On the road to Aberdeen I stopped by a small town for a chat with Gary Cobain, the uncle of the legendary Nirvana frontman, Kurt Cobain. In the video we discuss Kurt’s upbringing, his musical influences, and the relationship with Francis Bean and Courtney Love.

It seems like he really cared for Kurt. How sad...see this is what the public doesn't realize. There was an Uncle, parents, grandparents, maybe siblings that were heartbroken that day. That is the point your video brought home. Courtney Love and the fame was just his public life. The real story is Kurt had family just like all of us. And we need to stop putting these stars pedestals.

I swear that Kurt's Grandparents house should be protected by the historical society. That's amazing that his uncle opened up to you and allowed all of us insight into Kurt's childhood stomping grounds, shared memories, and shared information that most fans never knew. I didn't know that he was actually right handed. I always assumed he was left-handedbecause of the way he played guitar. But it makes sense, my daughter is Left-Handed and plays guitar right-handed. She, like Kurt, is very artistic, and it seems that artists tend to be ambidextrous.

@@SCOTTONTAPE Thank you Scott! It truly was a great insight into Kurt's childhood. I like how he joked about him playing left handed because he broke his arm while babysitting. I hope my daughter keeps it up too! Most parents brag about their children, but my daughter truly is talented. Like I said, she is left handed, but ambidextrous. She is a phenomenal artist, and very creative with sculpting. She's especially talented when it comes to portraits. She drew a Asking Alexander taken by the bands photographer (Sanjay) and he noticed it on Instagram. This was her first attempt on a tablet/digital drawing, five portraits. When they came to Nashville with Black Veil Brides, Sanjay reached out to her, and took us backstage to meet the entire band. She gave him a copy of her drawing and he seemed to be truly excited and grateful. He actually had her draw several other photos of his in exchange for unreleased photos autographed. Sweet deal for her. Luckily, she has good taste in music, (Nashville life) and is starting to shred on her guitar. Hopefully she can be a successful musician one day, that is one of her dreams. Like I said, most people brag on their children when there is nothing there. I would be the first to admit it if she was a paint chip eating idiot who banged her head up against the wall for fun, but I was blessed with a kick ass kid who is more like me than her mother. She truly isn't afraid to be herself and commit to the things she is passionate about. Sorry for the long response. Just wanted to paint a mental image for you.

Scott, you certainly do come up with people, places and things that most wouldn't and/or couldn't! Uncle Gary seems like a cool cat. I do believe that he was a little uneasy at the beginning. Even having his 45acp on display. Then he realized that hey, this guy Scott is a cool cat. I wonder how many people in that family has those eyes. Great video sweetie. I absolutely love the diversity of your videos! Love and peace...

Some right handed people play guitar left-handed. Omar Rodriguez from The Mars Volta does that, and so does one of my personal friends. My friend told me "It makes more sense to fret with my right hand since I am naturally more dexterous with it"
