This video has been 25 years in the making for me. My main reason for visiting Seattle was to see the home of Kurt Cobain and sit on his bench in the park beside his home. Finally I got to do this...and a whole lot more. In this video I take you on a tour of Kurt’s final days in Seattle and go inside places where was last seen. Places never before seen on camera. This was a personal odyssey for me and I’m so glad you the viewer, you the Kurt and Nirvana fan, could come along with me.
If you would like to become a patron of mine and donate to my channel so I can continue to create , please go to / scottontape
Thank you all so much for the continued support here. It’s appreciated sincerely.
Kurt Donald Cobain (February 20, 1967 - April 5, 1994) was an American singer, songwriter, and musician, best known as the guitarist and frontman of the rock band Nirvana. Cobain is remembered as one of the most iconic and influential rock musicians in the history of alternative music.
On April 8, Cobain's body was discovered at his Lake Washington Boulevard home by electrician Gary Smith, who had arrived to install a security system. Apart from a minor amount of blood coming out of Cobain's ear, the electrician reported seeing no visible signs of trauma and initially believed that Cobain was asleep until he saw the shotgun pointing at his chin. A note was found, addressed to Cobain's childhood imaginary friend Boddah, that stated that Cobain had not "felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music, along with really writing [...] for too many years now". A high concentration of heroin and traces of diazepam were also found in his body. Cobain's body had been lying there for days; the coroner's report estimated Cobain to have died on April 5, 1994 at the age of 27.

I was 20 when Kurt died. I was driving my little 1991 Honda CRX on Route 3 in NJ going home from NYC. My boyfriend and I were listening to 92.3 fm k-rock when it was announced. I remember my mouth dropped open and I couldn’t believe what I heard. I had to pull over because I couldn’t help but cry. Kurt spoke to my mind and heart in so many ways. From the childhood similarities that drew me to him, to those incredibly emotional/angry screams that made him “the voice of MY generation”. He didn’t like to be held to that height but he was like nothing before. And nothing since. So much talent and so much potential. At 45 years old, I still miss him and think about him a lot. My 15 year old son has discovered nirvana. He’s really into Kurt and we’ve done a lot of bonding through me telling him all about that time period. He has my original Bleach CD from 1989. Plays a lot of nirvana on his guitar. I’m proud of my boy. We discuss Kurt a lot. Not only the music. But the man. Kurt still lives on! ✌️ ❤️

All of a sudden kurt loder came on with MTV news I cant remember if they had a breaking news or if it was just the MTV news special report. But I will never forget hearing "kurt Cobain was found dead, from an apparent self inflicted gun shot wound to the head." I instantaneously started sobbing uncontrollably. I'm not sure if I intentionally ally woke up my friends or if they woke up because of my sobbing. I told them. I COULD NO BELIEVE THEY WERE LIKE OK.. AND DIDNT GIVE A SHIT. I used to be a heroin addict. My tolerance was sky high. I did an enormous amount. But after going into detox for 3 days will bring your tolerance down considerably. Interesting. Cobain did have a massive habit though, and I have read studies about users with very high tolerance levels who could function relatively well. It is interesting regarding the tolerance level dropping after detox, I didn't know it could drop so quickly. I still believe it was suicide though. He left the rehab on April 1st, he died 4 days later. I assume he was using in the days before his death, and he was only in rehab for 2 days.

He did a ton of heroin when he got back to Seattle. To the point where dealers cut him off because he was taking all of it and OD'ing. One night he took a suicidal dose and woke up in his car the next day. Which I think was the 3rd of April. His tolerance would have been pretty high after that.

Much love Scott and Kurt. I was watching tv when it came on the news i did cry. I appreciate you doing this video and sharing with all of us. I could feel your sorrow when you was at the park. I could feel your sorrow through it all but especially when you got close to the park and his house. Such a talented guy he was. His music lives on. To me his song All Apologies showed his depression could see it on his face and hear it in his voice. Love you Scott. Thank you again. You rock By the way Live laugh leave made me laugh. Be safe and have fun

I was 15 and a freshman in high school when he passed. I was not a big fan of nirvana but I believed he was a tortured soul and had some demons that he couldn't get a handle on. he was a talented musician and we will never know how he would've impacted the music today. I thank him for getting the whole thing to main stream so we have the music to remember him and the amazing artists that came with grunge. so I say thank you kurt!!!!

Hello, I’m Shawn McLane from southern Illinois...thank you for the awesome video. I too am a huge Nirvana fan and will someday go visit Seattle and the places you showed. I grew up with the grunge era, was 16 when Kurt died and was in my friends bedroom half drunk and high when the news came on the radio. And yes it is very possible to take that much heroin, I was a 12 year heroin addict myself and only by Gods grace am I still alive today. Been clean 2.5 years and it’s a struggle everyday. I feel for Kurt, I almost did the same thing to myself just as a way to get away from the hellish nightmare of heroin that eats away your soul for ever. My 4th stint in rehab finally clicked and been clean ever since. So yes I completely understand what Kurt was going thru, with the drugs at least. I also read about a creek or River there close to Kurt’s house that’s called McLane creek or River where he used to go and contemplate or whatever? Very cool, McLane is my last name. I had never heard of that before. Anyway, awesome video and you have another subscriber. I appreciate all that u have done and love the hair, very cool. Thank you again.

I can see the pain on your face, Scott, but you still made an awesome video. When Kurt died, I was 21 and pregnant with my oldest son. I was a big Nirvana fan, too. I think the park benches read it best. For 24 years, I thought Kurt had it all, wife, beautiful daughter, music and success, but I guess it wasn't enough to sustain him. Thank you for making this video.

I hope wherever he is, he's finally at peace. Thank you for sharing this with us!

I imagine man... But it was already amazing! And I watched all the recent videos in your channel... I am amazed with the location of Halloween of '78.. with the fountain of Clueless.. some of the locations of Ten Things I Hate About You, Michael Jackson's grave... Really good the way you show those places, makes me want to be there... I really enjoyed. A coincidence: I was watching a documentary about the death of Judy Garland earlier yesterday but your channel was only recommend to me when I was watching videos about Kurt... And while I was watching your other videos it was a surprise to see you visited her graveyard. Hahaha "funny". Do the locations of Friends too.. don't know if you like the TV show but if you did and had the opportunity would be great. I'm gonna keep watching. ❤️

Thanks Scott. This was really emotional to watch. I was just shy of 16 when Kurt died. Living in Australia we found out on the Saturday, and it was being talked about on my local community radio station (3RRR FM Melbourne). I didn't leave my room for the rest of the weekend. The following Monday at school all my friends were just devastated, like me. Such a sad time. I was kinda suspicious from the start, because it just didn't seem right. At the time I would never have thought I would actually get to know Tom Grant 20 years later, and have an active role in trying to get Seattle PD to re-open the case- even from as far away as Australia- the internet has really shrunk the world! Anyway, thanks again for all your Nirvana vids. All the best. Dan

I had bought the cassette of In Utero about a few weeks earlier and hadn't liked it. It felt dark and depressing to me, so I didn't listen to it anymore. Then one day out of the total blue, I decided to give it another chance and listened to it while getting ready for work. Then after I was ready, I turned on MTV while eating lunch before I left for work, and they were talking about Kurt a lot. I was thinking what the heck are they talking about him so much for? A fleeting thought crossed my mind that maybe he had killed himself so I kept listening and indeed. I was very shocked but not surprised, and very sad and had a terrible night at work. It was just so weird how I had decided to listen to the tape again out of the blue. Of course, I ended up loving the album. It grew on me. RIP Kurt
