30 years old this year - another of many Kylie classics that could literally be released now - the sound, imagery and quality are awesome.

This came out in 1994. This is when Kylie was trying to be taken seriously as an artist. For years, she was seen as a mindless pop star. This is her attempt to show she's an artist. It's my fav kylie song.

As far as I can tell this is the second oldest Kylie song you've reacted to after Better the Devil You Know (1990). This came out in 1994 as the lead single to her self-titled fifth album and was during her "indie" era after she left her big label. This indie Kylie only lasted for 6 years (2 album cycles) before returning to commercial pop in 2000 with Spinning Around and experiencing a career resurgence.

This was Number 1 in Australia for 4 weeks back in 1994 and is turning 30 years old this year! It also reached Number 1 in Turkey and Number 2 in the UK. It's one of Kylies classics!

@@user-rf4co1ee5o , Yeah, She was HUGE there in the 80's and 90's, and won "singer of the year" like 3 years in a row back then. All her singles were charted pretty high there. They still play her music on Israeli radios all the time. The only thing I'm surprised is how she never went to Israel with her shows... The Israelis love her!

Poetically: "Sirens are beautiful, and they're known for luring in sailors with their enchanting songs and their haunting beautiful hypnotic voice and then killing them." This is not just a music video, it's an artpiece. Everything in this video is intentional: Kylie's acting, the visuals, the direction, even the low quality of the video, everything is perfect. The goal is actually to make you feel that way, drawn to it. What can I say, Kylie's singing and performance is just *chef kiss* and the song is superb. Love your reaction ❤

Thanks for being so positive about our Kylie. She to me is the best pop star ever! Her voice range is unbelievable, unique and i think she is a genius. She has so many songs and can perform around 30 songs at a performance live and never forgets her lines. Her timing is absolutely spot on and is 20 years ahead of her time. I agree, i become mesmerised when watching her perform . She has a captivating stage presence that i have never seen of any other performer, male or female! Thanks again!

Forgot to mention, what's very interesting, as I mentioned above her voice is unique, so much so, not many performers have tried to sing her songs. I would like to see someone try to sing "Confide in Me" or "You're Disco Needs you" and sing the opera. Then she wrote all the songs on Golden which has a country sound and she sounds very country, very similar to Dolly. She has an incredible range that is just mystifying, mindboggling and magical!!! ❤❤❤❤

You are very observant, Kylie was making a statement with this song and video. Her first 4 albums were recorded with SAW also known as the hit factory and she had very little creative control outside of her videos, this single was a statement of intent about her artistic freedom and credibility.

This was Kylie first album away from her first label PWL. This was when she joined a UK indie Label called Deconstruction. At this point this is kylie trying to get rid of her girl nextdoor image and be seen as a real artist. I think the song is about Kylie talking to her lover. She is giving the ok to tell her what he wants. But when all is said and and done it is she who manipulates the situation by saying, "I can keep a secret/and throw away the key". The song's lyrics also represents the respect as the "power remains hers". It later explains that, in the bridge part where she sings "Stick or twist/The choice is yours", Kylie teases her lover that they hold the key to power.

Oh gee you’ve a huge catalogue of Kylie’s to get through 😂 I really feel for people who are too basic to get Kylie . She’s sometimes underrated in the comman mind but if you’re just that bit above you will be constantly blown away by this music legend.

I loved your keen observations on the visuals, the sonics and the lyrics. When this song came out in 94' it really redefined Kylie in every way. She was owning her space entirely and in doing so she challenged those who always dismissed her as a pop puppet. My take on the video is that Kylie was playing with the idea of presenting various forms of "self help" for the person in need. Call centres, late night chat lines, medication through drugs etc. When all the time she is imploring the person she is singing to and obviously concerned about to open up, share the secret...and Confide In Me. I honestly think this song is a masterpiece and hasn't aged at all in thirty years.

What a great song, I’m not going to lie, as a 24 year fan, this was not a favorite. However, there’s a huge meaning behind this song and video. I remember back in the 90s the ads for “Lonely? Sad? Call me now!” Most were hot women who’d talk about hot stuff and that was all, they also had “suicide” hotlines, except back then the word “suicide” wasn’t really mentioned, it seemed to be a taboo subject, it was more like “need advice? We listen!”. Those phone calls though would eat up your money and would put a huge charge on your phone bill which I’m certain would make anyone even more depressed lol. I also remember the disclaimers at the bottom of the screen, always a fine line statement somewhere. Kylie was the only true one 🥰

pretty sure the message was that no matter who you are or where you cam from , I am here for you.. The Video was a reflection of the call chat lines hat where popular in the 90's. she is saying call me , I am a safe place for you. The symbols behind her meant someone, peace, Rainbow in the shape of a penis. the morning after with the eggs, etc... and you right she sounds like a siren calling you in.. The fact that she also meant it is what's huge. its not a gimmick for a video its who she has been all through her career. great song.

You're probably too young to remember late night TV ads for phone chat lines. It's something that existed before the internet. They were expensive. You could easily spend $30 on a call.
