I was looking at some of your paintings on your website with one of my young daughters. She's eleven. She told me to squint my eyes to look at your printing (like you suggest in your tutorials). I did so and was stunned to realise that the image almost felt like it was 3d. I literally felt like I was falling into the painting. The way you had laid out your picture, with cools and warms, lights and darks... I suddenly realised what impressionism is all about. For a fleeting moment I was in that mountain glade. After 35 years of studying art, I realised, for the first time, what art is actually all about. I guess that sounds a little silly or mawkish. But I realise now why realistic painting cannot carry the same emotional pull as in impressionism. Because your brain has to do some of the work, you become involved with the paing=ting in an intimate way that isn't really possible with realism or ultra-realism. Of course, it takes a master to be able to render an image that can accomplish that. I would love to be able to purchase a book showcasing your wonderful art.

Hi Kyle, I have a question if thats ok. How do you transport your small paintings when you use the paper supports? Once I'm at the car I can lay them down but not sure how to carry more than one at a time. Enjoying your videos very much.

This is a great demo! I wish there were a still photo of the finished painting to refer to while watching. Because for one thing, the video camera bleaches the painting surface as it balances the color of the whole scene. And for another, I find it useful to know where the painting is headed when I watch these demos. (Maybe there's an easy way to go back and forth in a KZfaq video that I haven't figured out how to do?) In any case, thanks for another great lesson Kyle!

For example you could have a red, which is a warm color and a blue, which is a cool color but have them be the same darkness or lightness... So that if you were to take a black and white photograph of the two colors, they would look like the same gray. Hope this helps!

@hikmetyalcnkaya4162

thank you sir for your perfect demos, but I have a question, as far as I saw from videos, you never make a comparison between the values. or you meka it but without saying how? if you are not doing this, don t you think that a big effort should be given on this and should be so precise on values and their relation with surrounding?
@PrincessAloeVera

You could try watching the previous lessons and he might not have mentioned it here if he already covered that topic in an earlier lesson. I don't remember for sure if he did as I need to go back and start over at lesson 1, but he does seem to build on topics and not repeat them in every new one. Have fun! He really does teach alot if you watch all and start from #1.

Hello! Thank you for your comment! I try to compare my values as I go by squinting my eyes down and looking from one area of the subject to another. Although I'm not setting out a specific time for doing this, I'm constantly aware of the different values in my peace and how they relate to the different values in the subject matter. I will talk more about this in future videos. The more you train your eye to do this the easier it will become, eventually becoming second nature. Best wishes and happy painting!

I guess I am not to that point as yet! This answer does however give me insight into what I should be working toward, beyond just what is in front of me. I really enjoy your videos as I am learning much about working more loosely and 'seeing' more in nature. Thank you for that too!
