The real dumb decision was to take the ball first in overtime. With these new overtime rules there is no benefit to going first. The benefit actually lies with the team that gets the ball second. If the 49ers knew the Chiefs were going to score TD they wouldn't have kicked the FG. They would have known that had they elected to get the ball second.

he *WANTED* to, but the referees were following orders by the Eagles *NOT* to review it. same thing happened in the Super Bowl, Kyle wanted to challenge the lack of a Fair Catch interference call but Andy Reid told Bill Vinovich not to let them. Andy made that decision before the game, hence why Kyle didn't throw the flag

Dude, the play calling in 3rd Q reminded me of the 28-3 loss to Patriots. In the OT as well Deebo was free on 2nd down before the Juan J 3rd busted play. You make same mistakes man. I think you should take timeouts and talk man to man sometimes about options, just like how Mahomes and Andy do. Just take a break and come back more aggressive and have a young aggressive OC from the booth who can help you. 4 straight years to NFC. Niners might be able to afford one.

If I’m going to be honest, I think the Niners should fire Kyle Shanahan. This is the second time his game mismanagement against the Chiefs in the Super Bowl lost them the game, and it’s the second time he did it with a 10 point lead. It’s clear now he hasn’t learned since he was the Falcons’ OC during the 28-3 collapse in Super Bowl LI to manage the game on the ground. He has the league’s best running back and a strong FB, yet he didn’t hand the ball off more against a Chiefs run defense ranked in the bottom half of the league. They’re just not going to win a title with him as head coach.

Special teams was the difference in this game. The blocked PAT and muffed punt especially, were brutal. The only TDs KC got were from the muffed punt and in OT. Without that muffed punt, the 49ers would have won in regulation. Same for the PAT.

KILLER INSTINCT! Chiefs have it. 49ers had their chances; a blocked extra point and just a few yards away from a TD to win it all in OT. But it takes a knockout punch to beat the champs. And when the moment arrived, the 49ers threw a jab instead and paid the price. The best team won the day. 49ers remain a young team. Maybe they can keep it together and add a few more pieces. But they will need to acquire the KILLER INSTINCT. It's possible their coach does NOT have it and it reflects on their team. Maybe they can hire TOM BRADY to consult!

i think the decision to rec the ball in OT was a correct one ,,for one think the defence got a bit rest and secondly,,it is a bit like penalty shoot out in soccer ,,the team who gets to kick the penalty first is always at advantage,coz 70 % penalties turn into a goal so the pressure is always on the team who kicks second coz they have to score Just to tie [ unless ofcouse the first kicker misses [only abt 30 % of time] @@joeheasley8046

As a chiefs fan, the Niners played as tough as possible and really beat our asses for A LOT of this game. On both sides of the ball they truly were electric. The talking these past two weeks made me lose respect for them, but their game was elite and by far the toughest game of the playoffs for us

Hey Folks. I wasn't able to watch the entire game but when I checked my phone and saw that the score was tied after regulation; I put my phone down. He was in a great position to win the game before regulation and he blew it. 2 minutes to go its 3rd & 4, Chiefs have only 2 timeouts, you run the ball and CMC may or may not get the 4 yards but the clock runs and Chiefs a forced to use their 2nd timeout. But he chooses to try to make Purdy a hero and it’s incomplete, clock stops and Chiefs hold on to both timeouts. The man tries to get too fancy with his play calling and it’s why he’s 0-3 in the Super Bowl. Better luck next year 🤷🏾‍♂️

so many MISSED OPPORTUNTIES /MISTAKES a fumble by CMC that could produce at least 3 points,,the punt ret fumble that led to a quick 7 point by KC who did not look good at all up to that point [ turning point] ,missed extra point ,,and not be able to cash in on 3 positions after mahomes rare interception,,with score still being 10-3 ,against such an experienced side would 80 % of time result in a loss !!! if those happened during a game against falconS or jets ,the niners could still put the game away but not this time,,its so sad,,they came close !!

Kittle w a big no show. Not even close w Kelce. Kelce has been hurt and doubled, sometimes tripled, all year. There is no supporting receiver corps for KC, yet he still had nearly 30 more receptions than and almost as many yards as Kittle this season. Kittle feasts on chunk plays bc their array of weapons spread out the secondary. Kelce bulling the gassed SF D for a first an goal was the nail in the coffin.

Man Kyle Shanahan doesn't deserve this. He just keeps coming up against GOAT QBs and it's a tough out. He'll get one for sure

He 💯 deserves this because This guy after the 19’ super bowl loss to kc said no to Tom Freaking Brady! Tom wanted to be a 9er first before the Bucs. I think Brock played solid but the way the Defense was dominating literally shutting mahomes down for 2 1/2 qtrs and to get no points off of a pick by mahomes rd mid field. And a 3 an out and the ball rd mid field while up 10-3. I’m telling you with Tom in those situations this game becomes a blow out. And my proof is because he did exactly that in the bucs/chiefs super bowl. Bucs D dominated and Tom stomped on mahomes and the chiefs throat and killed them. But instead we get 0 and let them hang rd and a good team will eventually capitalize and they did after the muffed punt. And even after all that he has 2:00 left to ice the game. Runs it on 1st for 6 yds. Then the idiot throws it twice. You run that ball both times with cmc. 1 it makes kc use their timeouts. 2-cmc in 2 Carries is getting 4 yds and if he doesn’t he would at the very least get it to 4th and short where you have 1 yd to get a chance to kick a game winning fg as time expires and mahomes gets no chance. He seriously needs to get fired and bring Belicheck in. I thought wilks would blow it but honestly the D played great for the most part and the offense laid an egg in the most pivotal situations.

If I'm Kyle, I'd head over to the College Football ranks & take the UCLA job when the Niners fire him. I feel like Kyle will do a much better job as a College coach than he would an NFL coach. Kyle would be the right guy for the job with UCLA going to the B1G Ten this season.
