If I break anything is it ok if I blame you when I tell my wife we now have serious trouble? (srsly tho thank you for this vid it's very helpful to carb noobs like me)

DEAL! I’m uh, actually kinda sorta risking loss of Man Points here. You see…..while drinking a beer with a person who claims to have experience with this…..I was told I could drain my gas then add SeaFoam and a lil more fresh gas to my tank. Like half and half. Was told to push the primer bulb to fill the carb up and to let it eat. I’m supposed to do this for 24 to 48 hours. My issue is the blower runs but will purrr for like 2 seconds then sounds similar to idoling down for 2 seconds. It does this occasionally and if I run a more rich amount of gas it works well enough to handle blowing snow but still loses power occasionally. I’ll keep you up to date with this. I’m somewhat ashamed to be trying this but what IS pride anyway right? Haha! Have a great week!

Good video with you snow-blowing as the snowplow goes by on your road. I use Marvels Mystery oil in the gas and I keep the tank full. I have the electric start and it starts right up except when I forget to turn the key on!

Get yourself some torch tip, cleaners with brushes it’ll be less than $15. When you’re putting that screw in jet, just turn it counterclockwise until you hear a click, and then turn it clockwise all the way in and tighten. Just snug. I had to watch your video to know which way that jet went in with the holes because I took a shortcut and popped out the bottom without taking the carburetor off to clean. I didn’t know which way it went back in but thanks for your video. I know now and I did put it together, right. A lot of times I just put the snowblower up on its nose and take the bowl off the carb and clean. It usually works 90% of the time. just take that screw at the lowest point of the carb bowl out and drain tank and carb to remove all gas to store snowblower. pull engines over slow till on compression. That way, the exhaust and intake valve are closed, so no moisture gets in the engine. sounds to me like it’s running a little bit fast rpm should be set at about 3600/3800 RPM you’ll need a tool that measures the shaft speed on the engine.

Wire twist tie with the coating removed makes a great tool to clean out the holes in the jet screw and emulsion tube. Poke through the tube. In one side and out the other. Follow up with spray. You should see mist coming out all holes. Good video.

Thanks for this! Just need to drain my tank but couldn't figure out how to get to the drain hose. Someday I'll have to clean that carb too I'm sure. Nice and detailed.

Great video! I have little to no experience working with machines, but was able to clean my carburetor and jets with little problems. I particularly liked the camera angles, I can clearly see every part you're discussing. Also, your detailed narration. You strike a good balance between describing what you're doing and not endlessly droning on (a typical problem with DIY videos). I think my Ariens model might be a little newer or different, so if you're following this video keep in mind two potential deviations: 1) the screw by the pull cord was described as the one 8mm screw, but on mine it was still 10mm, 2) the electrical was a little simpler on mine. There was only one wire to keep track of. I think this is because instead of an on/off switch mine has a keyhole that has to have the key in it to start. Thanks for the help!

There are more gas passageways which you did not clean out. This is why the machine is surging perhaps.Spray every hole on inside and outside of carb once you have your float bowl off and you should be good to go.The important holes are inside the carb bore just close to the throttle valve.Good luck.

Brand new Aries snow blower, bought oct 2021 used it 5 times. Had to send it last month to the dealer since there was a defect in the tub where chunks of rust were forming and paint falling off. The repair shop called and said it was running rough so we can clean the carburetor for $150.00. I said I only used it 5 times and I put some gas stabilizer how is this possible. So I said no I'll do it myself. Loved your video as it was helpful and so easy to do. My carburetor looked cleaned and the jet also look clean but still went ahead and made sure all the holes were free of debris. Once all assemble back, it runs just like the day I picked it up. Thanks again for your Video.

Oh boy... you're not alone, Dan. SHIT. I'm in the same boat. Was delivered 53 weeks ago and I've been watching vids & chatting w/ guys on Snowblower forum. Question: you mentioned 'tub'; is that in the carb bowl or somewhere else? (Mine is model 920025- Classic 24: it came from the factory w/ one of the shear bolts not installed either and Ariens didn't respond to my emails at all)

When I ran the gas line under the plastic cover it interfered with the operation of the governor. Worked fine after I moved the gas line so that it was not under the plastic cover.

I watched your 1st take off and cleaning / it looked like the very tiny spring was wrapped around the linkage bar to the carb . one little wrap makes a world of difference . . ?

Use ethanol free fuel to elevate corrosion and blockage in the carburetor. Sea Foam added to the fuel will also help keep carburetors clean. No fuel additive will completely remove the moisture caused by the ethanol in the carburetor while in storage during the off season. It is best if available to use ethanol free fuel for all your carbureted outdoor power equipment. And always drain your float bowl when in storage. Or shut the fuel line off and run the machine until it runs out of fuel. If emptying the float bowl this way, as the engine begins to run out of fuel, choke the engine to suck as much fuel out of the bowl as possible. If you leave fuel in the gas tank during the off season, make sure the tank is completely full and fuel stabilizer added, this will help keep moisture from building up in the tank.

That’s a lot of work to take a carb out! That engine did not sound like it was running right at all. Should not be bugging bogging down like that. What was the verdict now that this vid is a year old?

What if I didn’t count how many turns I turned the flat head screw driver when releasing the jet? How will I know if it is not correctly tightened? It was completely tight when I released it, and I tightened it with the same force.
