For a scale in that price range it looks pretty cheap. Especially the textured plastic and the wobbly knob. In my experience coffee making is always a mess and this one does not look very simple to clean.

Solid review! Fellow frustrates me as they choose to prioritize aesthetics over function. They're clearly intentional about what they do, but I wish it were a bit more thought out. Another good analogy would be a scale for barista like a scale for a baker.

cost is way too much for what features it offer, I think one of the best parts about the Acaia scale is their upside down method, liquid spillage and cleaning it are much easier without any physical blockage, this looks a handful to clean tbh. Also the cost here is just astronomical, the only major difference is the brew assist but this is more of just a very basic calculator feature, you could get a dollar calculator, or simply write down your favorite ratios and dosage and never need to use the brew assist. If this was 120 or less I think a lot of people would find it more tolerable but at the current price, hard pass.

I am brewing Baragwi Kianjiru from September Coffee with Lance's ultimate pourover technique and it's awesome. Btw when shipping to Europe you need to put the value of the items (the coffee) on the package or so and also do not forget to subtract the discount if there was any. I had to pay higher import tolls because the value was estimated. At least that's what I was told.. but I am not sure because the employee from ups with whom I talked sounded kinda confused. Also what is your water chemistry in September HQ? Greetings from Austria

This scale doesn't do justice to Fellow's track record of elegance in product designing. It looks like a weird cross between the base of the Stagg and those really cheap round-topped kitchen scales. And although the brew assist feature is really nice, especially because of how easy it is to adjust ratios from the dial, for $185, I don't think it's worth it.

Although the brew mode is nice, it is just a calculation, as a feature i would not rank it to high. I think flow rate would be way more interesting to have because you can use it to communicate pouring speed between people or recipes. Some timemore scales have this. Flowrate you can calculate as well, but is hard to do in real time when you are pouring

I bought this because it was a no brainer as a discount when bundled with the Ode Gen 2, and I'm Type A and like all my stuff to match, but it irritates the hell out of me that you can't have it auto-time with Timer mode. They force users into Brew Assist for all the functionality, which is obnoxious for a scale MSRPd over $150. Being forced into Brew Assist forces a new mindset in workflow if you're coming from a scale like Timemore wherein you simply Dump Grounds > Tare > Auto Start because you know exactly how much water you plan to use, but if you skip the step within Brew Assist where it's the complete inverse of Tare > Dump Grounds > Start, the function is rendered useless and there's no 'undoing' it. For less than $100 you can go with Timemore and get flow rate and auto start. With Fellow you're just paying a premium for aesthetic and a trademarked phrase: Brew Assist.

Products like this kinda annoy me. I'm actually on the hunt for some new scales for our coffee shop. Hope this is just the first product, cause this really looks like a "home use only" device at a high premium price. What I want for that kind of price is to know is how does it handle when wet, when exposed to moisture all day long, when working next to a steam wand with higher temperatures (cause Acaia scales are notoriously shit for working next to damp and high temperature sources and they show false measurements), how well does it fare after being dropped off the counter a couple of times, how good is the warranty and spare parts supply, how well does it stick to the counter so it's more difficult to knock off, why is there an exposed USB-C port at the back with no cover just waiting to be damaged by a little spilled coffee? Fellow! That's the stuff I want from a set of scales, if you use the word "PRO" in the name, make sure it's suitable for actual professionals who will use this device hundreds and hundreds of times every single day!

Without replaceable batteries, it has a built in expiration date which is unacceptable at the price.

The problem is that the vast majority of my audience is American. Canada is only 10% of my viewership.

I don't care how accurate they are, no scale needs to exceed $100. That's just greed.

Ok so honestly I think this scale is kind of pointless especially at that price. The highlight feature being the addition of a brew ratio. If I'm a beginner (and need help for my ratios), Im not going to have the budget for such a purchase especially when a cheap $20 one is just as good. If I'm a pro, (assuming) ill surely have enough experience to know my brew ratio and so i don't necessarily need it and presumably already have one that is just as good. Secondly around the size. This is on the large size for a lot of scales. Think about the barista's out there and the machines that like to weigh the espresso thats produced. They cannot physically fit this on there and can only just about the size of one mug on there. Thats why the tiny Acaia works so beautifully (albeit also pricey)

Looks like an ekg base. They need to make and adapter to use your ekg in to a scale and vice versa. 😂😂😂

I’m drinking the Hancock Signature blend from Woodlands Coffee Roasters. It’s a new coffee shop and roastery near me that is sourcing a portion of their coffee from an orphanage plantation in Honduras. It’s incredibly smooth and delicious as both espresso and filter coffee
