Wathcing the video from Norway. Enjoying my two awesome Nick Peel traditional Kentucky knives :-) Making my own knives in Scandinavian style, but my blachsmithing skills are quite limited. Interesting and inspiring to watch great craftsmanship. Keep up the nice work!

This is one of my favorite videos on this channel. Really interesting to see Mr. Peel work. I wonder - how long did it take him to get to the point where he could consistently make a good knife. Seems like it would take a lifetime - but I'd love to learn some day!

I have a folded steel katana that was imported from Japan. it doesn't have an edge on it though, it was given to me as a present as I studied Samurai sword form. I need a edge put on it as it was unsharpened when given to me. can it even be done at this point? if so how much would someone charge to do it?

I always thought years of experience makes a good knife maker. I've seen teenages make better knives then his.just my thought.

How can you look at a blade in a video and see anything, good or bad. You don't have a clue about knivesmithing or metal working.

It's a matter of style, these are user pieces patterned after the mid 18th through mid 19th century primitive style knives made by frontier blacksmiths and carried by woodsmen, trappers and long hunters of that period. I can see quality in every aspect and I'm quite sure that the cutting ability, edge retention and toughness of his blades are as good or better than any safe queen collector's type showpiece. In the end it's a matter of taste, of course.
