I remember in old days where the KV5 comes up into the premium shop after the Löwe. At this days and the old meta the KV5 was a stronk tonk..

KV-5 was banned in professional tier 8 format (?) because it was deemed overpowered xD jesus, im feelin old now haha

@@frustriert It was 1v1s IIRC. The KV-5 had the largest hitpoint pool and good DPM. Hard to beat those attributes in a 1v1

@@nitbot today you could just pick a defender or even a techtree tank like the vk100 and pretty much win by default. nevertheless i just finally got my hands on a KV-5 via the bond shop and seldom did i have as much fun in a tank that needs so much thinking as well as balls :D

I played the shit out of the KV-5. It was my only premium tier 8 for the longest time. It wasnt quite as bad as its reputation. Huge hitpoint pool, strong armor, especially the side armor and really good DPM. It's biggest problem back then was the penetration which was only 167mm(!). It has a little bit better penetration now, but it meets much stronger tanks as well due to the powercreep

My issue was WG changed the MM, so nearly always just got T8 & T9 matches. I hardly ever got T7 or T6. As you state, power creep means this tank, with it's poor T7 gun, struggles to have much fun, which is the most important thing.

I have no idea why, but relatively recently Cliff meta has changed to every Bob and their mother going 1/2 lines - inevitably they do jack shit there but the only reason your team doesn't instantly lose is because all the little Bob's on the enemy team also camp the 1/2 line for the ultimate stalemate. You do have to wonder sometimes

On the other hand, on Karelia, in the lower tiers no one goes 1/2 A/B line and everyone just camps near the hill and doesn't even push. I also feel like a lot of people don't even know you can go up on the hill from the middle, too.

I remember this tank when it came out , it was one of the best prem tanks to buy , and i remember peoples driving this tank backwards(angled) since it has good rear armor with no weak spots like the front , even the mighty jingles showed a video of this tank played driving backwards at that time , no one was able to afford prem rounds

Yeah the rear armor used to be good but then WG decided to nerf that aspect. Clearly the tank was OP lol

I bought my KV-5 with an IS-6 in some kind off package deal around 7 years ago. I still enjoy them but don't load much gold and don't expect a lot but you only have to pen a few shots to make decent money in both if you don't shoot much gold and don't burn premium consumables. Frankly you can use prem consumables and still bank but I want all I can get when I'm grinding credits. Still using them to grind credits and strengthen crews this weekend.

Anyone noticing the graffix glitch of the barrel marks trailing the turret movement? You can see it 'round 5:20 with the 3-stars.

I have the same problem, gun marks moving and flickering as well as any emblems and pen/bounce marks. It's almost as if they can't keep up with the tank somehow because they reappear when I stop.

Until WG changed the match making, this tank was fine/fun. Then it was just T8 & T9 matches all the time, where this tank struggles badly with bad pen & power creep. Thanks Skill! 🙏

@EZ E Yes, agree the Matchmaking change (two and one tier battles) killed it for me. All of a sudden it was effectively bottom tier all the time. Have 3k games in it but 90% before the dreaded MM change. It can still have good games of course but they are much rarer. Also when WG buffed the armor of the tank they mostly buffed the mini turrets which just makes it more unfair against lower tiers. Meanwhile every modern tier 8 tank can just pen it straight through the 190mm turretfront without any issues at all. Edit: I would much rather have 250mm turret armor and just 120mm on the miniturrets than the 160-190mm it is right now. That way it would be better against tier 8s but also fairer against the lower tiers.

@@kv-5 Seems your experience like mine. WG don't want the +1 MM, my E25 also suddenly started being same or base tier. WG Buffs to KV5 useless, & just to show regulators that they keep old tanks 'competitive', rather than all the power creep. Moving the goalposts by WG is just one of the reasons I stopped playing.

Still my fav tank but it can be a struggle nowadays bc WG stealth nerfed pref mm so it gets T8-T9 all the time (maybe T6-T7 like 10% of battles!). It could use a buff to the gold ammo pen, as it's over 10x the cost for only 21mm extra pen. And with the power creep and high pen of other tier 8 tanks now in the game they can just pen your turret front and gun mantle which sucks

The T78 is a player from the german clan STRGV. He is a uncium so that's why he managed to survive against the E25 and Udes

This is the worst tank in the game now. The gun is really bad. Only good thing is kinda high ROF so you can throw poop and miss half the shots and other half fail to pen. Against tier 9 or even tier 8 you just have to trade HP and you have a lot, but you will never bounce against a team with a brain and also tier 6 can pen you frontally with gold. It's a heavy tank with a bad gun and no armour. >inb4 you can ram lmao

Some truth to this, if they adjusted it so that "bad" tanks got preferred match making that would balance the whole tech tree, take the AT15 for example, if it only sees tier 8s max, its not so bad, tier9? just give up, you have to play very well just to pay for yourself at best, and every medium will pen you from the front anyway.

KV5 is already +1, due to preferential MM. The problem is WG changed the MM, so was nearly always T8 & T9 you faced (whereas before you saw a lot more lower tiers, more often). With all the power creep & auto loaders now, you just get blasted back to garage these days.

@@Kohagaan Some of my best games have been against +2. Not best in stats, but best in enjoyability. It's like WoT hard mode, a challenge. Maybe not so much for tanks like KV5, but those are the exception, not the rule.

Show us replays with 15-2 or 2-15 score. Show us when you aim perfect 3,4 times and the shell go to hell every time. Show us the truth about this crapp game .
