What's up with Kurt's eyes?

There’s 900 comments here so not sure if will get read, but for what it’s worth: things are not ‘black and white’ in terms of good and bad. Kurt sounds like he got shot out of a cannon in the beginning of his solo which is way cool! But…it also kind of leaves him no where to go. I think the nature of his sound with all the attack taken out makes it hard to play anything relaxed and swingin’., it’s like you have to go for the Coltrane ‘sheets of sound’ thing with that sound . So…. while I was thought Kurt’s playing was ‘impressive’….maybe I’m old school or something, but I felt like either he needed to sustain that ‘pedal to the metal’ thing for the duration….or find a way to be more ‘expressive’ in his expression of ‘swing’. And don’t get me wrong, I love Kurt’s playing… I think he’s the most influential jazz guitarist around, but…..objectively, this particular solo was not totally satisfying from beginning to end. Nice moments for sure though!

The tempo makes me hurt from how much it drags. Ik it's intentional but 💔

Why is everyone acting like this is a good performance? Let's be real Kurt's playing sounds like it doesn't matter, completely lifeless. The others may have played well, but I can't get past the monotony of the beginning. Kurt is an exceptional musician, and for whatever reason he was off his game, but that doesn't mean we have to lie to ourselves. 583 likes... yikes! if we like everything then likes don't matter. What do we do when Kurt plays well? Click the same like button. Get this participation trophy nonsense out of the music.

The melody is played so well by this sympathetic band. Then the guitarist begins soloing, as if he forgot the essence of the song, and crams in a lot of notes, guns a’ blazing. I don’t get it.

With Kurt and Emmet you see the difference between a meaningless solo, just a bunch of notes, and A musical one, fulfilled with ideas, melodies, space and storytelling
