Bare knuckles always hit harder but has the chance to injure your hand. I was in Shotokan but still fought Bare knuckles. Well one I liked it and I hate sweat on my palms.

Yeahh we do sparring and matches with gloves and also protective gear but when we train our core we punch each other on our belly to make it stronger Edit: and it hurt so bad, it doesn't sometimes hurt inside but the outside of our belly stings it's like you're being stung by a jellyfish

I've heard before that in a tournament setting, there are no hands to the face, but only kicks. I always was a huge fan of lyoto machida for bringing karate into mma and being successful with it. That being said, I'm curious about facial striking in karate as a whole. I don't see it in kyokushin, shotokan, kenpo etc.

if im not wrong, gojo ryu uses punch in head. In general, use fists in head is forbidden. Not because we don't know, it's cause if one of our punchs hit the face, it'll be a mess, a complete mess.@@clydegrey5061

@@kepinto1010 there are some styles that include SOME standup grappling ,mostly to throw your opponent and then strike right after, which means that a karate guy wpuld struggle heavily against someone who can actually wrestle and scramble on the ground.

@@idirbouchdoug1567 you are crazy Kyokushin has roots from goju ryu and Shotokan karate. Goju ryu practices newaza (ground Grappling) they don’t practice to fight on the ground all day but as soon as you hit the ground theyll finish you.

Knuckles and heels hurt like hell. I use protection in mma but the gloves still hurt like hell, one dude who did kyokushin landed a clean liver kick in me and it hurt like hell, and a guy who does muay thai just leg kicked me until I fell.

Kyokushin is basically regular karate except it prioritises harder hits rather than being fast, kinda like muay thai except more karate like.
