Service industry is brutal. I paid my way through college Bartending and Serving. Most folks don’t understand that if you stiff your server they still have to tip out based on their sales thus your table. They pay taxes and tip out on your meal. I’m an excessive over tipper but you best believe the difference you get at a bar or restaurant when they know you’re a good tipper. To each his own. You do you. It’s good karma to tip well and appreciate the long shifts and hard work your bartender or server puts in to make your experience magical. Once you work in the hospitality industry you know. 😊 it’s just appreciation for workers who don’t have holidays off EVER! NYE, Mother’s Day, Christmas, Thanksgiving. Weekends off? 😂they’re there so you can have a great time on your days off. 😊

I think the biggest issue with the tipping thing is that waiters will always miss out on getting tips from other tables because they cleared out the restaurant for the Kardashian Jenners for several hours. Meaning that those $20 were probably all the waitress got for the entire shift, not just from Kylie. The restaurants should be paying the servers but the reality of the situation is that they don't, and while that burden shouldn't fall on mid to low income people, the literal least that a billionaire can do is tip. A $500 order means that the waitress had to work her ass off for Kylie's one table instead of doing much less work for other smaller tables with much better tips.

There's literally no reason for anyone to have that much wealth. None. As a model in LA since Kylie’s brand is based in Cali if she’s not paid within 2 weeks it’s late. 30 days is waaaaay to long to be getting paid. Agents don’t tell you these laws (which this has been the law in LA for almost 5 years) so that you don’t ask too many questions or so that the agency can take forever to pay you once they receive the money. Unless Kylie cosmetics can show paperwork that the money was sent to her agency then they are at fault if not then she’s have to sue her agency. And the money she’s asking for isn’t too crazy it’s been 3 years that’s a lot of time to not pay someone models are finally getting the opportunity to sue these brand who take advantage of us so I say get that BAG

However, Kylie and her family are NOT average consumers. They have an amount of money none of us could ever dream of having, plus they get a lot of stuff for free, AND they are regularly sponsored by large brands. For the whole tipping topic I honestly feel that tips should be given on how well the service was. It shouldn't be based on if you're rich then you should give higher tips. Some people can only buy a good meal and not fork out an extra 15-30 dollars just for good service. For me I get real anxious when tipping even for pizza deliveries cause I wonder if it's a good amount to give them or I just suckered myself to give more than what I needed to.

It’s bizzare that the celeb is getting called out for not paying a tip? The income should be the employers responsibility not the customer. This expectation is now encroached on normal people who save up to go out to eat to nice places and then are expected to pay in a nice restaurant just to be seated. America is a weird place, and why not a lot of people want to visit it ngl. Only in America you would tip someone and they’d judge you for not paying enough. When I travelled to Thailand and tipped a sweet lady literally some change she was so grateful.

Like yes, obviously, but we’re not and will not in the foreseeable future. It would require the national minimum wage drastically changing. I could not care less what philosophical reason you have to justify it, if you stiff your waitstaff, everyone will hate your guts. Yeah that's what's so frustrating when people go off on rants about how it's "not MY job to pay the server." Because yeah, it actually kind of is lol. Regardless of whether it SHOULD be like that in the U.S., the reality is that restaurants in almost every state (43 out of 50 I think) are allowed to pay servers under minimum and let tips make up the difference. They are SUPPOSED to pay the difference if tips do not accomplish this; I don't know how much faith I have in this actually happening (apparently the profit margins of running a restaurant are so thin that some businesses feel they could not pay servers without the tip credit, or that they would need to drastically increase menu prices). People can't let go of the idea that tipping a server is an extra little reward for extraordinary service, when in reality it's a required supplement to the server's income. Not really a "gratuity" even though they insist on calling it that.

Tips depend on many different things - for example the country you live in. In my country tips are optional, people don't expect you to pay extra. It's a nice bonus, but if you don't leave the tip nobody will care. There is also no rule how much you should tip if you want to do so. In fact the only thing we often do is leaving without change when we pay in cash, because the change is usually a small sum, so it's easier and faster for both sides to just don't care about it at all.

Most of our income comes from the tip, and if they barely tip, because of my restaurant policy, I have to essentially pay to take a sh*tty tip regardless if I’m having a good day or not. It sucks because people mentality about tipping is getting sadder everyday as more restaurant owners start taking our wages. one thing for yall to remember: people who get paid tips are being paid trash wages, sometimes below the minimum wage, and rely on those tips for living expenses. Should we get rid of tipping culture and just pay our workers more? Yes, but we the customers can't change that by not tipping. That hurts the person, not the company. All we can do is choose whether or not we want to help the person helping us. Usually, it's those who have more than enough to spare that don't, while those with barely enough understand the struggle and pay what they can.
