How to make ... Stamps from foam

Easy to make, low cost stamps made from foam. These can be stamped directly on to journal pages, tags, Artist Trading Cards and the likes or on to plain or printed paper and kept in your stash for future use. The stamps can be used over and over and will last a while.

I glue my foam stamps to 2 pieces of corrugated cardboard. I have the corrugation running in opposite ways. The I add a little tape 'handle' so I can easily pick it up-basically a piece of tape stuck to itself mostly with the ends stuck to the cardboard on the opposite side of where the foam is glued. I've made them with my nephew and we have fun stamping them out. Cardboard is easier for me to come by & takes up less storage space. I made a few a couple of months ago when Shel C was talking on her gelli printing videos about making stamps for the gelliplate. Always enjoy seeing what you're up to.

The possibilities are endless with this! Love 😍 I use a thing called tack n peel by tsukineko, it's an A6 sheet of clear kind of rubber. One side is very sticky which you stick to an acrylic block permanently, the other side is tacky which you use for unmounted stamps or whatever you want to use as a stamp. It can be used over and over again. I love mine xx

Perfectly made stamps, I've done similar with the styrofoam sheets you sometimes get in packaging, but doesn't come out half as well as this does. Tfs xo

I tried things with styrofoam before and found that I can get some nice effects but not necessarily a uniform (or intended) pattern - it's good to experiment with different things though :) xo

maybe back the stamps with another layer of foam, and run a little Aleene's Tack it Over and Over over the back, just a little. that might save you having to mount them on wood.

I love making foam stamps. I haven't done any border ones though so I'll have to try that! Do you watch Kaged Fish here on youtube? She does great circle stamps and beautiful leaf stamps. She has some great tips for mounting them with things you don't have to buy. x

something makes me think that if you stamped an existing stamp onto the foam then carried out your process, you cold end up with a mirror image of the original. am i bonkers? would it work? xxx

Hi - yes that could work - probably more with the wooden backed hard rubber stamps rather than the clear polymer stamps (as the latter tend to be softer). You can also take something like a piece of lace and iron it onto the foam (but taking care not to melt the foam). :) xoxo

Hi. It's just the foam sheets that I get in the kids section of the craft store. Hope that helps :)

Thanks Sue :) That particular sheet (A4 size was from Hobbycraft) and at 50p a go it's great because I can get a lot of stamps out of one. If you've any problem getting them then let me know as I can always get some and post to you. :)
