Kwacoco and Banga Soup, traditionally known as Ngonya Mosaka, is made from grated cocoyams and palm nuts pounded into a flavorful soup. This dish hails from Bakweri people in the Southwest Region of Cameroon. Seasoned with exotic Cameroonian spices, smoked fish from the Atlantic Ocean, and garnished with fresh leafy vegetables this soup takes Cameroonian comfort food to another level.

My dear, I greet you. In as much as you are publicizing kwakoko and mbanga soup, I will advice you to hang on What you master well, not even best. Mbanga soup doesn't need all those spices like achu soup.

My dear your spices are so off. As a Bakweri woman who grew up with my grandmother l can tell that we do not use pèbe, garlic, ginger and kontri onions in Banga soup. Chaii who gave you this recipe ?🙄

Hello Ms. Dorothy. Thank you very much for your feedback. I would like to inform you that Before I cook any dish, I seek the expertise of members in the community particularly women from tribe and culture who are custodian of the culinary knowledge. I will tell you that Interviewed a total of 8 women from the Bakweri tribe 6 from Cameroon and 2 in the USA. The spices you see are what they shared with me which is similar to what is in Aunty Kate's cook book. Cooking is personal and if you don't use the spices in your cooking, I am sure the Bakweri mothers do and that's why they shared the authentic recipe with me. We learn every day and increase our knowledge by learning from others. Let's learn together.

Unfortunately l continue to disagree with you. The 8 persons you interviewed were not enough for you to make an informed decision. It is not a matter of whether l use the spices or not. They are simply not used in Banga soup. And Aunty Kate's book(bless her soul) had some culinary items of the tribe that l disagreed with certain aspects in our online platform Bakerirama. Take note she was creole.Banga soup uses the following basic ingredients Salt, pepper, crayfish and onions, period. In those days there was no Maggi or bouillon cubes. Crayfish did the trick. Manjuweli and esrekesreke kicked it up a notch but are optional. Plus of course your fish or pork or any smoked meats depending on your preference. So my dear rather than being defensive, do more research. Your recipe is NOT authentically Bakweri.

@@dorothyewusi3424 Dear Ms. Dorothy thank you for the information. like I said, we learn everyday and from each other. Cook your own and I will cook my own the way I was taught and from the bakweri mothers I learned from.

Yes my dear cook it anyway you wish and tell the Bakweri mothers who taught you that l decry and challenge their method as NOT authentically Bakweri and l stand firm on this because you are on a platform on which you intend for people to learn. Your recipe is misleading period !!!!!!
