Tiffany W exactly! I always say that but the Hummelberry stans say that “no she thinks he’s her equal and she always apologizes!!!” honey, no. She literally said herself that he was, and I quote, “her best gay” and basically her assistant. She shows it in basically every season they’re friends. She always discards his feelings and his wants for hers; she did it in s2 when she pursued Blaine for her own personal gain knowing fully well that Kurt was in love with him, she did it in s3 when she ignored the fact that Kurt wanted and needed the class presidency for his NYADA application and ran herself despite her record being full with extracurriculars. She did it again in s4 when she treated him like her assistant and chauffeur after the Midwinter Critique until she was beat by Kurt in Midnight Madness. The only reason she even agreed to Midnight Madness was BECAUSE she thought she was more talented, she said it herself, “I already beat you once”. She did it, again, in s5 when she a) ignored his smart advice to not drop out of NYADA and b) instead called him a coward who felt like he needed a “safety net” because he wasn’t good enough to make it on his own, and then again in s6 when she constantly defied him and ignored his counsel as co-leader of the New Directions. She might have apologized each time but she never showed growth, never learned from her mistakes and kept REPEATING THE SAME ONE OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I really wish the New York duo could have been Kurtana, they are actually really similar in character and good have been such a great friendship. I also wish they wouldn’t have just thrown away Kurtcedes, they had so much potential and even if it didn’t last it shouldn’t have been given to Rachel and it shouldn’t have dissolved without explanation. She completely ruined it and I will never forgive RIB for their crimes against humanity. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

Years and years ago, when I didn't know English at all, I heard a rendition of "Walking on Sunshine/Halo" on TV and I looked it up on the Internet because I liked the song. I found the video, didn't understand a word of it (I actually believed the Glee Club was somewhat popular in their school, that's how much I didn't understand the entire context), but I remember one thing: I was convinced Mercedes ("the lady with the stunning voice" as I nicknamed her) was the heroine of the show, because even in that small number you could hear how much better her voice was than anyone else's. Years later when I actually got into Glee, I remembered only two things from that video: the yellow sundresses, and Mercedes. How puzzled I was to discover that not only she wasn't the main character, but she wasn't even given the "main character" treatment in a multicast show, everyone was just sitting on her and shitting on her talent.

cause kurt character was becoming more popular if not the most popular on glee so they wanted their "star" rachel with someone who is as just popular as her ....so they parted ways with kurt and mercedes.....but true friendship don't die off screen,they are literally bff's till this day along with kevin darren jenna ashley fink etc....no mention of lea....

yeeeesssssss. i would have loved this so much. Kurt's only purpose in season 4 was to tell Rachel how beautiful and talented she was every time she felt a bit sad and gave up on everything and i hate the writers for doing that

​@Leslie Kramer Hmm, no for me I didn't like it just because of Kurt's kindness, they were both really cute and equally loving in that moment - I think if their friendship was like that all the time and Rachel didn't have this mindset about him, then they would've also been an iconic, memorable friendship of the show. But overall, him and Mercedes were the real deal! I think Rachel had potential to have this kind of friendship storyline with Quinn better but, oh well.
