8 months now. I’m just gonna do it my self. I’m sick of waiting on people. He thinks it can’t be done. This video proves it can. Thank you! 🙏🏻

That's one beastly guitar! My HH Bullet Mustang is Olympic White with a brown tort guard and a set of Gotoh Trad locking tuners. The rest is stock. 🤘✌

That’s a cool project indeed. I also worked on this project, and yesterday I changed the bridge from a standard Mustang to a Tune-o-matic (because it's a Squier Bullet Strat, and the string spacing is 52mm instead of the standard 55mm for Mustang bridges). However, I'm having issues with the action. I already set it at a 1.5-degree angle with a neck shim, but it's still a bit high. I don't know what to do 😢

Awesome work mate. Love the headstock and overall fit. Hotrails just bite right to me. Good job with the routing and drilling those post holes. Very thin these bullet bodies.

Thanks bro, the headstock came out pretty close considering it was a old can of paint I had in my stash. That SD hotrail kick nice, even through a line 6 amp 🤣 Yeah you got to measure twice cut once with them bullets, not a lot of meat on the bone.

Most KZfaqrs have no real experience, just faux wannabes. I've been playing 30 years and been in bands most of that, plus I've bought and sold 1000s of guitars 😂

Hi, i really like you’re job but I have to ask … Does that hot rail match that stock neck pickup or is it much of a difference on output between those two ? I just ordered Squier classic vibe 60’ competition mustang in capri orange and I’m looking for what to do first with that guitar if you have any suggestion please leave a comment a really appreciate it :) something like first things to do with it or any tweaks to stay in tune or what you will do first out of the box … Thank you very much and greetings from Slovakia

So does that bridge match the 12 inch radius of the bullet mustang neck or do you have to adjust each saddle individually? I’m looking to do similar mod and I’m not too sure about that part of it. Great job!

This neck is a 9.5" radius, just using a standard flat tunomatic bridge, it's the grunge way 🤣
