Hi Kika, this video is very instructive and your patterns are really very clear. I can testify that thanks to you and your tutorial video I managed to knit my first ever garment, your Sailor Swift pattern. When I once asked for help on your support mail I got an answer in a couple of days, so definitely I can say that I had a great first knitting experience thanks to you!! And English is not my language , I'm french, proof that you really are a very good teacher! Thanks a lot , I will definitely knit your last Darling cardigan if it's in my abilities! Many thanks from Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean!

I've been a knitter now for many years, and your patterns are some of the best I've seen, and I've seen a lot. I've seen patterns that I would love to knit, but the instructions seem all over the place, which puts me off totally. Thank you for your hard work and for inspiring me to knit with confidence. ❤

Thank you for your videos - I just looove them 🥰 They are always very entertaining. Lots of other people on KZfaq just sit in front of the camera talking while your videos are always fun with nice music, lots of pretty backgrounds (I almost couldn't concentrate because of that amazing yarn wall in the background 😃) and different video clips while you explain things. Please keep on doing such a great job. It is a pleasure to learn from you and to see your enthusiasm talking about knitting. By the way I liked your "A week in my life as a knitwear designer" video a lot. Maybe you can do that again some time? 🙂 Sending lots of love from Germany, Imke 🙂

Hi Kika. I am currently knitting your Salty Day Sweater. This is a mammoth task for me because I have always knitted bottom up and never top down. Also the English method of knitting for many years. I hever never knitted on circular needles, with 2 skeins of wool nor followed a chart !! It is a labour of love for me. I have had to pull it back and restart a few times, especially if someone calls and interrupts when I am trying to concentrate. Your patterns are so clear and your online tutorials a huge help. I am perservering and am determined to finish it. I bought your recommended yarn which is lovely to work with, but only 2 shops here in France stocked it. Thank you for this tutorial keep producing your lovely patterns.

I love how you explain things so clearly! I recentrly tried knitting for the first time and made your knitted summer tank top, but with straight needles and just one strand of fingering yarn. What I found difficult was how to correct mistakes, so I would love a video from you explaining how to pick up dropped stitches (when knitting or purling), how to pick up dropped stitch that goes all the way to the cast on row, or what to do if it is the edge stitch, how to unravel one or more rows and then get the loops back on the needle, and other such things.

QUESTION I love the design of the sweater you're wearing. Sort of a bit menswear shape at the top, working down into the beautiful puffed sleeve. The rib continuing down onto the cuffs. And the little dainty cable accents. I love everything about this one. Where can I find the pattern, and what's it called?

This video was really helpful. I’m dyslexic and often I find patterns could definitely be improved when it comes to how they’re written. I would really like to become a test knitter as I think I might be able to offer another perspective that would make the pattern more accessible to people. But videos for patterns are also a big help! I’ve always found your patterns really easy to read ☺️

I sometimes take the written knitting into a text file from the downloaded pattern. Then i can put line breaks in where it means something to me and separate out sections to be repeated. Then I put it onto a word document and use the hightlight function to emphasise specific bits

As I started knitting YT wasn't a thing and I also had nobody to ask, so it was not that easy. I used patterns from a big yarn company and my sweaters/cardigans always failed but I didn't know why. Then as Craftsy started I found a course that told me how to alter patterns for MY body and that was an Eye opener, because I realised that just knitting "your" generic size was my problem. My sleeves where to tight and to long, my bust never hat enough space and so on.... I love that now in patterns of indy companies (like yours) I find the ease as well - that made my life so much easier and I started knitting sweaters again. Just finished your Salty Days sweater (fantastic pattern, so easy to knit).

This is great and so true, so thank you very much Kika for laying this out. As an older person who's only been knitting five years, I felt like I was always moaning in my knitting group about unhelpful patterns and thought I'd better stop being such a grinch. However, I've now found you and some clearer patterns and realise that there are clear and unclear patterns so I can now knit away and tackle some quite complex things and learn more techniques. I've stopped moaning now and just purchase clearer patterns (I have your book and love it). You're always great to watch and good luck to you personally and with your professional development.

This was great! I've been knitting for a long while now, and I've been considering starting to design and maybe write up patterns (although likely not sell them because I wouldn't have time to do all the sizing, etc. given my regular job). It's useful to know what you've found to be the best additions to patterns, though! Your patterns are definitely some of the best I've seen. I typically knit (or crochet) vintage or historical patterns, and those can be very, very sparse on the information front and generally only have one size. It's always a treat to work with a well-written, more modern pattern. I'm very much looking forward to your new cardigan pattern coming out, too! I spent the whole video dreaming about making it. I love the colourway you chose, and all the stitch patterns work so beautifully together! And those sleeves! Gorgeous!

Hi kika. Thank-you for a very good explanation. Currently I'm working on the salt lake pattern and I'm finding it really easy to follow even though I don't consider myself a knitter although I have been knitting for many years but I usually go to very simple patterns or knit small things like hats or dolls. To be honest with you I'm using acrylic 4 worsted yarn as I didn't want to spend too much money as I was afraid I'll mess it up but for sure I will be knitting this sweater again with some nice fluffy yarn like you usually use. Thank you so much xxx from Malta

Great podcast! Thank you! I think ease is the problem I have with knitting. Sometimes it is not clear if ease is in the pattern or not included in the pattern. Also substituting yarn is another area I’m interested in. I want to check out you book also.
