Miss A Thing is such a special track. It has the most sophisticated melody and sounds the classiest on the album. The chorus isn't as in your face as the other songs, but stands out in how it effectively deals with other emotions/topics such as fear and passion, rather than just straight up partying/celebration/dancing. The sexy, breathy vocal delivery plus the production can easily put it on Fever or even Body Language.

my fav celebrate you. For those wondering who Mary is, Kylie talks about it: "I’ve never written a song in the third person before. The character of Mary was born out of mumble-singing melodies. Mary is anyone and everyone who needs reassurance that we are enough and we're loved. The last part of the album has a pretty high BPM, so ‘Celebrate You’ is the wind-down. It’s last orders at the pub-all of the family’s there, and Auntie Mary’s had a few too many. I’ve introduced you to this stellar landscape, we’ve gone to supernova, but we’ve come back down to Earth. This is about heart and connection."

That is restraint! I'm impressed you held off listening to the singles first. Great video/reaction vid. My fav: Real Groove (Your reaction was just like mine to that catchy chorus, it had me hooked immediately) and close 2nd Celebrate You. You should check out Kylie's 'Rhythm Of Love' - the album with the greatest singles released from it and the first time Kylie get's some creative control on her music. Also, 'X' - a very diverse album including my all time fav song 'In My Arms' and includes personal songs after Kylie's recovery from her illness.

You hit it on the head. Her fun ,bright happy songs are what I bring to my life and that is what has made me happy for decades and why she is so important in the musical landscape. We are so quick to analyse and create importance about some naval gazing introspective artists but she is just as important as them to so many of us. She is the endorphins we all need

pretty much your face said it all as your reaction was exactly what Disco is meant to inspire in us. IT isn't an overly complex narrative but I think thats its strength. I do think politically the timing of the Album, plus other artists embracing the Disco genre is purposeful. and "Love is Love, it never ends. Can we all be as one again" is an extremely powerful message, and probably Kylies most political statement in her music as she pretty much avoids it for the most part. Her goal as an artist has always been to just entertain, and get lost in the joy of music. This Album certainly succeeded in that. I also loved that she dint try to do a Disco inspired sound but instead went all out 70's Disco for real. The Abba, Donna Summer, Earth wind and Fire, and other nods where beautiful with out being too obvious ( Well maybe Last Dance but who the heck was sad about that). Your way of reviewing, and listening to the message of an album is a joy to watch so thank you Eric.

This was fun having you blend some analysis with the simple enjoyment and feeling of the music. I myself have never done that before. Especially with dance music! But yeah, there is some depth there. This album made me become a fan again of Kylie Minogue's. She is not promoted here in the US as she should be. The last time she was promoted was during her all-the-lovers summer music video on Bravo and MTV. It was played heavily, but that was ten years ago. I heard from Rolling Stone Magazine that Kylie was releasing a new album. I did not care for Fever and Body Language (compared to who was out at that time- Beyonce, Amerie, JLo, Britney, etc.) at the time of these releases. It sounded really unique, however, this album was a smash! I'm shocked she did not get proper airplay or publicity from this. It's one the best dance pop albums since her X release. To me, X is a smash and light years ahead of what everyone else was doing. Beyonce and Lady Gaga starting wearing similar costumes to Kylie as well. What can I say? This album started off sort of slow but winds up being extremely fast paced. What I like about some of the tracks is that she incorporates more of gospel or R&B groove into here tracks. Magic, Say Something, I Love It, and Monday are awesome. She really knocked it out of the park on this one.

Hey, nice analysis but you don't mention anything about the Jacksons 5 clear influence in UNSTOPPABLE nor anything about the Stick Aiken and Waterman kind of base in CELEBRATE YOU!!!! WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY A WINK TO HER CELEBRATING HER OWN FIRST STEPS IN THE 80'S!!! the next track after that could easily be ESPECIALLY FOR YOU or THE LOCOMOTION. 100% 80'S !!!!

I listened to the download I preordered from iTunes as soon as I noticed I had it. {My Time Zone is GMT + 10}. 12 hours later I had a physical copy in my hands. I listened with the lyrics in hand like I used to do as a teenager. I found myself subconsciously doing my own analysis of the album and it's themes right away. _Supernova_ isn't about to win any awards for literature. _Fine Wine_ could be misconstrued as an ode to drinking and driving without negative consequences. With this genre of music you're supposed to be shaking your groove thang, not thinking about what it is your shaking it too? *Eric, what have you done to me?* Ps. When I was real young, my cousin and I spent the night dancing to an Abba concert on TV. Can't remember if it was live to air or not. It was the late 70s and Abba were huge in Australia then. _The Deluxe Edition bonus tracks don't add anything new to the album that isn't on the Standard Edition._ End
