Gil Hibben is considered to be one of the most accomplished knife makers in the world. He has been inducted into multiple hall of fames and created some of the most famous cinema blades in history. Kentucky Afield joined Gil at his shop in Oldham County to find out more..

Gil Hibben seems so full of class!!!! I'm proud we share the same passion for knives! I don't think anyone else could have had his career highlights! Even doing business with the king!

Beautiful knives! I love how the elder gentleman's eyes light up when he looks at that finished knife. After all these years he still loves what he's doing!!!

Always loved Gil Hibben knives. The design was futuristic but timeless. He seemed to want to be left alone so he could build knives instead of talk!

For my 40th birthday in 2019, I did the week long class with Gil and Wes Hibben plus Derick. I found out my class was 2nd to last. Best experience of my life, got to work with Gil and Wes for a solid week designing, building my one of a kind Knife, then with Derick to make my leather sheath. Don't forget about Linda (Gils Wife) she runs the empire behind Gil. Linda & Gil invited me into their home and we had Bratwurst with fixings.

He designed a double edge hunter looks like a dagger. They made it for Browning in the early 80’s made in japan by Ichiro Hatorri. I got later custom one in CowryX. Made by Hattori but the design is Gil Hibben.

Hello! Awesome Gil! I just ordered your beautiful thundra knife! So Beautiful workmanship! So nice handle! And full tang wow! My question is THE Blade is flat so does it hold Up? Well compared to other Blade designs with two/three layers of Blade kind regards/Leif finnish knife man.

Hate to say anything negative about this man but his knifes are just for show I've had the Rambo III the highlander and the double shadow all of them broke on me doing simple bush work but I've never broken a coldsteel product yet

loki yeah the problem here is that you don't know what you talking about do some more research. Hopefully you will realize how dumb you sound, there'sq one thing for damn sure you don't have a single knife of his so I suggest you start saving money buy his knife and then talk

@@SENGVIN clearly you do not realize how uneducated you are about Hibbin knives. Their knives are mass produced, and some of them can be purchased rather cheaply. Granted I wouldn't use a cold steel knife either, but there are far better knives and knife makers out there.

Hibben knives from his factory or cheap licensed Hibben knives from United Cutlery or BudK. Big difference.

Baranski From the feedback I’ve seen the one constant in his original Expendables Bowie and the United Cutlery one is a handle that will break off due to the lack of a full tang, that’s not what I’m looking for when it comes to a custom Bowie knife that I’m going to spend a lot of money on like say my Haag Bowie which is a 1095 high carbon steel knife with a 58-59 HRC and full tang.

Gil Hibben forged 440C when it didn't come in bars Bec it was so superior of a knife steel and that was the only way to use 440C. He forged enough and more than most!

His knives are collectors and shiw pieces are not meant to be used as actul knives .

You can use the skinners quite effectively. I can't speak to other models.

Here I was expecting a forged with fire type operation of genuine knife making. Not cut filed down and heated flat metal type knife making.

He has 67 years experience and was the Original Fogef in Fire. And tbe the first to ever use round stick 440C stainless. Check yiur history. He doesnt have to pound out steel anymore because he can get the exat thickness and steel he wants. There is NO C & C .. EVERYTHING is hand ground and made . Study your history of the man , the myth, my father. He pioneered the industry frim the okd days to today
